Vlog 24: Gandoca-Manzanillo National Refuge
In this episode, I visit Costa Rica's Refugio Nacional Gandoca-Manzanillo and am reminded about how unpleasant it is to wear Keens on a muddy hiking trail! You will be reminded too when you watch the somewhat overly long sequence of my feet in the mud and me grimacing as they splash!
Walking Around the Cahuita National Park in Costa Rica
Cahuita is a village on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, near the border with Panama. It's a gateway to Cahuita National Park, which has coral reefs and the white-sand beach of Playa Blanca. The park’s rainforest shelters toucans, monkeys and turtles. The black-sand beach of Playa Negra, known for its strong waves, is north of the village. Farther north, the Sloth Sanctuary cares for injured and orphaned sloths.

COCONUTS IN MANZANILLO NATIONAL PARK - CAHUITA COSTA RICA VLOG #165
(σ゚∀゚)σ Costa Rica travel video
Manzanillo National Park is dangerous and beautiful. Yes, unfortunately, the part that we could see was tiny, we were advised twice that it wasn't a safe spot for tourists as the park is not guarded.
We made a stroll around the park, and we went back to Cahuita beaches to enjoy a nice afternoon in Costa Rica.

Cahuita National Park Costa Rica
Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica. It has a trail running parallel to the beach in the forest so visitors can walk and see the abundant wildlife found in the park. It also has the longest coral reef in the country and visitors can take a tour to go snorkeling or hike the national park.

TRANSCRIPT
Good morning guys, today we're in Puerto Viejo exploring the beautiful Caribbean side of Costa Rica. I'm with Ernesto, the general manager of Caribe Fun Tours because today we're going to explore Cahuita National Park and go hiking through the area. So Ernesto can you just tell us a little bit about the tour that we're going to do today.
Yes, today you're going to go on a very exciting tour to the national park with our local guide Luis. You're going in probably about an hour and a half or so down to the main point of the park, you'll get some great shots of the beach from there, you'll get some great shots of some animals. Then after that you'll have a chance to have some local fruit, which will be prepared by your guide Luis. Then you'll head off to a waterfall and depending on the rain and water level, people can actually go swimming and refresh in there and also get some great photos of the waterfall.
OK so sounds like a fun day so let's go!
We’ve been walking for about thirty minutes, we’ve already seen a ton of wildlife, there’s actually a really nice path that goes along the beach through the national park so it’s really easy to walk
We’ve seen sloths, monkeys, iguanas so far, we should see quite a few more, it’s a really beautiful day, it’s really nice because it’s under the canopy so it’s nice and cool. This is a beautiful national park, definitely visit Cahuita when you’re in Puerto Viejo
We just finished the walk in Cahuita National Park, it was amazing and now we’re going to cool off at some of the waterfalls nearby
The tour ends here at the beautiful waterfall. We had a great time exploring Cahuita National Park we saw tons of cool wildlife. If you guys want to know more about this tour just click on the links below and thanks for watching

Travel vlog 181 | Cahuita National Park & Bri Bri Costa Rica | Country #12/195
In this episode we continue our backpacking adventure across Costa Rica. We spend a morning walking through the beautiful Cahuita National Park. Looking our for animals and creatures as we go. We weren't disappointed and even spotted our first sloth !!
After a quick lunch we drove to the nearby village of Bri Bri and after discussions with a local family one of the boys jumped in our car to show us through the jungle to find the waterfall.
Just when things were going so well we encountered a small problem !!

La Fortuna Nature Reserve: Ecocentro Danaus (sloths, toucans, frogs, and more!)
We wanted to see birds and animals and wow, we were not disappointed! While at La Fortuna, we made a stop at Ecocentro Danaus, a peaceful nature reserve that's home to beautiful wildlife and plants. I highly recommend paying extra for a guide, because we wouldn't have seen a fraction of what we did without our guide.

Exploring Cahuita COSTA RICA | NATURE PARK and FOOD | TRAVEL VLOG
Today we discover the cute village of Cahuita Costa Rica, a short 15km's from Puerto Viejo. We take a couple of days to get to know the town, on day one we cycle there to get a first impression of the town and day 2 we spend the day exploring the amazing Nature park!
The small village of Cahuita packs a big punch given its small size, it is the gateway to a stunning nature park that meets a stunning white sandy coastline. The town is authentic and has some amazing beach side bars or local soda's if you want to eat.
While exploring Cahuita's Nature Park we caught a glimpse of some of Costa Rica's most majestic animals, critters and fauna. You can even snorkel off shore near the park on what is Costa Rica's largest stretch of Coral reef providing you have a guide.
We absolutely loved Cahuita and can't wait to head back! Enjoy our latest Costa Rica Travel Vlog!

Manuel Antonio is the most popular National Park with Ticos. One reason for this is the unspoiled beaches that lie within easy walking distance of the entrance station.
Besides the spectacular beaches, Manuel Antonio offers several kilometers of very well maintained trails offering the easiest access in Costa Rica to the lowland rainforest.
Logging and agriculture have left only two significant areas of tropical rainforest (tropical lowland wet forest) along the entire Pacific coast of Central America. Corcovado protects one on the Osa Peninsula, and Manuel Antonio protects the other.
ToucansMany Costa Rican school children visit Manuel Antonio on field trips. The park has an extensive education program for schools, organizations, and independent visitors.
Rain Forests & Wildlife in Manuel Antonio
==============================
The dense vibrant forest is made up of guلcimo colorado, madroٌo, cenيzaro, bully, cedar, locust (including the endangered surل black locust), cow, and silk cotton trees strung with vines and lianas. Along the shore is a mix of manzanillo, beach almond (an import from the East Indies), copey, and coconut palms trees. Near the entrance, a small area of mangroves boasts three species, red, buttonwood, and white.
Mammals
========
Red backed squirrel monkeys (mono titي) are a big attraction, surviving only in Corcovado, and Manuel Antonio. The park is actually too small to support a viable population, and the monkeys travel to surrounding areas aided by aerial bridges over the road sponsored by local school children. White-faced Capuchin (carablanca), spider (colorado) and mantled howler (congo) monkeys commonly hang around the entrance station looking for handouts (it is illegal to feed wildlife).
Two- and three-toed sloths (perezosos de dos/tres dedos), raccoons (mapache), white-nosed coatis (pizote), and agoutis (guatusa) are other common mammals.
Birds
======
Over 350 species of birds call Manuel Antonio home, and many more visit the park. You’ll certainly see brown pelicans fishing offshore, and five species of kingfishers (martيn pescador) including the brilliant emerald amazon (amazَnico) species working the streams and lakes. Despite their brilliant colors, Fiery-billed aracaris (toucancillo piquianaranjado) and chestnut mandibled toucans (Dios-te-dé) blend with the forest remarkably well. Other species including lineated woodpeckers (carpintero lineado), barred wood creepers (trepapalos), red-capped manakins (saltarيn cabecirrojo) are even harder to spot, and a good guide is indispensable.
Reptiles and Amphibians
====================
Especially near the shore, iguanas (garrobo), and ctenosaurs (iguana negra) are easily spotted. Other reptiles and amphibians including jesus christ lizards (chisbala), big-headed anoles (galleguillo), leaf litter geckos (gallego de hojarasca), smoky jungle frogs (rana ternero), and a symbol of the rainforest, the red-eyed leaf frog (rana calsonuda) abound but are more difficult to find.
