Things to do in Nevada Travel Guide | USA Road Trip 2017 Video Transcript:
Our trip began in Las Vegas, but having already been there before, we wasted no time on the Strip. After a short night’s rest, we grabbed a hearty breakfast, hopped in our rental car, and hit the road for our first stop of the day: Lake Mead.
Hoover Dam is one of the most visited attractions in Nevada with as many as 1 million people taking the tour every year, and even more driving across the dam.
Fun fact: there is enough concrete in Hoover Dam to build a 4 foot wide sidewalk around the Earth at the Equator. That’s a whole lot of concrete!
Kayaking in Black Canyon was the highlight of the day. We lucked out with blue skies, calm waters, and the scenery was pretty spectacular - especially once we entered the canyon.
Halfway up stream we took a break from kayaking and went on a short hike.
We also stopped at the Emerald Cave, which gets it’s name from the bright emerald green colour reflected in the water.
We had an hour’s journey to reach the Valley of Fire that morning, and it was a very leisurely drive down some scenic stretches of road. We knew we were getting closer to the park when we noticed the landscape colours started becoming more saturated.
Once we entered Valley of Fire State Park, the fun began. This park is known for its rock formations, panoramic vistas, and hiking trails, so there was no shortage of things to see and do.
Back on the road, we hit our first stop on the ET Highway: ET Fresh Jerky! This is an alien-themed shop selling everything from martian soda to alien sunglasses, so we used this as an opportunity to load up on snacks.
After stopping for photos at the ET Highway marker which is covered in stickers, we journeyed on to the Alien Research Centre, which is pretty hard to miss considering they have a giant metal alien standing guard on a hill.
Out front, we spotted a UFO-towing pick-up truck and a green alien welcoming earthlings, while inside we were surrounded by Area 51 warning signs and all sorts of alien-themed souvenirs.
And then it was time to turn around, drive back to Vegas, and fly back home,.
A surprise addition to our Nevada travel guide was visiting Red Rock Canyon, which is just a 20-minute drive from the Vegas Strip.
Our final thoughts? There are way more things to do in Nevada than just Las Vegas and we’re glad we got to experience a mix of nature and quirky attractions on this mini USA road trip! If you have any other suggestions of cool things to see and do around the state, feel free to leave your recommendations in the comments below.

REPORT: Two safest cities are in Southern Nevada
In a report by Safewise, two Southern Nevada cities take the top spots.
Reno, Elko, and Sparks round out the top five; Mesquite and Henderson take the top crowns.
Out here in Henderson, it's a lot safer. I feel a lot more comfortable walking around, resident Alex Ramos said.
Henderson ranks the second safest city in Nevada but a city 90 miles north of Las Vegas holds the spot, Mesquite.
Story:
Nevada's Devils Hole - Portal to an Underworld Area 51- Las Vegas
Nevada's Devils Hole - Portal to an underworld
Legends and mysteries attached to this place are both creepy and fascinating at the same time. One tragic event happened in 1955 when a group a friends decided to take a quick swim and dive in it's warm waters, 2 of the friends never came back up, a search team was quickly dispatched to try and find the boys, the rescue divers went as deep as 315 feet but all they managed to find were the boys snorkels and a fading flashlight that belonged to the swimmers. The bodies were never recovered and they were never seen again.
The Paiute Indians believed that this hole was a portal and entrance to an underworld called Shinauav and it was considered a forbidden place to swim by any of their people. One of their legends states that a maiden once fell into the hole and was immediately dragged underwater only to reaper a few days later on another nearby spring. For centuries Native Americans that lived in the area have reported seeing flying objects around the spring only to disappear underground into the lake.
There are many conspiracy theorists that believe that the hole is actually the entrance to an underground Alien base, so it was no surprise that when Charles Manson heard of these stories he immediately became interested and decided to go find it for himself. Manson roamed through Death valley for days trying to find it until he did. Near Area 51

Las Vegas - Nevada U.S
Las Vegas is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada, the seat of Clark County, and an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment. Las Vegas, which bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, is famous for the number of casino resorts and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, it is the 28th most populous city in the United States with an estimated population by the U.S. Census Bureau of 558,383 as of 2008.The estimated population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area as of 2008, was 1,865,746.
Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. With the growth that followed, at the close of the century Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in the 20th century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. Outdoor lighting displays are everywhere on the Las Vegas Strip and are seen elsewhere in the city as well. As seen from space, the Las Vegas metropolitan area is the brightest city on Earth.
The name Las Vegas is often applied to unincorporated areas that surround the city, especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip. This 4 mi (6.4 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard is mainly in the unincorporated communities of Paradise and Winchester, and continues partly into unincorporated Enterprise. ( source Wikipedia )

