Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
The Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary sits in the middle of Ugand's Lake Victoria, the world's second largest freshwater lake. It welcomes day visitors and overnight guests who are not only interested in the chimpanzee experience and supporting the island's conservation efforts, but anyone just looking for a little relaxation.
The sanctuary was started in 1997 by Chimpanzee Trust to act as a safe haven for orphaned chimpanzees. It is currently home to 48 chimpanzees who spend their days roaming the 98-acre island sanctuary. In addition to providing sanctuary for Uganda's wildlife, the Chimpanzee Trust is dedicated to educating local communities about conservation and helping to improve their livelihoods through a number of other outreach programs. Insel der Affen - Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Uganda on Lake Victoria

Ngamba Island can be accessed from Entebbe and is almost 45 minutes journey. Orphan chimpanzees of Ngamba Island are taken care and are protected. However, no one deserves to be an orphan. Let's not harm our co-species.
We concluded our trip by paying a visit to the Entebbe Zoo. A complete day with different varieties of wildlife was fun and the session at Ngamba Island was much informative.

Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary Visit
Lake Victoria's Ngamba Island is home to 44 chimpanzees, and one of Uganda's most well-established chimp sanctuaries.
The island's chimps were orphaned or rescued from around the world, except for one which was born in the sanctuary.
The Great Primate Handshake visited the island to see the work researchers and care-givers are doing in the sanctuary.
The team viewed an afternoon feeding, where chimps came out of the forest home to eat an array of different fruit and vegetables.
Ngamba Island is at the forefront of chimpanzee conservation in Africa.
CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN UGANDA: NGAMBA ISLAND I UGANDA SAFARIS
Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is one of the fascinating activities you don't want to miss. I visited Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary to experience an exclusive chimpanzee (ANIMAL) experience. It's located on Lake Victoria and 23kms away from Entebbe. Ngamba Island is one of the tourism destinations in Uganda where you are assured of seeing more than 30 chimpanzees in a row. Observe their behaviors from feeding to interacting with one another.
Each of these individuals has a name I remember Sarah, Medina, Eazy, Rutoto, Kazukira but there are 49 chimpanzees found in that place. Join me on my quest to discover the beauty of Ngamba island.

Chimpanzees on Ngamba Island, Uganda I Summer's Travels
I paid a visit to Ngamba Island in Uganda, a home to over 40 orphaned chimpanzees. Some of these chimps on the island were rescued before they were sold as pets. Sadly, there are some humans who think it's okay to buy chimps as their pets and confine these chimps in small cages.

Forest walk at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
I finally made it back to my favorite #volunteering place, my favorite place in #Uganda period!
This visit was by far my most interesting and fun #journey there. I just can't stop going to #NgambaIsland. It's like an addiction I have. I'm connected to many of the chimpanzees. I know many of them by name and I know there personalities. :)
Again, I had the opportunity to participate in the caregiving of the #chimps, visited neighboring islands, enjoyed several astonishing sunsets, and snapped photos of so much #wildlife and landscapes for my memory bank.
I brought the chimps some water balloons to play with on my last visit. After a few experiments, some of them played with it like a ball and others figured out how to pierce a hole and drink the water. They would then politely return the empty balloon in exchange for another one. Seriously smart.
I finally had the opportunity to do the #forest walk with a #chimp on our trail, making this #trip unlike no other visit.

About the Chimps @ Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Uganda
This video was created by one of our supporters to showcase the lives of #NgambaIsland chimpanzees.

Chimpanzees playing in UWEC Zoo, Entebbe,Uganda.
Chimpanzees fear water naturally and rarely go in it to play unless when they want to have a drink. In UWEC Zoo there is a small pond that separates these non human persons from tourists. However they love climbing trees and chasing each other. A pack has its leader and enforces the rules. In Uganda, these animals can be found on ngamba island on lake Victoria. Most of these animals are orphaned chimpanzees.
