Katy Perry - Firework - (Live at the Ed Sullivan Theater, New York City, on the 24/08/2010)
Katy Perry performs - Firework - Live at The Ed Sullivan Theater, New York City, on the 24/08/2010.
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Perry grew up with gospel music, and during her first year of high school she pursued a music career as Katy Hudson, releasing her first studio album called Katy Hudson which failed to chart. She recorded a solo album later, which was never released. After signing with Capitol Music Group in 2007, her fourth record label in seven years, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry.
Perry is the only artist to spend over 52 consecutive weeks in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, and has since extended this to 69 weeks. As of 2012, Perry has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year (Teenage Dream) and Record of the Year (Firework). She was named 2011's Artist of the Year by MTV. She has sold 37.6 million digital tracks in the United States and 11 million albums worldwide, and sold over 74.6 million digital tracks worldwide. Perry was a guest judge on the seventh series of The X Factor UK and the ninth season of American Idol. She has released fragrances Purr and Meow. She ventured into film, voicing Smurfette in the 2011 film The Smurfs and upcoming 3D biopic-concert film Katy Perry: Part of Me. Perry was married to British comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
Perry appeared as a guest judge alongside Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh during the Dublin audition stage of the seventh series of the British television show The X Factor on June 28, 2010. She was one of the many celebrities chosen to fulfil the role of judge whilst Dannii Minogue was on maternity leave.
In May 2010, Perry released the first single from her second studio album, Teenage Dream entitled, California Gurls. The single peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks. Teenage Dream was released as the second single from her album, and it also topped the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her third number one and second from the album. Teenage Dream was released August 24, 2010 and debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with sales of 192,000 copies in its first week. The album has since sold over two million copies in the US, being certified Platinum by the RIAA. Following the album's release, the third single Firework was released and became the third consecutive single from Teenage Dream to top the Hot 100. With this, Perry became the first female in eleven years to have three consecutive number-ones from one album.
In February 2011, Perry released the fourth single, E.T., a remixed version featuring Kanye West, that peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for five non-consecutive weeks. The music video for E.T. was directed by Floria Sigismondi and features Shaun Ross as the main love interest. With E.T. at number one on the chart of May 12, 2011, Perry became the first artist to spend 52 consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. In June 2011, Perry released the fifth single, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.). A remixed version featuring American rapper Missy Elliot was released in early August. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 on August 17, 2011, making Perry the first female and second artist (tied with Michael Jackson) ever to have five No. 1 singles from one album. Also, when the song reached number 1 in the Pop Songs airplay chart, Teenage Dream became the first album to have 5 number 1's from the same album on that chart. Additionally, when the song reached number one in the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart, the album become the first to have 4 number 1's from the same album on the chart.
In April 2012, Perry performed in India for the first time at the opening ceremony of 5th edition of Indian Premier League, cricket match, in Chennai. She performed her songs Teenage Dream and a remix version of California Gurls. In April 2012, Perry stated that she is working on new music and changing her musical style, My music is about to get real f—ing dark. You'd never see my face because my hair would be in it. On June 5, 2012, Perry released her first PC game named The Sims 3: Katy Perry's Sweet Treats in The Sims game franchise (see more here). The game is set around her candy-themed franchise with candy-themed objects, styles, clothes, hair, patterns, and more. The second and final single from the re-release (and eighth and final single from the Teenage Dream era overall) was Wide Awake, which released in May, reached No. 4 the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it her eighth consecutive single to reach the top five of the chart since California Gurls. In June 2012, Perry revealed that she is in the process of launching her own record label, which will be an imprint of Capitol Records.
USA: NEW YORK: CONSTRUCTION WORKERS STAGE PROTEST
English/Nat
Tens of thousands construction workers strangled the morning rush-hour in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday.
The marchers were protesting about the awarding of a non-union contract for a transit project in New York.
Watched by mounted police in riot gear, they spilled onto Fifth Avenue, blowing whistles, waving flags and chanting.
