J-15 fighter takes off from China's first domestically built aircraft carrier Shandong
A J-15 fighter took off this week from aircraft carrier Shandong, demonstrating the war ship's good condition after its commission to the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy. The Type 002 carrier, Shandong (hull number 17) was delivered and commissioned on December 17. The Shandong ship is China's first independently designed, built and outfitted aircraft carrier. Construction of the carrier began in November 2013. It was launched in April 2017 at a shipyard in Dalian City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, and conducted its first sea trial in May 2018.

The second aircraft carrier of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, the Type 001, has begun its first sea trials to prepare it for entry into active service. China’s Xinhua news stated regarding the development: “Our country’s second aircraft carrier set sail from its dock in the Dalian shipyard for relevant waters to conduct a sea trial mission, mainly to inspect and verify the reliability and stability of mechanical systems and other equipment.” The carrier represents the first to be built fully indigenously, with its predecessor the Liaoling purchased partly built from Ukraine and completed in China. The warship was launched on April 26th 2017, and outfitting with weapons and internal systems was completed on April 25th 2018. It is set to be commissioned in to service in late 2018.

Final Rehearsal Held for Navy Day Celebrations in St. Petersburg
A final rehearsal was held on the Neva River Friday for Navy Day which to be celebrated on July 30 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
At 09:30, several bridges across the Neva River opened for ships including anti-mine vessel Alexander Obukhov, Dmitrov submarines, as well as the Admiral Makarov frigate to take part in the final rehearsal. Thousands of local residents stopped to watch the awesome performance.
Coincidently, Chinese Type 052D destroyer, Hefei, which just finished a joint drill with Russia in the Baltic Sea, was docking in Neva River, and attracted many residents.
It is really a modern warship. I hope our Russian warships and Chinese warships can stay in one camp, and the two countries make the joint efforts to strive for world peace and humans' wellbeing, said Oleg, local resident.
According to Russia's defense ministry, the celebrations of this year's Navy Day will be held simultaneously on July 30 in two places. Light ships will take part in the parade in St. Petersburg, while a larger-scale parade, with a dozen warships including Russia's nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy (Peter the Great) and the largest typhoon-class submarine, will be held in Kronstadt, the base of Russia's Baltic Fleet.

Author Asks: Are Exhibited Bodies from Chinese Political Prisoners?
[Matt Gnaizda, NTD Reporter]:
In Vienna, Austria on Friday, author and journalist Ethan Gutmann held a press conference outside the Natural History Museum, which is holding the Body Worlds exhibit. Gutmann questioned whether some of the bodies in this exhibit may have belonged to Chinese political prisoners.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
We now have a show which is travelling around which may have the DNA of murdered prisoners of conscience. May.
The Body Worlds organizers say they are all from legitimate sources—Caucasians who gave their consent. But Gutmann is not so sure.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
The legs on some of the female specimens appear to be unnaturally short. The frames are a little frail; the skulls are a little fine. I'm not an expert, but these look Chinese.
Body Worlds is on tour in Vienna this summer. And there are half a dozen others around the world, including this one in Times Square, New York.
On display: plastinated bodies. The liquid and fat have been replaced with type of plastic so the bodies can be preserved forever. The technology was developed by this man: German anatomist Gunther von Hagens. In 1999, von Hagens set up a plastination company in China.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
Von Hagens complained that the Chinese don't donate their bodies. Well, maybe you could use the body of a homeless person? No. Because Chinese regulations require that such a body be held in the morgue for 30 days. To plastinate a body, it must be fresh. But von Hagens had one thing going for him. He had the support and friendship of the mayor of Dalian. He even got a fancy award from this mayor in 1999. The mayor's name was Bo Xilai.
You might recognize him. By 2012, Bo Xilai had become a high-ranking communist official known for both his charisma and his brutality. He was ousted amidst political infighting.
But back in 1999, Bo Xilai was the mayor of Dalian. And that was the year that the Chinese regime launched a deadly persecution of the Falun Gong spiritual practice. An estimated several million practitioners have been sent to labor camps, and tens of thousands killed. Bo Xilai oversaw the persecution in Dalian at the time.
[Levi Browde, Falun Dafa Info Center Spokesperson]:
Liaoning province was one of the most deadly provinces for Falun Gong practitioners, particularly in the early part of the persecution from 1999 through the early 2000s... And as part of that, a lot of Falun Gong practitioners disappeared; a lot of them were killed. So that we do know. We also know that the bodies exhibit opened up a plastination factory in Dalian and under Bo Xilai's leadership. And we also know that in China, people don't donate their bodies to this kind of thing. So those are the things we do know. You put that all together and I think it raises a lot of question marks.
There is no proof that any of these bodies are from Falun Gong practitioners or other political prisoners. Or even that they're Chinese. Recently, von Hagens says none of them are—and that he cremated any questionable Chinese bodies.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
But there is a way to be sure: Test the DNA.
Gutmann wants von Hagens to give permission to an independent laboratory to collect small DNA samples from each of the bodies. This can be done without causing damage.
DNA can show whether the person is Chinese. It can also prove family relationships.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
If any samples are Chinese, we can match them, over time, with DNA from Chinese families who lost a loved one because they were Falun Gong.
There is also a competing exhibit that's similar. It's called Bodies: The Exhibition. The bodies there were provided by von Hagen's rival and former colleague, Sui Hongjin. And Gutmann is hoping that if von Hagens provides DNA samples, that will put pressure on Sui.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
Von Hagens can set the example. He knows that Sui's show is a travesty.
If competition plus clearing his name doesn't motivate von Hagens to allow the DNA to be tested, Gutmann may ask the courts for help.
[Ethan Gutmann, Author, Losing the New China]:
Look, I said in the beginning that this is about one question: 'Who are these people?' And the answer is: 'Give us the DNA.'

