Nida, Lithuania - Exploring the Curonian Spit sand dunes and beach to the Russian border!

Follow me as I explore the colorful village of Nida, Lithuania and above all the majestic sand dunes of the Curonian Spit.
The itinerary I am following is a loop starting and ending in Nida, first going up the dune to the top and the viewpoint. Then, I follow the road to the campground and the immense beach on the Baltic sea.
After walking to the border with Kaliningrad (Russia), I walk back to the sand dunes to explore them more extensively, until reaching the Curoninan Lagoon again. Finally, I just need to follow this shore all the way back to Nida.
It's a nice walk that will show you most landscapes of the Curoninan Spit, easy to do in a day.
I recommend walking up the dune to the view point in the morning, as the light is the most beautiful at this time - The sun is shining on the waters of the Curoninan Lagoon.

Crossing the sea of the Curonian Lagoon by ferry you get to the Curonian Spit from where you reach NIDA. A small city once inhabited by fishermen, it is famous for its granite sundial and fantastic sand dunes. Walking along a short stretch of forest you arrive to the beaches of the Baltic Sea in whose waters you can see many harmless jellyfish scientifically known as Aurelia Aurita. JOUDKRANTE -- The Hill of Witches. When the rooster crowed the ghosts ran away ... and we also celebrate this special occasion by a horrible dancing!!
Attraversando in traghetto il Mare della Laguna dei Curi si arriva alla Penisola di Neringa da dove si raggiunge NIDA. Antico villaggio di pescatori e famoso per la storica meridiana in granito e le splendide dune di sabbia. Attraversando un breve tratto di foresta si arriva, con una camminata, alle spiagge del Mar Baltico nelle cui acque si possono trovare le innocue meduse della specie Aurelia Aurita. JOUDKRANTE' -- La Collina delle Streghe. “Il gallo canto’ e fuggirono i fantasmi” … ed anche noi per non sottrarci alla festa, partecipammo con un orribile ballo!!