Pedestrian and motor traffic came to a standstill as huge demonstration marched near Grand Central Station toward a construction site at 54th Street and Ninth Avenue.
But police blocked them from going further, prompting some bottle throwing.
Many protesters carried banners identifying themselves as masons, carpenters, roofers and other construction traders.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's a taxpayer issue. They don't train their people. They'll take somebody off the street and they will make him a labourer. The next day they will make him an electrician, the next day they will make him a tin knocker. We go to school for five years to learn our trade. You get your dollars for it. They are paying the same rate that they have to pay for us. They might as well get somebody who has been trained to the do the job. We want a fair bank for our dollars. These people don't have any training, don't have any responsibility.
SUPER CAPTION: Tom Tighe, Union Worker, Local 9-Plumbers and Pipe fitters
City authorities said the crowd numbered about 40-thousand at its peak.
Some shops and offices were forced to open late because their employees couldn't get to work through the crowd.
The demonstrators accused the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of awarding work to a contractor who used non-union help.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's all City money being used. Taxpayers money - my money. And I have got to feed my family and everything.
SUPER CAPTION: Bob Carroll, Union Worker, Local 46 - Ironworker
Scores of police vans and horses were at the scene and police helicopters hung overhead.
As the march grew more rowdy, more than 100 police in riot gear began cutting through the noisy, chanting mob on Ninth Avenue.
Some of them said police used pepper spray and mace before handcuffing them and putting them in a police van.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
The horses stormed in to move everybody out of the street and, I don't know - they just started spraying and swinging night sticks and getting everybody out of the street. One cop was pushing me. I told him to get off me - don't touch me - and he took out his mace and sprayed me in the eyes.
SUPER CAPTION: Steven Archipinti, Union Worker, Local 2287
Many businesses and offices near the demonstration opened late because of the crowds and police blocked workers from entering their buildings.
More than 20 minor injuries were reported.
A half-dozen protesters were arrested.

Westin Hotel, time square, Midtown New York City (view from 35th floor)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Times Square
Times Square is a major commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. Times Square -- iconified as The Crossroads of the World[1][2][3][4][5] and the The Great White Way[6][7][8] -- is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theater district,[9] one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections,[10] and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.[11] According to Travel + Leisure magazine's October 2011 survey, Times Square is the world's most visited tourist attraction, bringing in over 39 million visitors annually.[12]
Formerly Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building -- now called One Times Square -- site of the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve.[13]
The northern triangle of Times Square is technically Duffy Square, dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's Fighting 69th Infantry Regiment; a memorial to Duffy is located there, along with a statue of George M. Cohan, and the TKTS discount theatre tickets booth. The stepped red roof of the TKTS booth also provides seating for various events. The Duffy Statue and the square were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.[14]
Early history
Before and after the American Revolution, the area belonged to John Morin Scott, a general of the New York militia, in which he served under George Washington. Scott's manor house was at what is currently 43rd Street, surrounded by countryside used for farming and breeding horses. In the first half of the 19th century it became one of the prized possessions of John Jacob Astor, who made a second fortune selling off lots to hotels and other real estate concerns as the city rapidly spread uptown.[15] By 1872 the area had become the center of New York's carriage industry. The area not having previously been named, the city authorities called it Longacre Square after Long Acre in London, where the carriage trade in that city was centered.[16]
The Hudson River is a 315-mile (507 km) watercourse that flows from north to south through eastern New York State in the United States. The river begins at Henderson Lake in Newcomb, New York. The river flows southward past the state capital at Albany and then eventually forms the boundary between New York City and the U.S. state of New Jersey at its mouth before emptying into Upper New York Bay. Its lower half is a tidal estuary,[3] which occupies the Hudson Fjord. This formed during the most recent North American glaciation over the latter part of the Wisconsin Stage of the Last Glacial Maximum, 26,000 to 13,300 years ago.[4] Tidal waters influence the Hudson's flow as far north as Troy, New York.
