Navimag Ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales
We spent the next 3 days on a ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales.
On day two first thing in the morning, we visited the Bridge where they control the boat from. Pretty ace
First day on the Fjords and the we were sailing down wind, gave me a chance to get the Drone up!
The Views got cooler and cooler
Later on that afternoon, a bit of rain and sunshine brought out a Rainbow
The Fjords got narrower and the views got more and more amazing.
On day two we sailed past a wrecked ship.
⠀⠀
Named the Leonidas ship wreck after the Greek Captain that sunk it, it was carrying sugar through the Fjord.
⠀⠀
Years later, it was revealed that the Captain and crew had sunk the ship on purpose in order to claim insurance for the Sugar that they had already sold on the black market...
Turns out trying to land an @djiglobal drone on a moving object (even if it does have a helipad) is pretty much impossible... ⠀⠀
In other news if anyone knows how to fix a snapped drone arm hit me up.
The weather got moodier as we moved further south and deeper into Patagonia. Here’s a glacier on a mountainside.
This is the narrowest pass on the trip. It’s only 80m wide (the boat is 25m wide) - sounds like a big margin for error, but considering the boat is nearly 200m long, it’s really quite tight.
It took a while longer than expected but we finally arrived in Puerto Natales (too much wind to dock). ⠀⠀
It’s a small town that now seems to only really exist as a base for tourists to travel out to Torres del Paine National Park..
We got of the boat at about 9pm in Puerto Natales and walked towards the town centre (and our hostel)
The sun sets reeeaaally late this far south so managed to catch a lone boat out in the harbour in the sunset.

Navimag Boat coming into Puerto Natales - Chile
Shot of the NAVIMAG boat arriving to harbour. P. Natales is in the XII Region of Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena is the southernmost, largest and least populated part of Chilean territory. This region has many globally known places and geographical accidents like Torres del Paine, Cape Horn, Tierra del Fuego island, and the Strait of Magellan. Also it includes the Antarctic territory claimed by Chile.I went to the NAVIMAG office to book my boat ticket to Puerto Montt. From Puerto Natales in southern Chile there are no roads northward, unless you care to detour via Argentina, so you travel by ferry to Puerto Montt.

Puerto Natales is a city in Chilean Patagonia. Puerto Natales is the capital of both the commune (Spanish: comuna) of Natales and the province of Última Esperanza, (Spanish for Last Hope), one of the four provinces that make up the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region in the southernmost part of Chile. The city is located 247 km (153 mi) northwest of Punta Arenas and is the final passenger port of call for the Navimag ferry sailing from Puerto Montt into the Señoret Channel as well as the primary transit point for travelers to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
Punta Arenas (English: Sandy Point) is a commune and the capital city of Chile's southernmost region, Magallanes and Antartica Chilena. The city was officially renamed Magallanes in 1927, but in 1938 it was changed back to Punta Arenas. It is the largest city south of the 46th parallel south. The city is since 1977 one of the only two free ports in Chile.
Sitting by the Strait of Magellan Punta Arenas was established originally as a tiny penal colony in 1848. During the rest of the 1800s, it became increasingly large and important as international trade across the straits grew and the countryside around experienced a gold rush and a sheep farming boom around 1900. Chile effectively used Punta Arenas to exert sovereignty in southernmost South America leading to the strait of Magellan being recognized as Chilean in the Boundary treaty of 1881 between Chile and Argentina. The geopolitical importance of Punta Arenas has remained high in the 20th and 21st centuries as the city is important for logistics in the Antarctic peninsula.
Puerto Natales in Patagonia Chile
Puerto Natales is a port city on the Señoret Channel in Chile’s southern Patagonia. It’s the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park to the northwest, and the port for boats touring the Patagonian fjords. The Municipal Historical Museum in the city center exhibits artifacts from the region’s indigenous population. To the north is the vast Mylodon Cave, once inhabited by prehistoric, slothlike mylodons.

Puerto Natales Travel Guide - Chile Memorable Experience
Puerto Natales is a city in Chilean Patagonia. It is the capital of both the commune of Natales and the province of Última Esperanza, one of the four provinces that make up the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region in the southernmost part of Chile. Puerto Natales is the only city in the province. It is located 247 km (153 mi) northwest of Punta Arenas. It is the final passenger port of call for the Navimag ferry sailing from Puerto Montt into the Señoret Channel as well as the primary transit point for travellers to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
It is located at the opening of Última Esperanza Sound and was originally inhabited by the Kawésqar or Alacaluf people and the Aoniken or Tehuelche people. The first European to discover the area where the city is located was Juan Ladrillero, a Spanish explorer who was looking for the Strait of Magellan's western passage in 1557.
The city was later settled by European immigrants, primarily Germans, British, including English, Welsh and Scots, Croats, Greeks, Italians and Spaniards. It was then settled by Chilean people, with a substantial number coming from the island of Chiloé, all attracted by the sheep breeding industry. The city was formally founded under the government of Ramón Barros Luco on May 31, 1911. Nowadays, one of its most important industries is tourism although the cattle and aquaculture industries are also significant.
Puerto Natales has many tourist facilities and it has become a common base for excursions to the world-renowned Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most popular national parks in Chile. Its main feature, the mountainous “towers” (torres), are an impressive and unique rock formation known as Torres del Paine. They comprise the Torre Central (Central Tower), 2,800 meters high; Torre Sur (South Tower) 2,850 m; and Torre Norte (North Tower) 2,248 m. Named a Unesco World Biosphere Reserve, the park is home to hundreds of different birds and many species of mammal, as well as the third largest ice field on the planet.
Twenty four kilometres (15 mi) northwest of Puerto Natales, along the flanks of the Cerro Benitez Mountains, lies the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument. It comprises several caves and a rock formation called the Silla del Diablo (Devil's Chair). The main cave, used by prehistoric tribes, is notable for the discovery in 1895 of skin, bones and other parts of a giant ground sloth known as the Mylodon (Mylodon darwini), today extinct. The area includes the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park; and the Alacalufes National Reserve. The latter is the site of the Fjord of the Mountains, Cordillera Riesco and Cordillera Sarmiento.
A museum in nearby Punta Arenas. The Nao Victoria was one of the five ships (and the only one that survived) that sailed in the Spanish Armada de Molucca expedition which discovered the meeting point the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.Companies offering boat trips through the Patagonian fjords depart from Puerto Natales Pier and take tourists to view the region’s many icebergs.
There are plenty of hostels and residentials around the town. There are also many Hospedajes. The (mostly) women of the hospedajes wait for the bus to come and try to talk tourists into their home. Many people continue to the north to El Calafate and El Chalten and on to the Carretera austral. All busses leave from the bus terminal.
The gateway to Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, this town feeds off tourism, an all-you-can-eat feast with unwavering demand. Boutique beers and wine tastings have overtaken tea time, and gear shops have replaced the yarn sellers. While there are growing services that cater to international tastes, there's appeal in Natales' corrugated-tin houses strung shoulder to shoulder and cozy granny-style lodgings. Most notably, in spite of a near-constant swarm of visitors, the town still maintains the glacial pace of living endemic to Patagonia.
( Puerto Natales - Chile ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Puerto Natales . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Puerto Natales - Chile

We continue our drive in Patagonia. After Torres del Paine we went south to see the penguins on Isla Magdalena. It was a really rough ride to the island and back.
I think this is the most most beautiful part of our trip.
We have been amazed of this part of the world.
