Back to My Old Northern Home - Ukulele - Family Connections - Kedron Brothers
The Kedron Brothers formed in 2012 comprising Wally Kedron (ukulele, vocals), Roy Kedron (ukulele, vocals), Hank Kedron (ukulele, vocals) and Rusty Kedron (ukulele, vocals), all members of the Family Connections ukulele group (see below).
They entered James Studios on the 3rd of July 2012 to record their tribute to the artist formerly known as Buck Taylor. Buck had been a favourite of the brothers since first seeing him in The Slim Dusty Movie in 1984, and then later seeing him perform live as a support act on a mid-80s Slim Dusty tour. The Nulla Records Buck Taylor album The Road to Bunberai was frequently the music of choice as the brothers honed their musical skills. In fact one of Rusty's prize possesions to this day is his Buck Taylor autographed copy of Road to Bunberai!!
In recording their tribute to Buck, the group first laid a live ukulele track, followed by two vocal tracks. In post production Hank Kedron layered a bass, lead ukulele (modified with a 1 octave lower G-string) and drum track.
The Brothers filmed the clip at the Andsly property on July 21st 2012, in the new Armstrong Creek precinct. The old milking sheds, horses and cattle were the perfect backdrop as the boys sang of homelands, curlews, plains and cattle!
16 Video tracks were recorded that day using a Panasonic HDC-SD900 HD camera, and a HERO2 GoPro action camera also recording HD.
Audio was mixed and mastered using Cakewalk Sonor 8 software. Video was edited using Final Cut Pro X software.
ABOUT FAMILY CONNECTIONS:
Family Connections is a band formed by a large Geelong-based family. Whilst one or two members had previously dabbled with a uke, most of the 15 members had never touched one before March 2012 when the group was formed.
The group meets once per week and spends a wonderful 90 minutes mainly playing joyful songs on the uke, but also telling stories and sharing wonderful recollections. Oh, and we also solve world problems while we are at it!!!
The group has started to gain a YouTube following, with hits recorded in over 30 countries!! Contact us for advice on setting up your own family uke group!!!

Review: Red Hot Chili Peppers at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Last here for a headline tour 12 years ago, Red Hot Chili Peppers bounded on stage in typically dynamic fashion and like Clinton's group, the Chili's started hot, belting through Can't Stop and then into crowd pleaser Scar Tissue from 1999's Californication, an album that signalled a shift in style from the band's previous six albums. Melody and emotion were in, fast and furious was out. Other than the gorgeous title track from Californication there was just three more songs - Aeroplane from 199...
