Hi everyone! Have you been to Warkworth, New Zealand? It's a quiet little town in Northland and in this video, we would give you a little tour of this place! My husband and I love going on walks and hikes and this time, we went to the Dome Valley Summit Track. You'll also see some interesting places you could visit in Warkworth!

Tawharanui Regional Park | Anchor Bay | Day Trip | Auckland | Travel Vlog | New Zealand
How to get to Tāwharanui Regional Park:
Tāwharanui is a 90km or 80 minute drive from central Auckland.
Take SH1 north to Warkworth. Follow the signs to Matakana. When you are 1km past Matakana, turn right at the Ōmaha turnoff and drive 11km along Takatū Road to the park.
What to do in Tāwharanui Regional Park:
Stop at the interpretation area just inside the sanctuary gate for park and open sanctuary information, and visit the carved pou (post) by the western edge of the lagoon.
Take one of the seven signposted walks on the park. They begin at Anchor Bay and the Lagoon, and range from easy strolls to the two hour North/South Coast Track. A favourite for many people is the
Ecology Trail (2 hours) signposted from Anchor Bay.
Swim, surf or snorkel at Anchor Bay, or dive in the Marine Protected area on the north coast. Fishing is not allowed here but is allowed on the south coast and at Jones Bay near the park entrance.
Stay a while and experience the park's historical and natural values. Book a camp site in the camp ground, or book a stay in the cottage that is available for rental (phone 09 366 2000).
Please do not remove or disturb any archaeological remains or shipwrecks. They provide an important record of our history and are protected by law.

Goat Island or Te Hawere-a-Maki is a tiny island (approximately 1 hectare or 2.5 acres) in New Zealand located close to the North Island coast, north of Auckland, northeast of Warkworth, and directly west of Little Barrier Island. It is within Cape Rodney-Okakari Point Marine Reserve, New Zealand's first marine reserve.
The island is spiritually significant to the local Maori tribe, Ngati Manuhiri, because their ancestral waka (canoe), Moe Karaka, is said to have landed nearby.

Warkworth Cement Works Left to Decay:
The Mahurangi Cement Works near Warkworth is now in ruins.
It was once the site of New Zealand’s first Portland cement manufacturing in the 1880s.
The founder Nathaniel Wilson (1836–1919), emigrated from Glasgow with his family when
he was only six years old.
Wilson first trained as a shoemaker, but in 1864 when he purchased a small Block
of land next to his parents land south of Warkworth and decided to attempt to make lime
himself, building his own lime kiln in 1866.
The Cement Works Was Born
