श्री वेंकटेश्वर स्वामी मंदिर / बालाजी मंदिर, नेरुळ :-
नेरुळ येथील बालाजी मंदिर आणि आसपास चा परिसर पाहिल्यावर आपल्याला दक्षिण भारतात आलो आहे कि काय असा भास होतो.
हे मंदिर म्हणजे तिरुपती येथील बालाजी मंदिराची प्रतिकृती आहे.
या मंदिराची उभारणी 18 एप्रिल 1990 रोजी कांची कामकोटी पीठमचे शंकराचार्य स्वामी यांच्या हस्ते उद्घाटन करून उभारणी केली होती.
Balaji Temple at Nerul, stands as an exact replica of the Balaji temple at Tirupati.
The Balaji Temple is the situated in Nerul, Navi Mumbai which is built on the lines of Venkateshwara Temple at Tirupati and has been constructed according to the Shilpashastras. The main deity is Lord Balaji, in addition to Lord Balaji there are deities like Ganapathy, Anjaneyar in sitting (yoga) position, Narasimhar and Padbavathy Thayar. There is a sannathy for Ramanujar also and it is known that Ganapathy Sannathy in a Balaji temple is unusual as per practice in the South, the reason maybe due to the stature of Ganapati in Maharashtra.
The concept of having a temple of Ishta-devata in the residential complexes and even at homes is ancient in India.
This concept emphasises the proximity of the deity and the devotee.
It helps to the total surrender of jeevatma to the Paramatma.
On 18th April 1990 the SLN sabha was inaugurated by Dr. S Venkata Varadan, Director Nehru Planetarium, Mumbai. and soon after a few months i.e. on 4th August 1990, it was registered as a public trust.
From this date onwards the SLN sabha started many ambitious and genuine projects, considering the need of people residing at Nerul.
At first, the sabha decided to build a temple of Lord Venkateshvara.
The things worked out fast with the efforts of the members, and on 8th December 1991, on a pre-decided site at Nerul, Bhoomi poojan for the temple was performed by Shankaracharya Swamiji of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham.