+++AUDIO AS INCOMING+++
1. Wide of Dana White coming to podium
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Dana White, Pentagon Spokeswoman:
First, I want to extend our condolences to the loved ones of the nine crewmembers who died in a C-130 crash yesterday in Savannah, Georgia. I also want to share our thoughts and prayers with the family, friends and comrades of Specialist Gabriel Conde of Loveland, Colorado. Specialist Conde was killed in action on April 30th as a result of enemy small-arms fire in Afghanistan. These deaths are a somber reminder of the tremendous risk our servicemen and women take every day to defend our nation at home and abroad.

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Dana White, Pentagon Spokeswoman:
So they are very serious incidents. There have been two minor -- there have been two minor injuries. This activity poses a true -- a threat to our airmen. We have formally demarched the Chinese government, and we've requested that the Chinese investigate these -- these incidents.
5. Wide of Dana White at podium
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Dana White, Pentagon Spokeswoman:
I don't have a total number, but I will tell you those -- those were two minor injuries. It's enough that we're concerned, that we demarched them. So -- and we've asked them to investigate it. It's a serious matter. And so we're taking it very seriously. (JOURNALIST QUESTION: And you're confident it's the -- it's Chinese nationals that are doing this?) We're -- we're confident.

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Dana White, Pentagon Spokeswoman:
In terms of objections, these are -- these are sovereign questions. The Djibouti government is free to work with who they want to. Our concern is the safety of our service members. And so we raised the issue with China, and we expect China to -- to investigate it thoroughly.

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Dana White, Pentagon Spokeswoman:
We've been very vocal about our concerns about them militarizing and these artificial islands. China has to realize that they've benefited from the free navigation of the sea. And the U.S. Navy has been the guarantor of that. We will continue to -- to do our operations and ensure that the Chinese understand that they cannot, and should not, be hostile and understand that the Pacific is -- is a place in which much commerce goes through. And it's in their interest to ensure that there's a free navigation of international waters.

STORYLINE:
The Pentagon says the U.S. has issues a formal complaint to China over the use of lasers near the military base in Djibouti (jih-BOO'-tee) that were directed at
aircraft and resulted in minor injuries to two American pilots.
Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White says the U.S. is confident that Chinese nationals are responsible for the use of the lasers.
She says the incidents represent a serious threat to U.S. airmen.
She says the U.S. has asked China to investigate the incidents.
The Pentagon says reports from pilots indicate that on three occasions the lasers were military grade and came from the Chinese base nearby.
The U.S. has notified airmen to exercise caution when flying in that area.
The Chinese recently built a base near Camp Lemonnier, the U.S. base in Djibouti.

