El agua cae en una pequeña finca situada a la entrada de Capilerilla, junto a Pitres, en plena Alpujarra. Eugenio Salquero riega su almáciga.-o simentera- con el sistema de careo que a lo largo de miles de años ha convertido La Alpujarra en un vergel: Guía el agua para regar, primero, y que se filtre, después.
Eugenio tiene mas de 85 años y, cuando llega agosto, antes de la salida del sol, toma papel y lápiz y observa el cielo. Hace cabañuelas o, lo que es lo mismo, con métodos tradicionales intenta predecir el tiempo atmosférico a largo plazo. Las nubes, el viento, el agua, las estrellas, y hasta si se ve o no el mar desde la Sierra le hablan del tiempo que habrá, mes a mes, durante el próximo año a la manera que lo hacía su abuelo. «El clima está muy mal. La gente como yo lo observa. Las estrellas Cabrillas, que eran siete, han desaparecido. Muchas estrellas han desaparecido. Luceros también han desaparecido. Todo esto es de la contaminación que hay», zanja.
Aunque, como cada día, se ha levantado a las seis para atender a gallinas, conejos, cerdos y mulas, ahora se mueve azada en mano como un bailarín de claqué. Hablamos durante varias horas sobre por qué hace agricultura ecológica por convicción «todos los venenos que le ponga a la tierra me los como yo», sobre cómo este año hay más agua y fuentes, acerca de por qué y cómo reproduce sus semillas y su avena autóctona, por qué usar mulos y vacas para labrar, y distintos aperos. Durante años Eugenio estuvo muy atento a cada detalle de riego y para que no caiga en el olvido antes de marchar me lee un pedazo de su Constitución y su ley.
Abandono Capilerilla saciada de comer y beber viandas y vino hechos a la manera de siempre, y le doy las gracias.
LAS CABAÑUELAS son el método tradicional para predecir el tiempo a largo plazo y mes a mes. Se basan en la tradición heredada y la experiencia del experto, que suele ser un hombre de campo. En España se usó este sistema hasta mediados del siglo pasado pero ya apenas se utiliza. El experto en cabañuelas observa los primeros 24 días de agosto para pronosticar el tiempo de los siguientes doce meses; los primeros doce días pronostican los meses desde agosto y los siguientes doce sirven para hacer el cálculo es al revés.
Trabajando en el campo para seguir viviendo de la forma más natural, Eugenio Salguero Quirantes, conocido también como el ‘Hombre del Tiempo’ de Capilerilla, comenzó a ayudar a su familia hace ocho décadas, Vive de la forma más natural y menos artificial y se llama Eugenio Salguero Quirantes, nacido hace 88 años en el pueblo de Capilerilla, llamado hasta hace décadas Capilerilla de Ferreira, anejo del municipio alpujarreño de La Taha. Eugenio, como se encuentra bien de salud y no le gusta estarse quieto sigue trabajando en el campo para no perder la costumbre y consumir productos naturales y ecológicos. Eugenio, el ‘Hombre del Tiempo’ de Capilerilla, tiene dos hijos, cuatro nietos y una biznieta. Su señora Isabel falleció en 1977.
Eugenio pudo ir a la escuela quince noches nada más porque empezó a trabajar en la agricultura a los ocho años. Quince meses después comenzó a guardar ovejas en la sierra. Su padre se llamaba Manuel y su madre Carmen. Eugenio es el mayor de seis hermanos. Hizo la mili en Granada solo seis meses por ser excedente de cupo.
Eugenio Salguero casi siempre ha trabajado en el campo y en la ganadería. Cuando tenía 27 años y un mes de edad contrajo matrimonio. A Alemania se fue a trabajar a una fábrica de materiales en 1962 y allí estuvo dos años y nueve meses. Eugenio volvió a su terruño al tener conocimiento que su mujer, había enfermado. Eugenio, aparte de labrar sus fincas, algunas de viñedos, ha llegado a tener 29 vacas, entre otros animales. Ahora sigue teniendo mucho campo, una bodega familiar, dos mulos, seis cabras y un macho, una perra llamada ‘Leona’, varios gatos y gallinas ponedoras.
También, el ‘incansable’ Eugenio, tiene por costumbre cebar y poner grandes y hermosos en la cuadra de su vivienda del tiempo de los moriscos, cuatro lechoncillos adquiridos en una granja de Pinos del Valle. En el mes de mayo los suele comprar y en Navidad los suele sacrificar para el gasto de la casa y para su familia. Los marranos, que suelen pesar cada uno unas veinte arrobas, son alimentados con productos del campo. Además, Eugenio, predice el tiempo a través de las cabañuelas. Mirando al cielo sabe desentrañar los misterios del tiempo atmosférico. Eugenio espera que este año llueva bastante según las cabañuelas..................

