Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany - Cable Car Ride to Niederwald Monument
Located on the Rhine River, Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany is one of those charming towns you see on postcards. The Niederwald Monument (Niederwalddenkmal) is located high up on a hill overlooking the town and the best way to get to it is to take a Gondola Cable Car ride up. The monument also goes by the name of Germania Statue.
As is usual with my video uploads, Ed does pretty much all of the video filming and narration, while I do the majority of the still photos, edit everything, add music, etc. and upload it.

Niederwald Monument, Unesco World Heritage - Guard on the Rhine
The Niederwald monument at the rhine river belongs to the unesco world heritage sites and the monument has always been an attractive destination. From the Germania you have a wide view over the Rhine valley around Rüdesheim and Bingen.
The Germania monument is situated at the gateway to the Romantic Rhine, on the Unesco World Heritage of the Upper Middle-Rhine Valley. The Niederwald monument is a part of German history!
In the monument five verses of the song Die Wacht am Rhein by Karl Wilhelm are carved.
The original poem was written by Max Schneckenburger and the song composed by Karl Wilhelm in 1854.
German Patriotic Song - Die Wacht Am Rhein (The Guard on the Rhine)
1. A cry like roaring thunder
As rattling of swords, as surgin billow
To the Rhine, To the Rhine, to the German Rhine
Who wants to be the guardian of the stream?
Dear Fatherland, you can be assured
Dear Fatherland, you can be assured
Stand firmly and reamains loyal on guard
The guard on the Rhine!
Stand firmly and reamains loyal on guard
The guard on the Rhine!
2. Through hundred thousands the call flashes through
And all thier eyes shine bright
The German youth, faithful and strong
Guards the German holy landmark
Dear Fatherland, you can be assured
Dear Fatherland, you can be assured
Stand firmly and reamains loyal on guard
The guard on the Rhine!
Stand firmly and reamains loyal on guard
The guard on the Rhine!
3. He casts his eyes to heaven's blue,
From where past heroes hold the view,
And swears pugnaciously the oath,
You Rhine and I, stay German, both.
4. While still remains one breath of life,
While still one fist can draw a knife,
One gun still fired with one hand,
No foe will stand on this Rhine sand.
5. Should my heart not survive this stand,
You'll never fall in foreign hand,
Much, as your waters without end,
Have we our heroes' blood to spend.
6. The oath resounds, on rolls the wave,
The banners fly high, proud, and brave,
The Rhine, the Rhine, the German Rhine
We all shall stand to hold the line!
7. So lead us with your tried command,
With trust in God, take sword in hand,
Hail Wilhelm! Down with all that brood!
Repay our shame with the foes blood!

Jahrhunderts. Es zeigt 133 Personen in Lebensgröße.

Das Niederwalddenkmal
Die Wacht am Rhein
1
4
„Und ob mein Herz im Tode bricht,
Wirst du doch drum ein Welscher nicht;
5
„Solang ein Tropfen Blut noch glüht,
Noch eine Faust den Degen zieht,
Und noch ein Arm die Büchse spannt,
Betritt kein Feind hier deinen Strand.“
