Cultivate Michigan Tour - Apples with Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill in Armada, MI - 2014
Watch a video of Cultivate Michigan's apple tour at Blake's Orchard and Cider Mill!
Food Service directors at an October tour of Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill in northern Macomb County highlighted the many benefits apples possess and the value they place on cooking and baking. Without apples, we could not produce wonderful dishes such as fresh and hard cider, sauces, pies, baked goods, jellies, jams, apple butter, cider vinegar and fresh and dried fruit. This tour was hosted by the Michigan Farm to Institution Network, and its institutional purchasing campaign Cultivate Michigan. It was co-coordinated by Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems, Ecology Center and supported by Michigan State University Extension.

Places to see in ( Dartford - UK )
Dartford is the principal town in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It is located 18 miles south-east of Central London, and is situated adjacent to the London Borough of Bexley to its west. To its north, across the Thames estuary, is Thurrock in Essex, which can be reached via the Dartford Crossing and the Dartford Tunnel.
Dartford centre lies in a valley through which the River Darent flows, and where the old road from London to Dover crossed: hence the name, from Darent + ford. Dartford became a market town in medieval times and, although today it is principally a commuter town for Greater London, it has a long history of religious, industrial and cultural importance. It is an important rail hub; the main through-road now by-passes the town itself.
Dartford is twinned with several other towns and cities abroad including Hanau in Germany, Gravelines in France and Namyangju in South Korea.
Dartford has two major buildings concerned with performance art. The Orchard Theatre, located in the town centre, is a fully professional theatre, providing audiences with a large range of drama, dance, music and entertainment. The Mick Jagger Centre, within the grounds of Dartford Grammar School on Shepherds Lane, was completed in 2000 and provides facilities for community arts across a wide region.
Dartford railway station is located in the town centre and is connected to London via three National Rail routes. The first railway London to Dartford connection was the North Kent Line via Woolwich Arsenal in 1849, connecting at Gravesend with the line to the Medway Towns. Later two more lines were built, the Dartford Loop Line through Sidcup, which opened in 1866, and the Bexleyheath Line, which opened in 1895. All the lines were electrified on 6 June 1926.
( Dartford - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Dartford . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Dartford - UK

Every house built for sale on the land St Mirren FC called home has been handed over to local families.
Sanctuary Homes was inundated with people keen to buy 29 affordable houses in Paisley’s Love Street, Saints Street, North Bank, Cairter’s Corner and Abercromby Avenue.
The semi-detached and terraced homes were built by Sanctuary in partnership with the Scottish Government and Renfrewshire Council.
Lyndsey Wilson, Area sales manager for Scotland, said: “Our Love Street development is so popular it became a bit of an open goal for our sales team.
“The high quality of the houses combined with the history of the site saw plots reserved as soon as they became available.
“Witnessing the transformation of Love Street from a lifeless site into a new community is fantastic.
“The number of families moving here is fitting given how family-orientated St Mirren FC is.”
All 29 homes were sold through the Scottish Government’s New Supply Shared Equity scheme. The scheme enables first-time buyers to own a property by taking a stake of between 60 and 80 per cent. The remaining share is held by the Scottish Government and repaid when the property is sold.

