The Whirlpool at Niagara Gorge and Niagara Glen - Canada (photo video with music)
“Designed by renowned Spanish engineer, Leonardo Torres Quevedo, the Whirlpool Aero Car has been soaring the Niagara Gorge since 1916. The antique cable car is suspended from six sturdy cables and offers spectacular views of the swirling Niagara Whirlpool and the Class 6 whitewater rapids of the Niagara River.
Although the Whirlpool Aero Car travels between two points on the Canadian shore, riders of this historic cable car actually cross the international border line between Canada and the United States a total of four times each trip due to the way the river elbows.”

The water from the Niagara Falls flows down the river. The land was eroded over time and it makes a curve in the river. The water flows and hits the shore and then it turns on itself to follow the curve. This is where there is an impact in the flow of water and the whirlpool is created.
Some of earth's history from the brochure by Niagara Parks called Niagara Glen Natural History.
The Silurian Period occurred between 444 - 419 million years ago. This 25-million-year span of Earth's history was characterized by warm, sunlit seas and huge coral reefs (larger than any that exist today). It was during this time that most of the rock in Niagara Glen was formed. The formation of these rocks occurred in an environment far different than what is seen today.
Then the folder describes the Pleistocene Epoch and the creation of Niagara Falls. The important fact to note is that there was ten thousand years of carving away at the rock that created Niagara Gorge and kept moving/carving the land back to where the Niagara Falls are today!
From the folder:
The Pleistocene Epoch occurred relatively recently in Earth's history, from 2.6 million years ago to 12,000 years ago. The Pleistocene epoch is characterized by a relatively cold climate, allowing massive glaciers to form and cover much of the Earth's surface, thus giving rise to the term Ice Age. Glaciers in this time were so extensive that they stretched from their origin in the arctic to areas further south than the Niagara region, covering this area in a thick layer of ice. The end of the Pleistocene is marked by warming climate which lead to the melting of these glaciers exposing the Niagara Region and leaving a large basin of melt-water, the Great Lakes. Soon after, water flowing north and over the escarpment from Lake Erie into Lake Ontario would create Niagara Falls, which would spend the next ten thousand years carving away at the rock, creating the Niagara Gorge and bring the massive waterfall to its current location.”

“Located deep in the Niagara Gorge, stairways lead to 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) of rugged paths that wind through this pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest, past prehistoric geological formations, wild flora and fauna. The Niagara Glen overlooks the rapid waters of the Niagara River and the natural phenomenon that is the Niagara River Whirlpool.”

LONG WEEKEND IN NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA!
NIAGARA GLEN || NIAGARA RIVER || LAKE ONTARIO || HORSESHOE FALLS || BRIDAL VEIL FALLS || NIAGARA ON THE LAKE || MAID OF THE MIST || CLIFTON HILL
It took us 2 hours to get to Niagara Falls from Toronto.
Our first stop was the Niagara Glen nature reserve- where you can get a view of Niagara river from above, as well as hike trails down to the river through Carolinian forest. It was our first time here, and we were really impressed with the hike! The colour of the water was incredible.
Our next stop was seeing the falls! In Niagara, you will see two waterfalls. The first is the American falls called Bridal Veil Falls, and the second is the Canadian falls called Horseshoe falls. Both falls are beautiful but the Canadian falls is truly magnificent. The falls are so powerful... you can really feel the reverberation from crashing water. It is a memorable experience.
Then we went to check out Clifton Hill- the main strip in Niagara Falls where all the action is. You can visit Ripley’s Museum, a wax museum, the sky wheel, bowling, a mini coaster, and more! It is like a mini Las Vegas, but more kids friendly.
Oh! Try to avoid the long weekend when visiting! Because we didn't and it was super crowded, and hotels are 3 times more expensive than a regular weekend. So instead of spending the night in a hotel, we camped at Riverside Campground and save some money. Talk about travelling on a budget!

Wikipedia stuff:
Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the US state of New York. They form the southern end of the Niagara Gorge.
From largest to smallest, the three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls lie on the border of the United States and Canada[1] while the American Falls lie entirely on the United States' side, separated by Goat Island. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also on the United States' side, separated from the American Falls by Luna Island.
Located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America that has a vertical drop of more than 50 metres (160 ft). During peak daytime tourist hours, more than 168,000 m3 (six million cubic feet) of water goes over the crest of the falls every minute.[2] Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by flow rate.[3]
The falls are 27 kilometres (17 mi) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, and 121 kilometres (75 mi) south-southeast of Toronto, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York. Niagara Falls was formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation (the last ice age), and water from the newly formed Great Lakes carved a path through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean.
Niagara Falls is famed both for its beauty and as a valuable source of hydroelectric power. Balancing recreational, commercial, and industrial uses has been a challenge for the stewards of the falls since the 19th century.

Niagara Glen Nature Area (LQ)
Always a nice walk, if you don't mind a lot of walking up and down. Between the metal and stone stairs to get to and from the water's edge, it can leave the legs a little sore. It really doesn't take too long to cover the area, I would say you could spend a few hours down there if you take your time and hang out by the rapids. Worth the effort every time, one of the top things to see in the Falls in my books. The Jet boat tours may be better suited to those who are not able to make the climb, it is not wheel chair friendly.

Vlog #8 Baby Boomers Challenge - Hiking at Niagara Glen Nature
The recycled teenagers went hiking at Niagara Glen hiking trails. Niagara Glen is a nature reserve located near Niagara whirlpool along the Canadian side of the Niagara Gorge. It is one of the best preserved remaining example of Southern Ontario's original Carolinian forest.
The hike has some challenges so for baby boomers I suggest to wear proper trail shoes or hiking boots and use hiking poles so you can easily tackle the stone steps. However this is easy enough for baby boomers. I say the hike is moderate because there are trails that are steep and stony.
PROLOGUE: My journey into vlogging like a Millennial.
I decided to start vlogging seriously this year. I always create travel vlog videos whenever I travel but they turned out just okay but not good enough for a YouTube Channel. I watched a lot of millennial doing incredible travel vlogs. Since I need to be home to look after my aging parent and young son, I decided to pursue this new craze, becoming a vlogger myself.
After I watched several tips on how to become successful YouTuber, the general consensus is to practice practice practice. So this first video series is all about just me talking spontaneously without a script. Just like a toastmaster but on YouTube.
I am also learning to build this channel while I am practicing, learning my tools and the art of making films. If you are reading this, please join me in my journey. Why not Subscribe to my channel and like my videos while at it. Better yet say some encouraging comments and tips if you have any. Constructive criticism is welcome. No bashing, please.
Thank you so much. God bless you all.
