Ancient Egyptian Gallery at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester
The new Ancient Egyptian galleries at New Walk Museum, opened October 2018 displaying over 400 objects from Leicester's permanent collection.
The museum hosts the most significant collection of Ancient Egyptian artefacts in the East Midlands. The collection includes finds from archaeological excavations carried out in the very early 20th century, as well as mummies sent to Leicester from Egypt by John Mason Cook – the son of the travel pioneer Thomas Cook.

New Walk's Dinosaur Museum in Leicester UK
The only reason I wanted to visit this museum is that it has dinosaurs in it. These dinosaurs are pretty cool to come and look at, my favorite is the Neovenator skeleton. There is more stuff in it (dinosaur-related) that I did not record, I only shot at things that are more interesting to me.

Mods - Shaping a Generation exhibition at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester
Mods: Shaping a Generation tells the story of the 1960’s Mod scene in Leicester and Nottingham and how they were connected, concentrating on the themes of social, financial and creative freedom via exclusive first-hand eye witness accounts and unpublished images.
The exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the release of The Who’s cult Mod film, Quadrophenia, and will include Roger K Burton’s original 1960’s clothing as seen in the film, along with original scooters and other ephemera. The exhibition also re-visits legendary hang-outs visited by the Leicester and Nottingham Mods including The Nite Owl, The Il Rondo and the Dungeon.

Sublime Symmetry exhibition at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester
Exhibition curator Sarah Hardy introduces Sublime Symmetry, an exhibition showcasing the work of William De Morgan, the celebrated Victorian Arts and Crafts designer.
The exhibition presents over 80 magnificent works, including ceramics from the De Morgan Collection and his designs on paper on loan from the V&A. The pieces have all been chosen to demonstrate the mathematical concepts which are the basis for his beautiful and colourful ceramic designs. Sublime Symmetry will span across three of our galleries, with additional pieces from the Leicester Museums’ collection.
Sublime Symmetry: The Mathematics behind De Morgan’s Ceramic Designs exhibition is on now until 5 March 2017 at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester.

German Expressionism art @ Leicester New Walk Museum TRAILER
WINNER OF THE EAST MIDLANDS HERITAGE AWARD
Atlas AV working with the New Walk Museum has created a dynamic and beautifully crafted German expressionist art display, using state of the art technology with the unique use of a multi projection system, which is enjoyed by thousands every year. The seamless flow of imagery and video integration brings history to life in an engaging way. Atlas AV has also installed an interactive touch screen allowing users to view the extraordinary art which isn’t displayed in the museum.
The feedback received by the Museum has been enormously encouraging and we look forward to working with the team again in the near future.

Hugo Worthy, Exhibitions Officer for Contemporary Art, and James Hickford, Marketing Manager, talk us through the ARTIST ROOMS Georg Baselitz exhibition at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery in Leicester. The work of the German painter is showing as part of the gallery’s third ARTIST ROOMS exhibition, having previously shown the work of two other German artists, Gerhard Richter and August Sander. Describing how the show connects with their own collection of German Expressionism, we see how the gallery have connected their audience to the work in innovative ways.
