The Seilbahnen Beatenberg-Niederhorn is a pulsed movement gondola lift in the Swiss Canton of Berne. It links the village of Beatenberg with the summit of the Niederhorn. At Beatenberg, the lift connects with the Thunersee–Beatenberg Bahn, a funicular which links with the shipping services on Lake Thun.
The lift, opened in 1997, replaces an earlier aerial cable car on a similar route that was completed in 1946. The line operates four groups of three cabins, which are moved by an endless cable whilst supported by two further cables. Each cabin accommodates up to 17 passengers. There is one intermediate stop, at Vorsass

Winterwanderweg Niederhorn - Beatenberg Waldegg /// Jan. 2018
Von Beatenberg Station bin ich hoch gelaufen auf's Niederhorn, um die Tour etwas anspruchsvoller zu gestalten. Nach Belieben nimmt man die Luftseilbahn auf's Niederhorn und beginnt die Wanderung nach Waldegg da. Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten. Man kann die Tour auch umgekehrt machen und mit dem Schlitten via Vorsass nach Beatenberg Station sausen. ( Falls es denn Schnee hat !)

Die Gratwanderung am Niederhorn markiert nicht nur unsere erste richtige gemeinsame Wanderung nach 7 Jahren, sondern ist gleichzeitig auch Schauplatz unserer ersten zaghaften «VLOGGING» Gehversuche.
Die imposante Kulisse von Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau lockte nicht nur Wanderer an. Was uns neben Gleitschirmfliegern und Kühen sonst noch so pelziges über den Weg lief, erfahrt ihr im Video.

This wonderful route starts off at the Güggisgrat, a narrow ridge offering views over the Justis valley on the left, and a breathtaking panorama of Lake Thun, Blüemlisalp, Stockhorn, Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Niesen on the right. This high Alpine landscape consists of rocks and conifer trees, and you may even encounter wild goats and chamois.

The Niederhorn (elevation 1963 metres) is a peak of the Emmental Alps in the Bernese Oberland near Beatenberg. It is the peak farthest west in the Güggis ridge. From its summit you can see Lake Thun and the entire Bernese Alps. An aerial cable car to the summit was completed in 1946 with a restaurant and children's playground at the top. Today the summit can be reached by the Seilbahnen Beatenberg-Niederhorn, a more modern gondola lift that runs from the village of Beatenberg, where it connects with the Thunersee–Beatenberg Bahn, a funicular with connections to the shipping services on Lake Thun

Swiss Alps like a Local - Niederhorn Ridge Hike near Interlaken
Our family loves these panorama views from the top of the Niederhorn overlooking Interlaken and the lakes below. It's a great choice if you are staying in the Berner Oberland or Jungfrau Region.
