CrazyCreative Episode 14 : Matt Westfall NEBCO
In this episode I sat down to catch up with Matt Westfall, a beer buddy of mine and head brewer at New England Brewing Company (NEBCO). I met Matt back in 2006 during the height of my college/craft beer/homebrewing days. The time I have to devote to craft beer has severely diminished since becoming a designer and starting my family.
The craft beer scene in CT has exploded in the past few years and I think it’s great. Less than ten years ago CT had only a fraction of the beers that are now available for purchase, and only a handful of craft breweries. Now the beer choice is overwhelming and now BeerAdvocate lists forty-eight breweries in the state. Hooray beer!
In that time NEBCO has expanded to become one of my favorite brewers in the state, and one of the best breweries in the country.
When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California I was exposed to an awesome craft beer scene that hadn’t hit Connecticut yet. There was a time in my life after leaving the Marine Corps and becoming a designer when I wanted to be a professional brewer. I brewed about ten gallons of beer a month with my buddies, I went to beer festivals, and I made excessive road trips to visits breweries and brewpubs all over.
Matt is really cool guy with a great attitude and I’m glad that I was able to reconnect with him on the podcast. The craft beer community is super friendly and fun. I suggest trying their beers when you can. Also, consider making a trip down to their new tasting room at 175 Amity Rd Woodbridge, CT 06525.
You could also check out their beers at a great fundraising event supporting the SMS Research Foundation on August 30th.
Cheers!

To date, there are 104 craft breweries in the state with more than 20 more to open in 2020, which means many more collaborations are coming.
New England Brewing Co. : Coriolis - What Cheers! Review #067 (FAN GUEST REVIEW #1!)
Today I have a special guest! Nick Albert is his name. This is the first review where a fan of the show has come on the show, and supplied the beer for us to review. This wasn't just any beer, this was the extremely limited, highly anticipated return of the Coriolis Double IPA from New England Brewing Company. This beer has only been produced once before, in 2012, and has just made its sophomore appearance last week. It was on for growlers only at the brewery and lasted just a couple of days and that's it. Most people know NEBCO from the Gandhi Bot fame (which you can find my past review of), and this is their only other Double IPA they produce, which is not canned or bottled. Loaded with nothing but the elusive and highly sought after Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand, this one is a true stand out in a world of world-class DIPA's. Enjoy. Cheers!!!
Coriolis Double IPA hopped entirely ( and we're talking a lot here) with Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand.
Style: American Double/Imperial IPA

Availability: Very Limited (Once-A-Year Growlers)
BeerAdvocate Rating: 98/100

In his petition, he mentioned the description of the product, which says, “Gandhi-Bot is an intensely hopped Double India Pale Ale, with a blend of three varieties of american hops. Aromatic and fully vegetarian.”
“This is highly condemnable and punishable, according to Indian Laws and amounts to offence under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act,1971, and Section 124-A of IPC. It is an insult to Mahatma Gandhi, said the petitioner.

Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775, mostly on and around Breed's Hill, during the Siege of Boston early in the American Revolutionary War. The battle is named after the adjacent Bunker Hill, which was peripherally involved in the battle and was the original objective of both colonial and British troops, and is occasionally referred to as the Battle of Breed's Hill.
On June 13, 1775, the leaders of the colonial forces besieging Boston learned that the British generals were planning to send troops out from the city to occupy the unoccupied hills surrounding the city. In response to this intelligence, 1,200 colonial troops under the command of William Prescott stealthily occupied Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill, constructed an earthen redoubt on Breed's Hill, and built lightly fortified lines across most of the Charlestown Peninsula.

SUMMARY
=======
The Scottish Reformation was the process by which Scotland broke with the Papacy and developed a predominantly Calvinist national Kirk (church), which was strongly Presbyterian in outlook. It was part of the wider European Protestant Reformation that took place from the sixteenth century.
From the late fifteenth century the ideas of Renaissance humanism, critical of aspects of the established Catholic Church, began to reach Scotland, particularly through the contacts between Scottish and continental scholars. In the earlier part of the sixteenth century, the teachings of Martin Luther began to influence Scotland. Particularly important was the work of the Lutheran Scot Patrick Hamilton, who was executed in 1528. Unlike his uncle Henry VIII in England, James V avoided major structural and theological changes to the church and used it as a source of income and for appointments for his illegitimate children and favourites. His death in 1542 left the infant Mary, Queen of Scots as his heir, allowing a series of English invasions later known as the Rough Wooing. The English supplied books and distributed Bibles and Protestant literature in the Lowlands when they invaded in 1547. The execution of the Zwingli-influenced George Wishart in 1546, who was burnt at the stake on the orders of Cardinal David Beaton, stimulated the growth of these ideas in reaction. Wishart's supporters, who included a number of Fife lairds, assassinated Beaton soon after and seized St. Andrews Castle, which they held for a year before they were defeated with the help of French forces. The survivors, including chaplain John Knox, were condemned to serve as galley slaves. Their martyrdom stirred resentment of the French and inspired additional martyrs for the Protestant cause. In 1549, the defeat of the English with French support led to the marriage of Mary to the French dauphin and a regency over Scotland for the queen's mother, Mary of Guise.
Limited toleration and the influence of exiled Scots and Protestants in other countries, led to the expansion of Protestantism, with a group of lairds declaring themselves Lords of the Congregation in 1557 and representing Protestant interests politically. The collapse of the French alliance and the death of the regent, followed by English intervention in 1560, meant that a relatively small but highly influential group of Protestants had the power to impose reform on the Scottish church. The Scottish Reformation Parliament of 1560 approved a Protestant confession of faith, rejecting papal jurisdiction and the mass. Knox, having escaped the galleys and having spent time in Geneva, where he became a follower of Calvin, emerged as the most significant figure. The Calvinism of the reformers led by Knox resulted in a settlement that adopted a Presbyterian system and rejected most of the elaborate trappings of the Medieval church. When her husband Francis II died in 1560, the Catholic Mary returned to Scotland to take up the government. Her six-year personal reign was marred by a series of crises, largely caused by the intrigues and rivalries of the leading nobles. Opposition to her third husband Bothwell led to the formation of a coalition of nobles, who captured Mary and forced her abdicate in favour of her son, who came to the throne as James VI in 1567. James was brought up a Protestant, but resisted Presbyterianism and the independence of the Kirk.
The Reformation resulted in major changes in Scottish society. These included a desire to plant a school in every parish and major reforms of the university system. The Kirk discouraged many forms of plays, as well as poetry that was not devotional in nature; however, significant playwrights and poets did nevertheless emerge, such as George Buchanan and the Castalian Band of James VI's reign. Scotland's ecclesiastical art paid a heavy toll as a result of Reformation iconoclasm. Native craftsmen and artists turned to secular patrons, resulting in ...
