Cape Town Travel Guide is a new series we are started. That we are callings Whats in Newlands. our first suburb is Newlands. Newlands is a tranquil lush suburb on the eastern side of Table Mountain. Known as being the rainiest place in the Western Cape Newlands is the perfect home for the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. It also is the area that holds two of 3 of Cape Towns Stadiums, the cricket & rugby stadiums.... But there is a huge amount of accomodation in the area in the form of Guesthouses, AirBnBs & Hotels. Naturally there has got to be things to do for all these people... we had a look around to see what we could find.

We visited the South African Breweries in Newlands, Cape Town. They have a fantastic tour available for R80 that gives you scientific as well as historic insight in the brewing process at the cape. The tour takes you from the arrival of ingredients right through to the bottling and distribution and is followed by a tasting and two complimentary beers of your choice. A little bit of an update on the springs in Newlands, i was just on my way to work and I'm constantly amazed at the line at the Newlands Brewery water dispensing point. Also note that it looks cloudy and rainy but i only drizzled for a few minutes that day.

Cape Town's Iconic cricket stadium renamed PPC Newlands
PPC Ltd announced the company’s naming rights partnership with Newlands Cricket Ground at the stadium today. This momentous occasion sees PPC, leading supplier of cement in Southern Africa, join forces with iconic brand, Newlands, one of the world’s most prestigious venues and a stronghold of South African cricket, to rename the stadium “PPC Newlands”.
Darryll Castle, CEO of PPC Ltd, expressed the company’s excitement at becoming part of the Western Province Cricket family. “We’re exceptionally proud to be creating a new moment in history for these two champion brands and are looking forward to adding real value to the sport, the community and, ultimately, the country through this new legacy partnership with the Western Province Cricket Association.”
That is not only because of the commercial value of this partnership. It is also because the values that underpin the PPC-success are so similar to the philosophy that has been a key to the Western Province Cricket Association’s (WPCA) approach.

Newlands Cricket Ground will be known as PPC Newlands in a new naming rights deal with the Western Province Cricket Association.
This is not the first time a new sponsor has bought the right to an iconic stadium name in South Africa. Stadiums in Durban and Johannesburg have also changed their official names.

SAB: From hops to H2O
South African Breweries has thrown Cape Town residents a life line in and brought 9 million litres of water online.
The company will bottle and distribute water quarts sourced from the nearby Newlands Spring.
Bottles will be made available to Capetonians, particularly those who can’t make it to a water collection station.