SUMMARY
=======
Nevada () is a state in the Western United States. It borders Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast and Utah to the east. Nevada is the 7th most extensive, the 34th most populous, but the 9th least densely populated of the U.S. states. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada's people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area where three of the state's four largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada's capital, however, is Carson City.
Nevada is officially known as the Silver State because of the importance of silver to its history and economy. It is also known as the Battle Born State, because it achieved statehood during the Civil War (the words Battle Born also appear on the state flag); as the Sagebrush State, for the native plant of the same name; and as the Sage-hen State.Nevada is largely desert and semi-arid, much of it within the Great Basin. Areas south of the Great Basin are within the Mojave Desert, while Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada lie on the western edge. About 86% of the state's land is managed by various jurisdictions of the U.S. federal government, both civilian and military. Before European contact, Native Americans of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe tribes inhabited the land that is now Nevada. The first Europeans to explore the region were Spanish. They called the region Nevada (snowy) because of the snow which covered the mountains in winter. The area formed part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain, and became part of Mexico when it gained independence in 1821. The United States annexed the area in 1848 after its victory in the Mexican–American War, and it was incorporated as part of Utah Territory in 1850. The discovery of silver at the Comstock Lode in 1859 led to a population boom that became an impetus to the creation of Nevada Territory out of western Utah Territory in 1861. Nevada became the 36th state on October 31, 1864, as the second of two states added to the Union during the Civil War (the first being West Virginia).Nevada has a reputation for its libertarian laws. In 1940, with a population of just over 110,000 people, Nevada was by far the least-populated state, with less than half the population of the next least-populated state. However, legalized gambling and lenient marriage and divorce laws transformed Nevada into a major tourist destination in the 20th century. Nevada is the only U.S. state where prostitution is legal, though it is illegal in Clark County (Las Vegas), Washoe County (Reno) and Carson City (which, as an independent city, is not within the boundaries of any county). The tourism industry remains Nevada's largest employer, with mining continuing as a substantial sector of the economy: Nevada is the fourth-largest producer of gold in the world.
502-The Narrows AZ, Virgin River Gorge I-15 to St George UT, Most expensive section per mile.
Hello this is RVer Frank with Kathee and Coco.
We are on Interstate 15 or otherwise known as I-15, that runs from San Diego, California to the Canada–US border, through Mohave County in northwest Arizona where we are today.
This is one of my favorite scenic drives Travelin’ out in these parts.
The entire length of I-15 within Utah (and south into Arizona) is designated as the Veterans Memorial Highway.
It is the primary north–south highway in Utah, as the majority of the state's population lives along its corridor including St. George, Provo, Salt Lake City, and Ogden, the latter three being part of the urban area known as the Wasatch Front.
Traffic volume along the Arizona section of I-15 is approximately 23,000 vehicles per day.
The highway is also a part of the CANAMEX Corridor, a trade corridor in North America linking Edmonton, Alberta in Canada and Mexico City.
From Las Vegas, Nevada, I-15 winds and slightly inclines through the Virgin River Gorge here in northwest Arizona.
Despite being isolated from the rest of Arizona, in this remote Arizona Strip, and short in length at 29 and a half miles, it remains notable for its scenic passage through the Virgin River Gorge.
The highway heads in a northeasterly direction from the Nevada border northeast of Mesquite, Nevada, to the Utah border southwest of St. George, Utah.
The south portion of I-15's route was built close to the alignment of the old U.S. Route 91 (US 91), but the northern section that we will be on today, through the Virgin River Gorge, was built along roadless terrain.
The southern section of the highway was complete and open in the early 1960s, but the gorge section was inaccessible until 1973.
When it opened, the Virgin River Gorge passage was the most expensive section of rural Interstate per mile.
The Virgin River Gorge, located between Beaver Dam, Arizona on our left and ahead to St. George, Utah, is a long canyon that has been carved out by the Virgin River.
The Virgin River rises on the Colorado Plateau and created the topography of both Zion National Park and the Virgin River Gorge.
The Gorge connects the southwestern rim of the Colorado Plateau and the northeastern part of the Mojave Desert.
Interstate 15 runs through the canyon and crosses the Virgin River several times, then it crosses the border into Utah and Washington County.
The Virgin River Gorge section of Interstate 15 as I mentioned before is one of the most expensive parts of interstate highway ever constructed , as we wind our way through the gorge you can see the engineering and construction effort that was required to complete this section of I-15.
Here the highway enters Arizona in Mohave County northeast of Mesquite and Las Vegas, Nevada, behind us paralleling the old US 91 heading northeast on an alignment north of the Virgin River.
I-15 parallels the Virgin River for its entire length in Arizona, but the terrain abruptly becomes more rugged as you can see ahead, where the Virgin River Gorge begins.
We just passed the interchanges at Littlefield, where old US 91 turns north to avoid the gorge which was not passable until construction of the I-15 section through the gorge, and where I-15 crosses the river for the first time just beyond.
Ahead, the gorge features limestone cliffs that are as high as 500 feet above the highway.
Within the canyon, through which it ascends northbound and descends southbound, five bridges cross the river.
The highway generally follows the winding course of the river, but several rock cuts bypass bends.
The canyon opens up slightly at the Cedar Pocket interchange (exit 18), allowing for a rest area. This rest area was turned over to the federal Bureau of Land Management in 2002 which maintains the nearby Virgin River Gorge Recreation Area. The rest area was demolished in 2009.