In 1930, hotel owners Severt W. Thurston and Frank Dupar, both of Seattle, Washington USA, formed a partnership in order to manage their hotels more efficiently. Together with Peter and Adolph Schmidt they formed Western Hotels, with seventeen properties, all but one in the state of Washington.[1]
Early management developed each property individually. After more than two decades of rapid growth, prompting a name change in 1954 to Western International Hotels, many of its properties were merged into a single corporate structure in 1958, and the company went public in 1963. For its 50th anniversary in 1980, it changed its name again to the current Westin Hotels & Resorts.
Westin markets certain amenities available in its properties to the public under the brand name Heavenly. In 2005, Westin became the first hotel company to gain a national retail store presence when Nordstrom started carrying the Heavenly Bed line in more than 60 stores.
Westin refreshed its partnership with United Airlines in 2008. United offers pillows and blankets from their Heavenly Bed line on select United premium service routes between New York City and California, as well as Westin decorations and scents in some Red Carpet Club lounges.[3]
Especially in the last decade, Westin has focused on expanding globally. Since 2005, the number of hotels has grown from 120 locations in 24 countries to over 160 locations in 37 countries as of 2011.

Brazil Day New York Part 1 filmed on Sunday September 4, 2016
This video shows the start of Brazil Day and also the main singer singing on stage about 30 feet away.
This grand event, Brazilian Day in New York, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The Lavagem da Rua 46 is on Saturday August 30th, and Brazilian Day in New York is on Sunday, August 31th. This celebration of the Brazilian Culture takes place in the heart of Little Brazil, West 46th. Street. Every year Brazilian Day in New York takes over 25 blocks, all surrounding Little Brazil.
The festival started with the purpose of celebrating Brazilís Independence Day here in New York. That small celebration started in 1984 by Joao DeMatos, the founder of Brazilian Day in New York. The first few festivals attracted a couple hundred people. But boy has it grown since then! It now attracts over 1.5 million. This is according to official information from NYPD for Brazilian Day 2013.
People come from as close as Long Island and New Jersey to as far as Japan and Africa! Brazilian Day in New York also attracts a diverse group. People come from all over the world and the United States! They all share the same special bond of loving and celebrating the beautiful Brazilian Culture. To get to the festival some travel in groups or ìcaravansî, some commute by bus, some fly in, and others will drive hundreds of miles to be there. No one wants to be left out of this party, which is now considered the worldís biggest Brazilian event outside Brazil and one of the greatest ethnic events in the Big Apple.
The organizers of Brazilian Day in New York are Joao DeMatos, the founder and producer of Brazilian Day in New York, The Brasilians Newspaper, and TV Globo International. This year the team is expecting a record number of participants for the 30th celebration. There are no precise estimates of how many Brazilians are currently living in the United States. However, the Brazil Information Center (BIC), a non-profit poll organization based out of Washington, D.C., estimates that there are over 1 million Brazilians throughout the entire country. Of those, 300 thousand live in the three-state area of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.
The NGO also estimates that 100 thousand Brazilians live in the borough of Queens, New York. Ironically, Queens, New York happens to be the most diverse area IN THE WORLD!
The Brazilian Day in New York festival is not your typical celebration! It has become an opportunity to reach out to the Brazilian community in the United States. On that one very special day, Brazilians from far and wide get together from different parts of the world, many coming from Brazil just to attend the festival. They show their pride and love for their culture. A culture that is so rich in life, music, good food, good friends and good times! They have a chance, for one day, to truly celebrate Brazil while being so far away from home. One day to color New York City Green and Yellow with Brazilian Pride!! We hope to see you there!!
Israeli government shame on you!! United Nations General Assembly, New York City, September 27th,'18
Thousands of members of New York’s Orthodox Jewish community, organized by the Rabbinical Alliance of the USA, protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who addressed the UN General Assembly on September 27th '18. The demonstration held in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in Manhattan, 47th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues, Thursday September 27 at 5:00 PM.
