Well World Heritage Status is awarded by the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation, and basically it's for those places around the globe that for either their natural or their cultural significance are of more importance than purely locally. What we're talking about here are places that have in some way contributed to or changed the way we live as a human society. And that's why Cornwall's mining industry was awarded that status.

You see industrial archaeology is becoming a very important domain of conservation. We have many archaeological sites, mainly in this country, because it was the first country for the industrial revolution that signify the advancement of humanity. So this site is probably one of the most important in the world for the mining and production of copper and tin. So in a way it represents an extraordinary example of that sector in the industrial revolution.

Cornwall led the world in mining, led it technologically, producing probably in excess of half the world's copper - remember, the world was a different place of course in 1850 - a major producer of copper, and then later tin which had been produced in smallish amounts for a long period. And then by 1870 we were probably producing something like half the world's tin.

It was the development of high-pressure steam by people like Trevithick and other engineers who took the basic beam engine, which was a very simple piece of kit, and turned it into what was known as the Cornish Engine which pumped all the mines here well into the twentieth century and was exported around the world. You can go to South Australia and you will see the iconic engine houses you see here. You can go to Mexico, you can go to the far west of Ireland and it looks like little Cornwall. The technology was driven by the minerals below our feet.

Cornwall and West Devon were an incubator for the industrial revolution. Without the minerals, without the expertise and the population that was here, many of the things that we now take for granted would not have been able to be developed or developed so quickly. And from here thousands literally hundreds of thousands of people migrated around the globe. They took their skills, the took their culture with them and a result you have Cornish mining landscapes and the residual communities, if you like, all around the globe. That's definitely worth recognising and celebrating.

BIG OGGIE VISITS SCOTT READMAN CONCEPTS. (And Brings Philps Pasties)
In today's video I take a drive up the motorway from Cornwall to spend a busy but wonderful day in Somerset and Bristol.
First stop is Enmore Park Golf Club on the Quantock Hills, a hidden gem of a championship golf course located in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Then I go to meet the fabulous creative people at Scott Readman Concepts, who design beautiful bespoke putters and putter covers as well as many, many unique golfing delights.
I was recently asked by Scott to paint one of his putter cover stands with my wavescape artwork and so as well as delivering the finished project to him personally, I get an opportunity to look at his workshop and design studio.
Oh and of course I also bring pasties from Philps in Hayle. one of the best pasty makers in Cornwall.
So come with me on my journey...
HI THERE. MY NAME IS JOHN RO OGDEN, BUT OGGIE WILL DO...
I am a newbie golfer, 51 Years old and lets say, hmm a BIG lad... But that doesn't stop me, I have a passion for the sport and although I have lots to learn I want to prove to people that Golf can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, size, shape or experience.
BIG OGGIE GOLF is my new channel dedicated to ALL golfers.
We can't all be professional or scratch standard and many of us will never get close, but we can still have FUN.
So there will be regular Vlogs, Product reviews and Golf Course reviews from around the UK as well as Worldwide.
We will meet many golfers and golf fans along the way and I hope you will get to see things a little differently from the usual Golf Youtube Channels out there.
There will also be lots of fun to be had and once the channel is established regular Competitions for Channel subscribers to take part in.
Golf sometimes gets a bad press and whilst occasionally that might be justified I hope to show it as not quite as stuffy and stereotyped as one would imagine.
There will also be my thoughts on what makes golf seem so stressful for people just starting out, and I will be looking at ways of making that all important first step a little easier.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Gas lighting is production of artificial light from combustion of a gaseous fuel, such as hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, propane, butane, acetylene, ethylene, or natural gas.
The light is produced either directly by the flame, generally by using special mixes of illuminating gas to increase brightness, or indirectly with other components such as the gas mantle or the limelight, with the gas primarily functioning as a fuel source.
Before electricity became sufficiently widespread and economical to allow for general public use, gas was the most popular method of outdoor and indoor lighting in cities and suburbs. Early gas lights were ignited manually, but many later designs are self-igniting.
Gas lighting today is generally used for camping, where the high energy density of a hydrocarbon fuel, combined with the modular nature of canisters (a strong metal container) allows bright and long lasting light to be produced cheaply and without complex equipment. In addition, some urban historical districts retain gas street lighting, and gas lighting is used indoors or outdoors to create or preserve a nostalgic effect.
