Walking into the Newbridge visitor centre is striking with all the gleaming silverware and complementary table accoutrements, but further on is the real gem in Newbridge town. Natalie Collins has created a restaurant that complements the excellence of Newbridge Silver, The Silver Restaurant. The offer is simple, fresh and local. We took a tour of the Newbridge Silverware factory to learn how they make their wares
Newbridge Silverware in Co Kildare is opening up its factory for a behind-the-scenes at how the jewellery and cutlery is created.
The tour will take visitors through the story of the factory's foundation in 1934 and tell the stories of the generations of craftsmen that have worked there.
We took a our own tour of the facility and spoke to maintenance manager Lorcan Harney about how his team create the items.

The Crafting of a Newbridge Silverware Fork
As part of its 80th anniversary, Newbridge Silverware has created a mini-series to showcase the craft, heritage and expertise that is synonymous with the brand.
This short movie was filmed at the Newbridge Silverware Craft Facility in Newbridge, Co. Kildare and shows the entire process of how a Newbridge Silverware EPNS fork is made from its initial beginnings as a blank to the finished item of cutlery. The pattern showcased in the video is Kings, which is perhaps the most famous pattern in the world.