Protesters intend to focus on the fact that since the passing of a 2014 law, the Israeli government has been forcing Orthodox Jewish young men to serve in its army. Recently, they have been enforcing the laws more strictly, and cracking down violently on anyone who speaks out. Those who refuse to comply with the draft, due to their religious convictions, as well as those who protest against the law,are treated brutally. Hundreds of boys and even girls have been thrown into prison.
“We are going to send a message to the United Nations that Benjamin Netanyahu does not represent the Jewish people or the Jewish religion,” said Rabbi Aron Jacobowitz, a spokesman for the group. “According to the Jewish religion Jews are forbidden to create a sovereign state or wage wars against other nations, therefore the State of Israel is in total violation of Judaism. Authentic Jewry never recognized the State of Israel and therefore refuse to serve in the Israeli army”
“Anti-Zionist Jews, as conscientious objectors, deserve the right to be exempt from service in the Israeli army, as set down in UN Commission on Human Rights resolution 1998/77.
“The recent forced military draft of religious Jews against their religious convictions is a violation of the freedom of religion of these communities, and the cruel oppression of protesters is a violation of the universal freedom of speech. This is another stage in their on going efforts to force the remaining authentic Jews to take part in their criminal movement. Their intent is to uproot religious Judaism.
“All that our communities in the Holy Land want is to live in peace with their non-Jewish neighbors and practice and preserve the Jewish religion, as we did prior to the establishment of this political State of Israel. We do not desire power or domination.
“The Zionist movement came to execute a transformation of Judaism from a religion to nationalism, therefore the Zionist state’s claim to be a “Jewish” state is the worst kind of identity theft. The State of Israel is not Jewish at all, and its ongoing actions do not represent world Jewry. The ongoing crimes committed by the state against the Orthodox community prove once again that they don’t represent the religious Jews living in the Holy Land, let alone those around the world.”

Here's to the State of Giuliani
Jim Baron is a talented guitar player and songwriter. Nine years ago he joined me on the Songs of Freedom show with new words for the classic Phil Ochs song, Here's to the State of Mississippi. Rudolf Giuliani was the mayor of New York at the time who harbored greater political aspirations.
Listen to the song now and it tells you where Rudy has been and what to expect if he becomes President.
I have noticed for years that people who live outside of New York City have more respect for Giuliani than those who actually lived here. If you wonder what to think about this fellow, check this piece out. Rudy will always be a brutal prosecutor, who will always need people to prosecute. Is putting him on a world stage with the United States armed services to command what we want to do?

Rabbinical Alliance of the United States and Canada is an umbrella organization uniting dozens of congregations with the goal of strengthening Judaism in Jewish communities around the world.
USA: NEW YORK: ALBANIAN KOSOVARS STAGE DEMONSTRATION
English/Nat
As fighting in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo continued to escalate, several hundred ethnic Albanian Kosovars staged a demonstration in New York to demand action from the United Nations.
On Monday, Serb forces launched a new rocket offensive against militant ethnic Albanians who are seeking independence for Kosovo.
The U-S Defence Secretary, William Cohen, has meanwhile spoken of the difficulties facing NATO if it took military intervention in the province.
As they gathered in front of United Nation's headquarters, several hundred ethnic Albanians demanded international intervention in the Kosovo crisis.
The demonstration organised by the Motherland Calls group, started at the U-N and then marched up to the Yugoslavian and Russian missions.
Chanting 'free Kosovo', the marchers chanted their support for the militant K-L-A - the Kosovo Liberation Army.
And they demanded intervention by the United Nations.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
We send the message that, if the international community is not going to help, and help quickly, we have to fight and defend ourselves because we will no longer stand by and let this happen to our families.
