It has a few calm beaches on the bay side, and some legendary surf on the northern coastline. Most visitors just come for the day, to relax on the beaches, stroll the sandy lanes of the village and have lunch in one of the waterside eateries, but there are several appealing guesthouses here as well.

NGor Island surf camp in Senegal. A paradise on a tiny Island surrounded by a few world class waves. Close to the capital city of Dakar, the camp offers a nice and clean place for you to relax. Come and enjoy our endless summer type of life.
The camp offers a chillout area with pool, outside showers and sunbeds - a perfect place to chill after a long day surfing. Being located in one of the highest properties on the island, there are sea views from everywhere in the house, perhaps the most spectacular being the 360 degree view of all the waves surrounding Ngor from the roof terrace. From here you can also see the stunning sunset over the Atlantic ocean at the most western point of Africa.

You will find Ngor island just 800meters off the coast of Dakar. At only 800 meters long this island has become a trendy place and a surfer hideaway. Home to Senegal's most famous wave, the NGor right , featured in surf classic The Endless Summer.
The island is very peaceful and relaxed. Walking around the Island you can find small galleries offering art and music.
On the bay side you will find quiet white sandy beaches where you can swim, relax or eat lunch.
On the side facing the Atlantic Ocean, the coast is pounded by an almost constant swell. The rock foundation creates optimal conditions for surfing. A left and a right surf running during each tide, picking up even the smallest Atlantic swell in the summer.

Ngor Island is located only 6-700 meters from the Cap Vert peninsula in Dakar and as we stand on Ngor beach on the mainland we can look over to the Island and sew tiny people and houses. The traditional colorful pirogue boats, a kind of long and narrow canoe occupies large portions of the beach. For a smaller amount of money they takes you over to the idyll and peace of Ngor Island.
Ngor Island is a paradise for surfers and a popular retreat for Dakar`s middle class. Not difficult to understand as we walk into the narrow streets above the beach and enjoy the floral beauty and all the colorful doors and gates leading into sheltered gardens and courtyards.
Ile de Ngor, as it is called in French, is a peaceful spot and facing the mainland is a protected sandy beach facing east. Actually, there are two beautiful beaches on the island. There are many small restaurants where you can enjoy the view towards Village de Ngor on the mainland and get some food at the same time.

The swell was still pumping and no wind all night, so we got up at 6.00 o'clock in the morning and went straight to N Gor right. Have never see this wave break this great, so heavy and fast. Just got a few Go Pro clips of Adam dropping into some bombs.