SUMMARY
=======
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a country in East Asia and the world's most populous country, with a population of around 1.404 billion. Covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the third- or fourth-largest country by total area, depending on the source consulted. Governed by the Communist Party of China, the state exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing), and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
China emerged as one of the world's earliest civilizations, in the fertile basin of the Yellow River in the North China Plain. For millennia, China's political system was based on hereditary monarchies, or dynasties, beginning with the semi-legendary Xia dynasty in 21st century BCE. Since then, China has expanded, fractured, and re-unified numerous times. In the 3rd century BCE, the Qin unified core China and established the first Chinese empire. The succeeding Han dynasty, which ruled from 206 BC until 220 AD, saw some of the most advanced technology at that time, including papermaking and the compass, along with agricultural and medical improvements. The invention of gunpowder and movable type in the Tang dynasty (618–907) and Northern Song (960–1127) completed the Four Great Inventions. Tang culture spread widely in Asia, as the new maritime Silk Route brought traders to as far as Mesopotamia and Horn of Africa. Dynastic rule ended in 1912 with the Xinhai Revolution, when a republic replaced the Qing dynasty. The Chinese Civil War resulted in a division of territory in 1949, when the Communist Party of China established the People's Republic of China, a unitary one-party sovereign state on Mainland China, while the Kuomintang-led government retreated to the island of Taiwan. The political status of Taiwan remains disputed.
Since the introduction of economic reforms in 1978, China's economy has been one of the world's fastest-growing with annual growth rates consistently above 6 percent. As of 2016, it is the world's second-largest economy by nominal GDP and largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). China is also the world's largest exporter and second-largest importer of goods. China is a recognized nuclear weapons state and has the world's largest standing army and second-largest defense budget. The PRC is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council as it replaced the ROC in 1971, as well as an active global partner of ASEAN Plus mechanism. China is also a leading member of numerous formal and informal multilateral organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), WTO, APEC, BRICS, the BCIM, and the G20. China is a great power and a major regional power within Asia, and has been characterized as a potential superpower.
Soldiers Killed To Maintain Stability, Truth Needed

After four soldiers from Jilin deserted the garrison troops with
a rifle, there were not any news reports of their attack.
But these four people were wanted by the authorities, and
three were killed by Liaoning's special policemen.
This brought about doubts from soldiers, netizens and people
related to law.
They required authorities to publicize the reasons and truth
about the killing of the active duty soldiers.
They also accused the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of
arbitrarily killing soldiers for maintaining stability.
On Nov 9th, Jilin's Public Security issued an emergency notice
stating that in the early morning,
four soldiers from the local Garrison of Troop 65331 escaped,
carrying a 95 automatic rifle and 795 bullets.
Among the four soldiers, 23-year-old Yang Fan who enlisted
in the army in 2005, was a sergeant squad leader, as a gun repair soldier.
The other three soldiers Linpeng Han, Li Xinxin, and
Zhang Yan were new soldiers and just joined the army in December last year,
coming respectively from Liaoning, Hunan, and Heilongjiang.
They were target soldiers.
The Public Security informed banks and gold shops to
strengthen preventive measures.
Mr. Li, a veteran from the northeast, and another veteran
pointed out that it was obvious that the four soldiers did not intend to rob.
Li: These persons in the incident were in the same military,
and in the same troop.
Then he also said that it's certain something happened
in his family.
And in the troops, for a second class sergeant such as he,
it's normal to go to the armory to pick up a gun and carry weapons.
Moreover, among four of them, only one took away a gun,
and the other three didn't.
This is probably informative. If they were going to rob,
each of them would take the gun away. That's for sure.
At about 3pm in the afternoon, the four soldiers took a taxi
along State Road 202 from Jilin to Shenyang.
They were intercepted by special policemen who
were checking vehicles in Caoshi Town, Qingyuan County,
and Liaoning Province. The two sides exchanged fire.
In the end, three of the soldiers were killed, and the fourth,
who was wounded, was placed under arrest.
Beijing-based lawyer Zhang Kai wrote a microblog saying,
If they were just carrying a gun without posing any threat
to society, no one has the right to kill them.
But his microblog could not be read quickly.
Zhang Zanning, Nanjing-based lawyer and law professor of
Southeast University, holds the same view.
Zhang Zanning: If he just carried a gun,
I think no one can kill him.
If he is a deserter, he will be arrested.
You can't put him to death.
Yang Fan's hometown is Hongsheng Town, Fushun City,
which is less than one hundred kilometers away from Caoshi Town, where the gunfight happened.
Some netizens disclosed that the reason behind his decision
is that Yang Fan's family suffered from house demolition.
His family members have had serious conflicts with the local government.
It made Yang Fan go back for revenge.
The other three came to help him out of loyalty.
Zhang Zanning: This matter is still not confirmed.
We can only say that if it's true, it just shows that they were dissatisfied with something.
Whether they were deserters or not is unconfirmed.
Maybe he wanted to do something for achieving a fair statement.
And now we don't know the truth of the situation.
The Public Security also released the four soldiers'
QQ account numbers.
Before their joining the army, they reproduced a large amount
of internet articles about love and constellations.
Among them, Li Xinxin wrote an article Morning mood:
seeking freedom. He also said he would work hard.
NTD reporters Chen Han, Li Yuanhan and Sun Ning
《神韵》2011世界巡演新亮点
American PSD
Genre: Reality Series
Title: American PSD. WGA # 1456737
Premise: Dog the Bounty Hunter meets Jersey Shore, Miami Ink and Real World. The lives of Blue Diamond Strategies' A team (comprised of veterans who are former combat Marines, Special Operations, and former Navy Seaman; along with a few political and business minded recent college grads; and even a few single parents.) The show will portrait their professional lives of starting and running a premier executive protection company, along with a glimpse into their personal lives.
You will get to see these characters during their journey of starting a business; seeking celebrities and other high-profile clients from the entertainment, political and business world; training (gun range, gym, board meetings, etc.,); their development as a team; their goal to become the best in the industry; and watch them as they wind down and go out on their off time because these guys work hard and play hard.
Since many of Blue Diamonds principal players are emigrating from outside Minnesota, there will be a house for a handful of the guys to showcase the camaraderie, drama and everyday lives of some of America's highest trained warriors... It's the Real World—only with a bunch of guns, black SUV's and testosterone... Blue Diamond already has the ability to work outside Minnesota in California, and Baja California, so the action is fresh and fast paced.
Background: While serving in Iraq in the Marine Corps, David thought of taking what he did in Iraq (Personal Security Detail) and doing the same in back stateside. While thinking about how he would run the business, he decided on the name Blue Diamond Strategies. The concept was simple, instead of having run of the mill old bodyguards in a 1 man security detail, why not put a highly trained team detail (2-4 agents +) who have millions of dollars of US Military training, coupled with needy clients, to provide them high end, elite team security. Through David's three tours of duty he become close friends—brothers, with his fellow Marines and decided to bring these same friends who had fought side by side with David in the Battles of Fallujah and Ramadi-- as well as gun fights in Al Asad, Hit and Baghdad..

