Big changes planned for 2019 at Newport on the Levee
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A new year brings big changes to a popular family destination.
One of the Tri-State's largest real estate developers purchased Newport on the Levee in December, and changes are already underway.
North American Properties closed on Newport on the Levee in December. Shortly after, Mitchell's Fish Market announced its plans to close after 17 years at the location. Property management says they are already prepping the site for future projects. Construction crews spent time Thursday getting it ready for a new pop-up restaurant, which will open in the next few weeks.
One of the things that we can do to stand out is adding just a little bit of that southern charm and that southern grace. Hopefully, we are going to be doing a really fun Derby party this spring and things like that, said Natalie Hastings, director of marketing for Newport on the Levee. Obviously we love to be down here in the urban core. We love Cincinnati, but I think that part of what we can bring here is just some of that special Kentucky charm.
Classes are also being planned for the first floor of the mall, which will focus on mind and body. These classes will be open to individuals as well as families. Guests who visit will notice several improvements, including a new ice rink -- the largest in Kentucky -- complete with a stage and live DJ.
