Want to buy a lighthouse? 120 are available for purchase in U.S. - Daily Mail
About 120 lighthouses no longer critical to the U.S. Coast Guard in 22 states and Puerto Rico have been acquired at no cost by government entities and nonprofits, or sold to private individuals eager to preserve the landmarks and maybe tap into their tourism potential since they became available under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000. Upkeep was too expensive and their usefulness was in decline with the advent of GPS. Years of neglect, vandalism, limited access and hammering by the elements often make for labor-intensive money pits that are for neither the weak of heart nor stomach. Pictured are the North Point Lighthouse in Milwaukee (main), the Port Austin Reef Lighthouse near Port Austin, Michigan, (top right) and the light head tower in Port Washington, Wisconsin (bottom right).

Leards Range Front Lighthouse, Victoria, Prince Edward Island
Located in the village of Victoria (Victoria by the Sea), Prince Edward Island, this tower was established in 1879. The white, square, pyramidal wood frame tower stands 35 feet high and has a metal lantern room at the top.
Until recently the lantern room housed two fixed lights and acted as both the Leards Range Front Lighthouse also the Palmer Range Rear Light. However the tower now houses a single rotating white beacon.

St. Peters Island Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
This is the most difficult of all lights on PEI to view as it is located on a small Island off the south shore in the Northumberland Strait. It is possible to walk out to St. Peters Island at low tide. A trip out to the light and back will take about two and a half hours on foot.
The St. Peters Island light was built in 1880 and was completed in time to be put in operation at the opening of navigation in 1881. The tower, a square wooden building with a height of thirty-eight feet was originally placed on the most westerly point of the island from where it showed a fixed-red light at an elevation of forty-eight feet above high water. During the winter of 1883-1884, the lighthouse was relocated from the western side of the lighthouse to the southern side of the island, about a mile southeast from its former site. At the opening of navigation in 1898, the fixed-red light was replaced by an occulting white light that showed for six seconds out of every thirty seconds.
The tower was manned until 1947 when it was electrified. The light is currently (as of July 2012) in use and is now solar powered.

The metal tower stands about fifty feet tall and served as the back or rear range light, a metal open tower served (now toppled over) served as the front range light.
This range light is no longer in service and the lighting apparatus has been removed.