Care Farming West Midlands Video - What is Care Farming?
Care Farming is the use of therapeutic farming practices to deliver a positive rural experience.. It provides an innovative natural option for health and social care.
A Care Farming facility:
Utilises the whole, or part of a farm, be they commercial agricultural businesses, smallholdings or community farms.
Provides health, social or educational care services for one or a range of vulnerable groups of people (including people with mental health problems, people suffering from mild to moderate depression, adults and children with learning disabilities, children with autism, those with a drug or alcohol addiction history, disaffected young people, adults and young people on probation).
Provides a supervised, structured programme of farming-related activities delivered by the Care Farmer in a supportive, caring environment(including animal husbandry, crop production, horticulture , orchard and woodland management, estate maintenance etc). In addition, Care Farms often provide extra activities such as healthy eating, food preparation, quiet enjoyment of nature, fishing and natural arts and crafts.
Provides services on a regular basis for participants (where clients/participants attend the farm regularly as part of a structured care, rehabilitation, therapeutic or educational programme).
Is increasingly commissioned by referral agencies such as social services, health care trusts, community mental health teams, education authorities, probation services, etc; clients can also be self-referred as part of the direct payments scheme, or be referred by family members.
Apple Variety Margil
This is a REALLY rare apple, but was widely grown in England in the 1700s. Its origin is unknown. Said to be ripe October to January. Greenish yellow fluched with orange red and irregular russetting. I think this apple is beautiful to behold. We only have one tree, grown mainly for exhibition and 'mother stock' purposes.
Excellent spicy aromatic flavour, a small fruit and reliable but not heavy cropper. Asymetrical appearance, it makes a SMALL tree which in these days of tiny gardens is an advantage. This is probably not a serious contender for a commercial planting but an good choice for the backyard or community orchard where flavour and character count for more than kilograms and uniformity.
A good choice if you have 4 or 5 'steady reliable' apples of common varieties and want something a bit exotic to complete your collection. You may have difficulty obtaining one from a specialist nursery as it is now so rare, but 250 years ago, in the days before pesticides and refigeration, it was very widely cultivated. That for me makes it a 'must save' apple.
early flowering, so susceptible to late frosts.

A family passionate about authentic cider
Henry Weston came to Herefordshire in 1878 and started making cider for the community from apples harvested from his own and local orchards. The cider was so good, it turned his passion into a family owned business. The family is determined to continue this tradition of cider making, matured in aged oak vats, for centuries to come.

New Climbing Playground Equipment in Meridian Idaho
- LuckyDog Recreation construction of Dynamo Astro Rotating Climber at Bellano Creek in Meridian, Idaho.
See how fun the Dynamo Rotating Climber is!
LuckyDog Recreation unleashd New-Fangled playground equipment in Idaho at Coleman Homes Community, Bellano Creek om Meridian Idaho.
Climbing playground equipment is the new buzz word in the world of children's play and LuckyDog Recreation, a locally based playground construction company, is blowing the market open in Idaho for this new-fangled style of equipment.
The next wave of exciting playground equipment is climbing playground equipment, said Nicole Stoddard, of LuckyDog Recreation. The reason they are 'so hot' is that they engage children 'of all ages' ...including grown-ups... in dynamic community play. Unlike traditional playgrounds that tend to 'segregate' able-bodied activities from activities intended for people with limited abilities, rope based playgrounds are designed to be universally inclusive. So everyone can have the same fun at the same time on the same toy, continues Stoddard.
LuckyDog Recreation unveiled the second rope based playground game, the Astro Rotating Climber, in the Treasure Valley tomorrow, Weds. April 30th at 1:00 PM at Bellano Creek, a Coleman Homes' property and third community in Meridian, ID, located North of the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Ustick Road.
Landscape architects and park and playground planners met with climbing playground equipment experts from LuckyDog Recreation and special guest, Rob Lockhart, engineer and climbing playground equipment expert from Dynamo Industries, the company that is pioneering the resurgence of this unique form of play equipment world-wide.
Rob has worked with Dynamo for more than a decade to take their innovative products to new heights, including the new Quad Pods double rotating climber, and the new World's Tallest Pyramid Net standing 50 feet tall.
About Coleman Homes, Bellano Creek
For over 40 years, Coleman Homes has established a reputation for building premier communities and quality homes throughout California, Nevada and Idaho. Urgency for Park Planners
The sense of urgency for park planners & providers of play equipment to provide equipment that challenges, engages, and gets families involved in outdoor physical activity is ever increasing. Dynamo Playgrounds is leading the world-wide charge by changing the way children perceive their play environment. Thanks to LuckyDog Recreation and forward thinking home builders like Coleman homes, the new landscape of play has arrived in Idaho.
This playground construction project was two fold, the Dynamo climbing playground equipment called the Astro sits next to the Revolution playground system by Playcraft.
LuckyDog Recreation represents Playcraft Playgrounds and Dynamo Playgrounds with Idaho commercial playground equipment sales and installation.
