Wellfleet is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States, and is located halfway between the tip and elbow of Cape Cod. The town had a population of 2,750 at the 2010 census,[1] which swells nearly sixfold during the summer. A total of 70% of the town's land area is in protection, and nearly half of it is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Wellfleet is famous for its eponymous oysters, which are celebrated in the annual October Wellfleet OysterFest.

The 11th video in the In My Footsteps: Cape Cod series features one of the most well-known and popular spots in the area: Nauset Beach. It is not only perhaps the most popular beach on the Cape, it is also one of the most popular beaches in all of New England. With miles of sand, great waves for surfing, and a large off-road vehicle area to the south it is easy to understand why this spot routinely is packed during the summer. This place and dozens more are featured in my first book In My Footsteps: A Cape Cod Travel Guide available in stores and online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Schiffer Books.

In Orleans, the Governor Prence Inn is a 5 minute walk from the Orleans Cove and a 10 minute drive from Nauset Beach. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
The Rail Trail bike path runs by the hotel and there is an outdoor pool. Rose bushes, BBQ facilities and picnic areas are also on the property.
