East Gippsland Food, Wine & Beer Festival
Meet two passionate East Gippsland chefs & local produce fans making the East Gippsland Food Wine and Beer Festival great in 2018! Watch the first video in the festival interview series, Mark Briggs of SARDINE eatery + bar Paynesville & Tanya Bertino of The Long Paddock Lindenow, talking about their passion for working with East Gippsland's amazing produce and more!
Bairnsdale serves up the best at East Gippsland Food, Wine & Beer Festival 2018:
Leading producers from across regional Victoria will serve up their best at the inaugural East Gippsland Food, Wine + Beer Festival to be held in Bairnsdale on Sunday April 8.
Renowned local eateries, including Lindenow’s The Long Paddock and Sardine Eatery + Bar from Paynesville, are among those taking part in the event, to be held at the Bairnsdale Racecourse.
They will be joined by Lakes Entrance café and caterer Albert & Co, Bairnsdale’s Yellow Belly Deli, The Dutch Oven, Street Eats, Wheelie Good Pizza, Forge Creek Lamb, Gippsland Gourmet Sausages, Café Escargot, Yes Chef Solutions, Snowy River Station and Fleming Berries.
The self-funded event is being run by Aaron Kyriazis and Evan Downie, from Bairnsdale catering business, The Dutch Oven. “There are such great things happening in the food and beverage scene and we thought why not showcase what we've got, in one area, on one day,” Mr Kyriazis said.
“We have worked with restaurants, vineyards and breweries from across Victoria to showcase some the best produce and products available. There are award-winning cool climate wine makers, artisan food producers and creative chefs showcasing a rich variety food, wine and beer.”
A highlight of the festival will be the release of a special festival beer, a collaboration between Sardine and Orbost-based micro-brewery Sailors Grave to be named The Swim. The traditional gose beer will be infused with sea figs foraged from the pristine East Gippsland coast.
Sailors Grave Brewing’s Chris and Gab Moore will be there, pouring their locally brewed beers. They will be joined by Coldstream Brewery, Dainton Brewing and Blizzard Brewery. Those who prefer wine can enjoy wines from Sarsfield Estate, Wild Dog Winery, Pizzini Wines, Wyanga Park Winery and Brandy Creek Estate. There will be coffee by Kombi Koffee.
“Don’t miss the famous sweet and savoury treats served up by The Long Paddock’s chefs, Tanya Bertino and Anton Eisenmenger, in their first outdoor event,” Mr Kyriazis said. “Or match local sardines grilled by award-winning chef Mark Briggs, from Sardine in Paynesville, with Sailors Grave sour beer infused with local seaweed.”
The festival will open with a traditional Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony performed by members of East Gippsland’s Gunaikurnai mob. The event will have a strong focus on families, with free kids’ activities such as jumping castles, a petting zoo and roving performers. Live music and lawn-mower races will add to the festive atmosphere and Blue Tree Honey farm will have a bee-hive demonstration.
“We’d encourage people to come for the weekend and spend some time exploring our amazing region,” Mr Downie said. “There are great places to stay – the Riversleigh in Bairnsdale, The Esplanade Resort in Lakes Entrance or Captains Cove in Paynesville – and plenty to see and do.”
There is even a chance to win accommodation in the East Gippsland Food, Wine + Beer Festival Selfie Competition. “Take as many selfies with different vendor stalls in the background and share it on our Facebook and Instagram page for your chance to win an accommodation voucher from Esplanade Resort and Spa,” he said. The winner will be announced on the day.
Festival goers are encouraged to bring picnic rugs or deck chairs, and to ensure they have enough cash to cover their expenses – there will be no ATMs or EFTPOS facilities onsite.
The East Gippsland Food, Wine + Beer Festival runs from 11 to 5pm on Sunday April 8, 2018 at Bairnsdale Racecourse, 75 Racecourse Road, Bairnsdale. Further information is available at

Bill Chambers Interview with Mick & Jay - Country Music World
In this episode of Country Music World, Mick & Jay interview legendary Australian musician Bill Chambers.
Bill talks about his early touring days with his family band The Dead Ringer Band, life out on the road with his daughter Kasey and we also chat about the current state of country music and how Bill has seen it change over the past 40 years.
Bill has just been nominated for another Aria Award this year and we wish him all the best on the night!
Bill Chambers New Album ‘Cold Trail’ is his first studio album in 4 Years. Although in the meantime he’s released the Live @ The Pub Tamworth DVD and CD.
Bill has left anything but a ‘Cold Trail, he continues to tour the world playing in daughter Kasey’s band and also his own solo shows, playing anything from house concerts and coffee lounges to major festivals.
If you’ve been in the audience at a Bill Chambers concert you’ll notice he always travels with a swag of guitars showcasing his connection to different styles of music that he’s been influenced by over the years.
“I grew up listening to the Hillbilly music my mum and dad played when i was a kid. I discovered early Rock’n’Roll, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. In recent times I’ve been particularly influenced by the Texas Singer/Songwriters”.
When he's not on the road you'll most likely find Bill producing and playing on some other artists album.
'I consider myself lucky to have worked in the studio with so many talented people over the years, it's always exciting to discover new artists and work on great songs'.
Bill has produced albums for Catherine Britt, Audrey Auld, Amos Morris, Jessica Belle, Sandra Humphries and HalleyAnna Finlay from Texas.
When you see Bill Chambers live on stage its evident that his music reflects his early influences and resonates with stories of his life on the road.
On behalf of Mick & Jay and everyone in the Country Music World, we wish you the very best success and good luck in your future!