Casa Naturales sits in an ancient terraced olive grove and was self-built by the owners to a high standard, with many unique features. Built in traditional Alpujarran style, the house has a south facing terrace not only with panoramic views of mountains, a lake and the sea, but on a clear day the Rif Mountains in Morocco. The terraces have been creatively landscaped to include several productive fruit, vegetable and ornamental gardens, all organic that have been opened to the public in recent years to raise funds for local charities.
The main house has a large airy, beamed open plan kitchen, living, and dining room that opens onto the terrace to make the most of outdoor living, possible in southern Spain for most of the year. The layout is a great social space for entertaining family and friends.
There is an impressive stone fireplace that is double sided with the master bedroom, providing plenty of warmth in the cooler winter months. The master ensuite bathroom has its own sunken Moroccan bath, with local handmade tiles and integral lighting. An extensive range of bespoke, locally crafted wardrobes provide extensive storage in the bedroom.
The kitchen is open plan with plenty of storage, a cooker, fridge and an interesting tree feature. There is an additional cloakroom and utility/store room with washing machine in the main house. The house was designed and built to make the most of the winter sun through passive solar heating and to keep the house cool during the Spanish summer.
There is a self-contained apartment below, with two good sized en-suite bedrooms a double and a twin. The apartment has its own kitchen diner with wood burning stove, is fully equipped and suitable for holiday lets, as well as for visiting family and friends.
To maximise the outdoor living there is a wooden pool-house with a fully equipped kitchen and dining terrace, next to the swimming pool, making a superb entertainment area for many months of the year. The landscaped gardens offer breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside and have been carefully nurtured over the last 14 years to give colour and interest all year round. Due to the longer growing season the vegetable garden provides produce all year round. There are additional outbuildings, including a potting shed, workshop and stone casita that could be converted (subject to usual permissions).

Parking in a thankfully shaded area, you step out your vehicle and are first struck by the peace and tranquillity in the air. No sounds except the occasional bird chirruping or shepherd’s hound in the distance. Stroll up to the covered veranda along the path paved with local slate and as you turn around, you pause for a moment gazing at the view across the white mountain village of Lanjarón framed perfectly by the arches of the patio. Step inside and you’re in the large open plan kitchen/diner and living space. The pink marble work surface is cool to your touch and the view from the sink is of course the one that just took your breath away outside. Tearing yourself away, you notice the large wood burner in front of the rug. That will be perfect for snuggling in front of on wintry evenings with a glass of red and a good book. A door off this space is a storeroom currently but could be used as a downstairs en-suite bedroom for those guests who prefer to not use the stairs. If you do go up, the large master bedroom spoils you with a large balcony to relax at sunset or greet the mornings with sun salutations. The en-suite here is decorated with charming blue and white tiling and the traditional Moorish-style windows.
Moving to the next separate building on this plot, you pass by a little seating area behind which are two more Moorish-style windows peeking back at you. This building has been converted into 3 separate en-suite rooms, two of which have their own kitchen facilities too. The antique wood burners in the two ground floor rooms are as practical as they are stunning. Each space is unique in character and you can just tell how loved and cared for it has been. The upstairs room has a large balcony, for those panoramic views. The two rooms downstairs share a big balcony with a delightful wooden and white-washed gazebo, perfect for holding wedding ceremonies or just sun-bathing. This building provides you with ability to have self-catering guests or perhaps housing independent teenagers.
To the other side of the (current) main house, the pool glistens invitingly as the grapes sway in the breeze under the pergola. The bar has been prettily painted and is a wonderful area for parties or to serve paying guests for a BBQ evening. Just above the pool is another little white building, luring you in for a nose: a double bedroom, kitchenette and sitting area with its own en-suite too of course. This could be ideal for an older relative to live with you whilst remaining independent or, as it is currently, as part of a successful tourism business. Leaving this stand-alone suite, stroll across a secluded lawn area with an incredible avocado tree providing much-loved shade and you realise you’re actually at the back of the main house. However, you find a private patio area with the same handsome slate flooring and a wooden door ajar. Peeking in, you find yourself in another suite. A kitchenette in one corner, stairs down to the en-suite and another impressive wood burner, of course.
There are terraces of land that have housed a caravan for further accommodation, vegetable beds for homegrown produce and beautifully gardens for pollinators and people alike.

Aunque la principal riqueza de esta localidad es la paisajística.
