Nha Trang Railway Station | Nha Trang 2019
Despite the fact that Nha Trang city does not belong to major cities in Vietnam, dozens of trains arrive and depart at the city’s railway station.
Do you also plan to come to Nha Trang by train?
This video will introduce you to what the Nha Trang Train Station looks like.
Video shot on February 2019.
Nha Trang to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam) by Rail - 4K
Today we board our train at Nha Trang station for the last leg of our journey along the route of the “Reunification Express”. We are able to watch every-day Vietnam at work as we pass towns, fields and villages, before leaving the coast for the last time. Our diesel locomotive slows to a crawl as it lifts its heavy train into the hills before descending to Ho Chi Minh City, still referred to as Saigon by many.

Vietnam's Reunification Express – Da Nang to Nha Trang - 4K
After spending a couple of nights at the luxurious Hotel Royal in Hoi An we take a short coach ride to Da Nang station to join our train to Nha Trang. Our train is travelling along part of the rail route between Hanoi and Saigon, once used by the Reunification Express, although the name no longer refers to a particular train, the name has stuck.
Taking the train allows travellers to meet the locals, eat their food and see the wonderful landscape, a wonderful experience missed by most in these days of fast air travel.
Vietnam Sleeper Train from Da Nang to Nha Trang
I took the sleeper train from Da Nang to Nha Trang and want to share the experience to help out fellow travelers.
The 524 kilometre journey takes around 10 hours... or sometimes 11... just depending on your luck.
We decided to take the train over a plane for the experience. Although flying would have been much faster we thought this would be a great way to take in some of Vietnam's countryside.
And, we figured it would be best to do that during the day.
Taking the train at night is a solid option though. You won't have to write-off an entire day from your travel plans and it'll be one less night of paying for accommodation.
There are 4 types of seats on this train:
1. Hard seat
2. Soft seat
3. Hard berth (6 berths) with the top bunks being the cheapest
4. Soft berth (4 berths) all bunks are priced the same
Take the 4 berths.
Pillows and blankets are provided in the sleepers (which looked relatively clean).
On our train, people came by offering light snacks throughout the trip and a meal was served for lunch - everything was reasonably priced.

I hope you find this video helpful when planning your time in Vietnam and deciding how to get around.
I booked online at which was simple and straightforward. Make sure to save your e-tickets to your phone in case you can't access your email at the station.

Footage of the SE6 Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi sleeper train arriving at Nha Trang railway station
Nha trang is interesting as trains from both north and south enter the station from the west but instead of having to run around, the trains go round a tight loop and past the station again before continuing their journey

Not only will Jim show you where he began his journey (i.e. the train station and available amenities/ facilities), he also shares with you how the first , second and third class train cabins look like. Not forgetting a mention of facilities and service provided in the train - washrooms, a canteen carriage, service crew selling food and drinks using push carts, and so much more! 144th, Nha Trang, Vietnam 1967
I did some filming with a 8mm home movie camera while serving in the Army as an entry level R-U8D mechanic stationed with the 144th Aviation Company (RR) in Nha Trang, Vietnam from December 1966 to December 1967. The (RR) stands for Radio Research. For more about the units mission I recommend reading “Unlikely Warriors, The Army Security Agency’s Secret War in Vietnam 1961-1973”, available on Amazon and elsewhere.
The film has a number of splices and was viewed many times before going through a rough digitation process causing the image to jump around a bit.
Although nowhere was considered safe in Vietnam, Nha Trang, in my view, was as good as it got. It’s now a beach front tourist town.
As mentioned in the ending credits the drum rhythm sound tracks are by the usual guys attending our Tuesday drum jams at Water Works Park in Vancouver, Washington during the summer of 2016 and include: Andrew Hill, Russell Luke, Gary Goodenough, myself, Rex Jackson and sometimes, Chuck Bender.
RJ HOME MOVIES 1967/2018.
Enjoy.

In the capital of the province of Khánh Hòa there is one of the best Vietnamese resorts - Nha Trang city.
The city is developing rapidly, attracting tourists with beautiful beaches, coral reefs and a variety of entertainment.
Nha Trang Bay is one of the twenty most beautiful bays in the world.
The most interesting thing in Nha Trang is certainly boat trips to the closely located islands. In the clear turquoise water near Nha Trang, many tourists go snorkeling and diving. The city has many travel agencies offering diving services.
However, the rainy season, which usually begins in October and lasts through December, can ruin the pleasure of diving.
During heavy rains, the two rivers washing the city carry silt into the sea, and the water becomes muddy near the shore.
From November to January, the sea often storms. This is a time of risky rest, although in these months the weather is beautiful and warm. The best time for a beach holiday is from March to September (October).
The hot sun rises over the horizon at 6 am About an hour later, you can already begin to swim and sunbathe. Knowledgeable and experienced tourists usually spend time on the beach until 10-11 am. Then the sun is at its zenith and it gets very hot. From 11 am to 2 pm it is better to spend time not on the beach. Nha Trang has a huge selection of restaurants, bars, where you can dine delicious seafood and enjoy fresh juices or fruits.
After eleven o'clock in the morning, many tourists leave the beach and return only after 14 o'clock in the afternoon. At noon it is better not to go out in the sun at all. The sun is very hot and active. At this time, it is better to rest in the shade under palm trees or under special umbrellas made of palm leaves.
Nha Trang is famous for its seafood. Among them are scallops, lobster, shrimp, crabs, octopus, as well as various fish, including tuna and mackerel.
Fish are mostly caught in small boats, which go out to sea every day at about 4 or 5 pm and return with a fish catch in the early morning, at about 4 am.
Nha Trang is located on the coast of the South China Sea.
Along the famous beach (7 km.) from the south to the north is a Trần Phú street.
The embankment continues further north after the Great North Bridge, where the street is already called Phạm văn đồng.

Welcome to Nha Trang | Travel Cinematography 2019
Nha Trang is Vietnam’s most famous seaside resort-town. It's more lively and urban in character than other beach destinations like Mui Ne and Phu Quoc. It's also the scuba diving center of Vietnam.
2) When is the best time to visit Nha Trang?
The best time to visit is between February and May with average temperature between 26 and 27°C. If you’re a diving enthusiast, the peak diving season in Nha Trang runs between January and October. And avoid traveling during the annual monsoon period is between September and December. Heavy rainfall can lead to rather violent thunderstorms and typhoons.
3) Money guide :
The official currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese dong (VND). Current exchange rate is around VND 10,000 = MYR1.80
4) Traveling to Nha Trang from Malaysia :
· AirAsia
· Vietjet Air
· Vietnam Airlines
· Hahn Air
And of course we chose AirAsia, the cheapest among all. We bought at RM384/pax ++. Approx RM 580/ pax after add tax, baggage, seat, meal and insurance.
5) Where to stay?
The iconic Tran Phu Street, also known as the Pacific Coast Highway of Vietnam, is a beautiful seaside promenade that’s home to many beachfront resorts, budget hotels, museums, eateries and bars are lined along the street. Visitors can also enjoy a wide array of activities such as surfing, snorkelling, bicycle tours, spa treatments, meditation and yoga at Tran Phu Beach.
We stay at Starcity Hotel (RM282/per room) which you may get cheaper price as we booked very very last minute. The room comes with ocean view and complimentary 30 mins foot massage. Nice hotel, located right opposite Tran Phu Beach and there’s towels, beach bench and umbrella provided. And most importantly the yummy breakfast buffet that they served.
6) How to travel around Nha Trang ?
It’s quite convenient to travel around in Nha Trang with GRAB, price is reasonable too but avoid paying in big notes as most of the time, they would not return you the small change.
