St Petersburg, Russia - Neva River Cruise and Marinsky Theater Travel Tips
We went to St Petersburg to celebrate Clayd's birthday. We ran out of Russian Rubles and the resto only accepts cash. If you wish to visit Russia, see our travel tips in the vlog below so you won't make the same mistakes we did.
St Petersburg is a beautiful cultural city. It survived the attack during WW2. Many of Carlo Rossi's imperial architecture are still intact. One can cruise along the Neva River, see colorful bridges, and see the original Swan Lake production at the Marinsky Theatre. The experience was like being teleported into the (peaceful and rich side of the) Soviet Era!
Here's a few travel tips:
1. Do not use your phone as a hotspot when using a local Russian simcard - it will cause your account to be deactivated
2. Be cautious and make sure you get your immigration slips (sign 2 times) from the immigration officer - they almost forgot to give me one
3. Buy the metro train 3 days unlimited pass - very useful in exploring Moscow
4. Buy a MTS sim (worth 300 Rubles) - good coverage, good 10gb data speed
5. Pay everything with credit card / paywave if possible
6. Money changers only buy Euros, USD, Jap Yen, CAD, and pounds
7. Ride Uber instead of arranging an airport pickup. It's much cheaper!
