Cruel and inhumane conditions on Nauru - Bring them to Australia
Please sign the petition and like the facebook page
300 children have been locked up, punished in this Australian run detention camp on Nauru for 2 - 3 years. The conditions are appalling and inhumane inside the camp. Nauru is one of the hottest countries in the world and it has been torture living inside the cramped, hot, moldy plastic tents for years. There are 68 children still living in this camp today. The Government is quickly moving to demolish this camp, and recently, has been moving people into more humane accommodation on Nauru. Nauru is a 21 sq km island and even with the new accommodation, it is still a prison island. The human being languishing indefinitely on Nauru and Manus have been punished long enough. Please sign their petition to bring them to Australia
Nauru
From the Film Australia Collection. Made by The Commonwealth Film Unit 1962. Directed by Frank Bagnall. Life on the tiny island in the Central Pacific where Australia is preparing the people for life in the modern world. Nauru has a long association with Australia. From being a United Nations trust territory administered by Australia to becoming one of the worlds largest sources of phosphate mined by Australian companies to an Australian off-shore detention centre for asylum seekers. Nauru is now the world's smallest republic covering just 21 square kilometres. This film looks at Nauru in 1962 when it had the highest per-capita income in the world but when the depletion of the countries phosphate resources was already on the horizon meaning the only industry they had, and the only source of foreign investment, was coming to an end. Having become accustomed to the ways of the modern, industrialised world but with no way of supporting themselves how will the Nauruans maintain their lifestyle?
The Rise and Fall of Nauru
Nauru is a country that once enjoyed wealth beyond any nation during the 1970s and 1980s, however, Nauru has since suffered a state of crisis due to over-exploitation and poor government choices. In this video, I give an insight into the state of crisis the Nauruan people are in now, as well as what their mistakes could teach the rest of the world.