How do I get a spousal visa? -- Las Vegas immigration attorneys
Top Las Vegas immigration attorney discusses how to get spousal visas in Nevada.
More info at or call Las Vegas Defense Group for a consultation at 702-DEFENSE (702-333-3673).
HOW DO OBTAIN A SPOUSAL VISA IN NEVADA?
A foreign spouse of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (LPR) needs a spousal visa in order to come to the U.S. to live indefinitely.
The exact step-by-step process for obtaining an immigrant spousal visa in Nevada depends on whether the sponsoring spouse is a U.S. citizen or a LPR, and whether the foreign spouse is currently overseas or in the U.S.
In any case, the sponsoring spouse needs to submit to the U.S. government an I-130 application and an array of documentation including:
-the marriage certificate,
-passport-style photos of both spouses,
-any supporting evidence that the marriage is legal, such as divorce certificates, death certificates, or proof of name changes,
-two completed copies of G-325A forms, which is where the spouses fill out their biographical information
If the U.S. government grants the U.S. spousal visa petition, the foreign spouse will have legal resident status and can therefore live in the U.S. If the couple has been married less than two years by that time, the foreign spouse will have only conditional green card status, but will have the opportunity to apply to remove the conditions whenever the conditional green card expires.
If the sponsoring visa is a U.S citizen, the foreign spouse can apply for a K-3 visa to live in the U.S. while the immigrant spousal visa application is pending. If the couple has children, the sponsoring spouse can file separate I-130 forms for them when he/she initially files the spousal visa application. Otherwise, the kids might be able to get green cards later on through follow-to-join benefits.

Camping in Death Valley National Park - California 4K
Why would you want to go to Death Valley, California? See why you just might want to go in the stunning 4k video here:
#DeathValley, #California blew us away as we traveled there for our first trip. We set out to find the amazing Death Valley National Park. This place is known for it's world record breaking heat. On top of that, we planned to go #camping here. We arrived at night to the Furnace Creek Campground. The next morning we set off to see Badwater Basin, which is the lowest place in North America. Then we went to the Devil's Golf Course, The Artist Palette and Artist Drive. The colors in these rocks were like nothing we have ever seen before. Then we went on the Golden Canyon hike, which is the most popular #hiking trail in Death Valley. Later we went to Dante's View, which is the best panoramic view of this amazing valley. Finally, we raced to Zabriskie Point to catch an incredible sunset there. The next morning we went back to see this amazing place in the day. We then went to Saltwater creek to see the pupfish play. We stopped for a moment in hopes to find the super bloom, which is flowers growing road side here. Soon after, we went to the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. These are some of the most amazing sand dunes in southern California. Last but not least, we went to hike the Mosaic Canyon trail. The rock formations were like a work of art. There was so much things to do here that we have to visit this epic destination again!

Buffalo Thunder Hotel Resort & Casino - Video Game Arcade Tour (Santa Fe, New Mexico)
Very nice hotel and resort. Nice to see it's not a bunch of casino games crammed in every room possible. They have taken the time and patience to display various art, nice decor, information about the native american reservation and more. They have a small arcade which features some arcade games from the 90s and 00s. They have free beverages for 'gamblers', so grab a drink and enjoy some Time Crisis!