SUPER CAPTION: Arta Haxhaj, Kosovo Albanian
SOUNDBITE: (English)
What we are trying to tell the UN is to have some action immediately, as we saw what non-action did in Bosnia. Four years of war and two-hundred-thousand plus dead and each and every day they are uncovering mass graves from the Bosnian war. We really would like a peaceful solution to this problem.
SUPER CAPTION: Heron Gashi, Kosovo Albanian
The protesters were kept one block back from the Yugoslav mission to the U-N by police blockades.
They also marched to the Russian mission, protesting Russia's support for Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic.
In Los Angeles, U-S Secretary of State William Cohen told the World Affairs Council that the situation in Kosovo was a difficult matter to resolve.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Right now the problem that we have is if NATO were to take military action against Milosevic and say we are going to strike targets that are potentially going to unleash massive casualties upon the Albanian people in Kosovo, we then run the risk of endorsing the UCK, or the Kosovo Liberation Army's goals of total independence. So it is a very difficult job that Mr Holbrooke, who is now in Kosovo, is trying to negotiate to get both parties, all three parties I should say, to the table.
SUPER CAPTION: William Cohen, U-S Secretary of Defence
Yugoslavia is trying to hold on to the province of Kosovo and has used tough tactics to try to suppress the ethnic Albanians.
Scores have been killed by Serb troops and an estimated 70-thousand made homeless.
The Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has rejected U-S demands for an unconditional ceasefire and a pullback of the troops.

REPORT: REX TILLERSON TO RESIGN AS SECRETARY OF STATE – TRUMP WANTS POMPEO TO STEP IN
The New York Times is reporting that President Trump is forcing out Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, in a move that could come as early as January.
Reports say Tillerson will resign just after his one-year anniversary in the position. The President wants to replace him with CIA Chief Mike Pompeo.
The New York Daily News has more.
The White House has plans to give Secretary of State Rex Tillerson the boot and replace him with current CIA head Mike Pompeo, according to reports on Thursday.
Pompeo would be replaced at the Central Intelligence Agency by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) in a Trump administration shake up that could come as early as January, The New York Times reported.
Tillerson, a former ExxonMobil executive, has butted heads with President Trump on several key issues regarding diplomacy and has publicly split from the official White House line on situations in North Korea and Iran.Several reports noted that Tillerson called Trump a “moron” in private, which he has denied.
After engaging in a war of words with Trump last month, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told The Washington Post that the President had “publicly castrate(d)” Tillerson on the world stage with his frequent outbursts and threats.

Brazil Day New York Part 2 filmed on Sunday September 4, 2016
This video shows Brazil Day and also the main singer singing on stage about 30 feet away.

Seattle Is Ground Zero For the USA Coronavirus Outbreak: The Money Behind Future Infant Vaccinations
They don't call it 'The Seattle Space Needle' for nothing. As I was posting this video Breaking News came in that my home city of Toronto, Canada just confirmed that we have our first case of Coronaviris from a male that was on a flight in from Wuhan, China. I discuss Toronto, the Coronavirus and SARS in this video as I knew they were coming back for us..
On October 18th, 2018 15 members of the New World Order sat at a New York City Hotel for 3.5 hours and discussed the pending Coronavirus pandemic. I believe that this latest worldwide virus scare has been manufactured in a bio-lab and will slowly be released upon mankind in the coming month's. I first heard about this Coronavirus the first thing that I looked for was a vaccine that would be ready to hand out for anyone who get's the virus. What I found was that there is a patent for the virus (meaning it is man made and could be used as a bio-weapon) and I found that vaccine cure's were being investigated and researcged by pharmaceutical companies. I also discovered two glaring links that connects the Gates Foundation to a pharmaceutical company (American based Novavax) that is in it's third stage of trial research for a vaccination for an infant version of the Coronavirus and I also link the Gates Foundation to a recent meeting in New York City (October 18th, 2019) where a Global viral pandemic was discussed using the Coronavirus as the driving force behind the pandemic. This meeting was less then two month's before they announced the first victim of the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China. You really can't make this stuff up.