STORYLINE
US forces serving in Afghanistan remembered friends and colleagues on Monday, in solemn Memorial Day ceremonies to commemorate their nation's war dead.
At the sprawling Bagram Air Field, the largest US military base in Afghanistan, about 400 soldiers in camouflage uniforms and brown combat boots stood at attention for a moment's silence as General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of some 94-thousand US troops in the country, led the ceremony.
A bugler played taps and a colour guard displayed the US flag and the flags of units serving in eastern Afghanistan where the base is located, about 30 miles (50 kilometres) north of Kabul.
A steel construction beam from the World Trade Centre destroyed in the September 11, 2001 attacks was unveiled, with the inscription WTC 9 11 01.
The beam was donated by a citizens' group, the Sons and Daughters of America of Breezy Point, a suburb in Queens, New York, where 29 victims of the September 11 attacks lived, according to a letter read out at the ceremony.
General McChrystal praised the soldiers for their courage given the likelihood that they will lose more friends during their tours.
The fact that people are willing to stand up and do what's difficult, they're willing to stand up and do what's frightening, and they're willing to stand up and do what often costs, really is the measure of not just a person, but of a people, General McChrystal said.
Representatives from NATO countries also joined US Forces in the commemoration.

SUMMARY
=======

SUMMARY
=======
Manchukuo (traditional Chinese: 滿洲國; pinyin: Mǎnzhōuguó; Japanese: 満州国; rōmaji: Manshūkoku; State of Manchuria; in other Axis languages: Italian: Manciukuò and German: Mandschukuo) was a puppet state of the Empire of Japan in Northeast China and Inner Mongolia from 1932 until 1945. It was founded as a republic, but in 1934 it became a constitutional monarchy. It had limited international recognition and was under the de facto control of Japan.
The area, collectively known as Manchuria, was the homeland of the Manchus, including the emperors of the Qing dynasty. In 1931, the region was seized by Japan following the Mukden Incident and a pro-Japanese government was installed one year later with Puyi, the last Qing emperor, as the nominal regent and later emperor. Manchukuo's government was dissolved in 1945 after the surrender of Imperial Japan at the end of World War II. The territories formally claimed by the puppet state were first seized in the Soviet invasion of Manchuria in August 1945, and then formally transferred to Chinese administration in the following year.Manchus formed a minority in Manchukuo, whose largest ethnic group were Han Chinese. The population of Koreans increased during the Manchukuo period, and there were also Japanese, Mongols, White Army Russians and other minorities. The Mongol regions of western Manchukuo were ruled under a slightly different system in acknowledgement of the Mongolian traditions there. The southern part of the Liaodong Peninsula was ruled by Japan as the Kwantung Leased Territory.
