DEADLY BLACK MAMBA ENCOUNTER

When a black mamba crosses a farm yard and is spotted by the family dogs the scene is set for disaster. Dogs and snakes are never a great mix and the story never ends well for any of the parties. Rescues of this nature are normally sad affairs.

Green mamba spotted in Ballito garden

Thanks to local snake catcher Neville Wolmarans of Ndlondlo Reptile Park, who happened to be in the area at the time of the call-out, the snake was quickly captured and removed to roam in a more welcome setting.

NAJA SUBFULVA: UP CLOSE WITH COBRA'S

The Brown Forest Cobra is active both during the day and night and favours dense bush.
It is extremely shy and quick to escape – bites are rare. When cornered it will lift its head well off the ground and spread a narrow hood.

Forest Cobra venom is predominantly neurotoxic with cytotoxic elements. Polyvalent antivenom is effective against its venom.

In this short video it is evident that even when surrounded inside a Cobra enclosure, your calm actions and respect towards the cobra is vital.
These gorgeous guys at Ndlondlo Reptile Park just outside Ballito in KZN South Africa are defnitely some of the most gorgeous I have seen.
As relaxed as they seem, they were continuously watching my every move. I posed no threat, and they knew that..

NIGHT TIME MOZAMBIQUE MADNESS

It's one thing responding to night time calls,this is an extremely common thing! But when that call involves a member of the public that has necked a black mamba and now doesn't want to release the head for the fear of getting bitten. A mad dash of about 35 km to prevent tragedy.All your senses are strained and your blood to adrenaline ratio does a flip!
