Jesmond Dene in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Jesmond Dene is a two mile stretch of green land in the centre of Newcastle where you actually feel as if you are in the country walking near the waterfalls and lush green trees. There is also a Pets Corner with birds, peacocks and goats and two children's play parks. A great place to take the family, have a picnic, walk, jog or cycle. It's very popular with dog walkers too.

GREAT BRITAIN: SUNDERLAND (Tyne and Wear, England, UK)
GREAT BRITAIN: SUNDERLAND (Tyne and Wear, England, UK)
Sunderland is a city at the centre of the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough, in Tyne and Wear, England, 10 miles southeast of Newcastle upon Tyne and 12 miles northeast of Durham at the mouth of the River Wear.
Historically in County Durham, there were three original settlements by the mouth of the River Wear on the site of modern-day Sunderland. On the north side of the river, Monkwearmouth was settled in 674 when King Ecgfrith of Northumbria granted land to Benedict Biscop to found Monkwearmouth Monastery. In 685, Ecgfrith further granted Biscop the land adjacent to the monastery on the south side of the river. As the river separated this land from the monastic community, it was henceforth referred to as the sunder-land, and would grow as a fishing settlement before being granted a charter in 1179. West of the medieval village of Sunderland on the south bank, Bishopwearmouth was founded in 930.
Sunderland grew as a port, trading coal and salt. Ships began to be built on the river in the 14th century. By the 19th century, the port of Sunderland had absorbed Bishopwearmouth and Monkwearmouth, owing to the growing economic importance of the shipbuilding docks. Following the decline of the city's traditional industries in the late 20th century, the area grew into a commercial centre for the automotive industry, science and technology and the service sector.
Bede, sometimes called the father of English history, began his monastic career at Monkwearmouth monastery in Sunderland, before moving to the newly-founded Jarrow monastery in 685 (these monasteries together formed the dual Monkwearmouth-Jarrow Abbey). It therefore seems likely that he was born in or near Sunderland. Indeed, Bede later wrote that he was ácenned on sundorlande þæs ylcan mynstres (born in a separate land of this same monastery); here, sundorlande translates literally as separate land but could refer to the village of Sunderland. Alternatively, it is possible that Sunderland was later named in honour of Bede's connections to the area, by people familiar with this statement of his.
A person from Sunderland is sometimes known as a Mackem. However, as this term originated as recently as the early 1980s, it should be noted that its use and acceptance by Sunderland residents, particularly among the older generations, is not universal. At one time, Sunderland-built ships were called Jamies, in contrast with those from Tyneside, which were known as Geordies, although in the case of Jamie it is not known whether this was ever extended to people.

The United Kingdom, officially the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but more commonly known as the UK or Britain, is a sovereign country lying off the north-western coast of the European mainland. The United Kingdom includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands.[15] Northern Ireland is the only part of the United Kingdom that shares a land border with another sovereign state—the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border, the United Kingdom is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the North Sea to the east, the English Channel to the south and the Celtic Sea to the south-west, giving it the 12th-longest coastline in the world. The Irish Sea lies between Great Britain and Ireland. With an area of 242,500 square kilometres (93,600 sq mi), the United Kingdom is the 78th-largest sovereign state in the world. It is also the 22nd-most populous country, with an estimated 66.0 million inhabitants in 2017.
The UK is a unitary parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy. The current monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, who has reigned since 1952, making her the longest-serving current head of state. The United Kingdom's capital and largest city is London, a global city and financial centre with an urban area population of 10.3 million.[19] Other major urban areas in the UK include Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Newcastle.
The United Kingdom consists of four constituent countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast respectively. Apart from England, the countries have their own devolved governments, each with varying powers. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the UK, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation. The medieval conquest and subsequent annexation of Wales by the Kingdom of England, followed by the union between England and Scotland in 1707 to form the Kingdom of Great Britain, and the union in 1801 of Great Britain with the Kingdom of Ireland created the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Five-sixths of Ireland seceded from the UK in 1922, leaving the present formulation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There are fourteen British Overseas Territories, the remnants of the British Empire which, at its height in the 1920s, encompassed almost a quarter of the world's land mass and was the largest empire in history. British influence can be observed in the language, culture and political systems of many of its former colonies.
The United Kingdom is a developed country and has the world's fifth-largest economy by nominal GDP and ninth-largest economy by purchasing power parity. It has a high-income economy and has a very high Human Development Index rating, ranking 14th in the world. It was the world's first industrialised country and the world's foremost power during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The UK remains a great power, with considerable economic, cultural, military, scientific and political influence internationally. It is a recognised nuclear weapons state and is sixth in military expenditure in the world. It has been a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council since its first session in 1946. It has been a leading member state of the European Union (EU) and its predecessor, the European Economic Community (EEC), since 1973; however, a referendum in 2016 resulted in 51.9% of UK voters favouring leaving the European Union, and the country's exit is being negotiated. The United Kingdom is also a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Council of Europe, the G7, the G20, NATO, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Interpol and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Road and boat trip | Farne Islands
Farne Islands are part of the National Trust of England, located in The North of England, half an hour driving from Scotland. It is a place where you can observe grey Atlantic seals and one of the biggest Puffins colonies. Unfortunately we couldn't see any Puffins as the time they spend on land is from April till late July. We knew that but still had the hope. The luck came to us when we saw the big fatty seals laying on the coast, some of them were in the water, closed enough to the boat to see us and wonder what are these strange creatures staring at them from a strange wooden thin. The best thing you can do is actually to go and see the animals in their natural habitat, not closed in ZOOs, we do not tolerate it.
Not only we chose the bad time to go there but and the weather. It was stormy and on our way back to the land was heavy raining. Must say (Maya) that the thing I am most terrified on the planet is the deep depths of the seas and the oceans and that was such a big challenge for me, as we were on a small boat, we could feel every time how a wave was taking the boat and dropping it again, straight away in our stomachs. However, it was such a good experience. Now, we feel we are ready for expedition to Antarctica and my favourite part of the travel will be Drake ????!
We travelled 10 hours from Kent area to Newcastle upon Tyne, according to Google Maps should take 6 hours + big traffic, wrong turns, coffee breaks :) We stayed at Premier Inn in Newcastle upon Tyne and drove 1 more hour to Seahouses where actually you need to take a boat to Farne Islands. You can make your booking online prior to come.
Hope you enjoyed the video! :)
