Top 10 Places in PENANG Malaysia - Highlights / Best things to do
I came to Penang on 3 separate visits and got to see most of the important places on the entire Island. Thus, it was time for me to provide you my Top 10 list of the best places that have to be on your itinery when you are planning you next visit. Penang has very well preserved much of its history; it can be seen as what Singapore used to be in 1960. The entire old city of Georgetown has been granted world heritage status by UNESCO, which ensures its preservation for the future. Penang has many beautiful museums, beaches, temples, mosques and churches that are worth to be visited. In addition, Penang is a real paradise for foodie travelers. Its local cuisine ranks among the best in the world. All in all, Penang provides you quite a good mix between sightseeing and chillout time.
A few useful tips for people who only stay 2-3 days in Penang:
Places like the national park and Penang Hill require quite some time to visit and should rather be skipped for short visits. However, if you stay longer, it is a great idea to include them. Traveling in Penang was for me the most convenient using Grab Taxi, as it was cheap and highly efficient.
How to reach Penang: Fly from Kuala Lumpur (Firefly/Airasia), Singapore (Scoot/Airasia) or Bangkok (Airasia):
Information about the Tourism in Penang:
Otherwise there are buses from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, which offer a much cheaper option.

Discovering “blue tears” in Kuala Selangor
“Blue tears,” a natural nighttime phenomenon caused by algae “Dinoflagellates,“ can be seen in Kuala Selangor where visitors get to catch a speedboat ride along the waters where the Selangor River meets the Straits of Malacca.
The 45min-1hour ride from the Jetty Sky Mirror Kuala Selangor is open every evening at 8, 9 and 10pm.
Today Was A Disaster | Travelling From Penang To Langkawi GONE WRONG
Today was a disaster! Travelling from Penang to Langkawi GONE WRONG!!
After spending a few nights on the island of Penang, it was time to head to our next destination Langkawi. We were so excited to be traveling on a ferry today instead of a bus for a change. HOWEVER, as soon as we got on board on the ferry we knew that it was going to be one of those REALLY hard travel days...
The ferry from Penang to Langkawi was seriously overcrowded, and not only that it was REALLY hot, and the windows didn't open. We had been told there would be airconditioning on board.... there wasn't! BUT that was ok, we were just excited to be travelling to our next destination in Malaysia and the ferry was only 4 hours!
We arrived safely but sweaty into Langkawi and stupidly thought... what else could possibly go wrong?! Little did we know that we were about to jump in a taxi and drive to a hostel that DIDNT EXIST!! YIKES!! We had made the mistake of booking on Hostel World and assuming that this was a reliable website to book on...
Thankfully after some running around and a few frantic phone calls, we found the most AMAZING hostel in all of Langkawi. Which funnily enough worked out so much better for us!
Despite the fact that today was a disaster... It all worked out in the end!

The Best Time of Year to Visit Malaysia
Discover Malaysia during its best weather season of the year from December through February. For things to do in Malaysia:
Malaysia has been an Instagram sensation recently thanks to the newly repainted stairs at the Batu Caves. While the sight of 272 rainbow-colored steps ascending to a mystical cave is amazing, it’s just one of the country’s many fascinating landscapes. Travel to the top of the sky-high PETRONAS Towers and venture onto the sky bridge for an amazing observation point of Kuala Lumpur. Paddle onto the Selangor River to see the world’s largest firefly colony dance across the night sky. Or, head to Langkawi for unforgettable island scenery. Thanks to its newly renovated airport, Langkawi is more convenient to get to than ever. Enjoy island hopping through this breathtaking archipelago, explore a rainforest or ride Langkawi’s iconic cable car for unprecedented views of Thailand and Indonesia.

Beautiful Trip to Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. [in clear 4k/ HD1080 ]
During my trip to Malaysia, I got a chance to visit Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. Why is called Sky Mirror? Well, its named after its mirror-like reflection of the sky is a mysterious island that will only emerge for several days every month: During the 1st and 15th of a lunar month, as well as 4 days before or after these dates.
It is also dubbed the Salar de Uyuni of Malaysia, after similar natural wonder in Bolivia.
I have to say the whole trip to Sky Mirror is worth it by getting up wee dawn of the day, 1+ hrs of driving(more/less depending on where you are driving from), and a 45mins of boat ride to get there.
If you are visiting Malaysia, I would recommend this place. Just make sure you check the lunar calendar on which date you can go. Best is to contact a tour guide over there to find out more details about this trip.
Also, in Sky Mirror, you'll see a lot of baby Clams, sea clams, and other marines life. On the way out to the Sky Mirror, you'll be also seeing lots of birds like Milky Storks, eagles, monkeys, etc.
ps: Be prepared for a lot of tourists posing for their best pose to capture the reflection of the sky.
TIPS: Go early of the day if possible. And also, you can go a little farther from the crowd to get the best shot of this place.
Happy Traveling!!

Accomodation & Snorkeling Package:
We stayed at Redang Pelangi Resort for 2 nights. Before the trip, we had booked our accomodation (Deluxe Room - 1 Queen bed) & snorkeling package through their website for RM540.00 per pax. Meals are inclusive as well, so it's a pretty good deal! (Just a sidenote: We did pay a little more for deluxe room, but definitely much more prettier than the standard room. To us, it was worth upgrading.)
How to get to Pulau Redang from Kuala Lumpur
Via Bus (Kuala Lumpur's TBS Bus Terminal - Kuala Terengganu MBKT Bus Terminal -Jetty-Redang Island)
1. Puri and I booked our bus ticket via Redbus.com ( for RM89.00/return per pax (seems to be the cheapest with minimal processing fee) from KL Terminal Bersepadu Selatan to Kuala Terengganu MBKT Bus Terminal.
2. The KL-Terengganu bus does not stop at the Jetty. So from the KT Bus Station, we've transferred to the resort's bus (we've pre-booked the bus transfer RM26.00/two-way per pax, and bus drop off (return from Jetty) for additional RM10.00 per pax) which brought us to the jetty (Merang Jetty), otherwise you can get a cab or Grab to the jetty.
3. From the jetty, boat transfer to Redang Island (which is included in the package. If you're late and miss the boat, there's a surcharge of RM55).
Via Plane (KL-KT Airport-Jetty-Redang Island)
1. You can also take a flight by AirAsia or Firefly which reached TGG airport by 8.30am
2. The bus will pick up from the airport if you pre-book the pick up, otherwise you can get a cab or Grab to the jetty.
3. From the jetty, boat transfer to Redang Island

Little India Penang - Off Beach Street, in George Town UNESCO zone
Little India Penang is a MUST VISIT spot for anyone (like me!) with a love of India, Bollywood films, or who simply wants to tuck into a good curry! I sadly didn't have time to sort out the best restaurants in Little India on this trip but I plan to do that in April so please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don't miss that video :-)
Located in the heart of Penang's UNESCO zone, Little India begins at Beach Street, which is also where you'll find my favourite cup of coffee in Penang at Black Kettle! Check out my review of Black Kettle here:

Juslomena #2 | Penang 2017
Hello,
We're back with our short getaway to Penang Island!
Drove from KL and I'm glad to have my girlfriend who kept me very entertained during the whole 4 hours drive.
We went to the beach, chilled and swam in the pool, visited George Street, and ate Penang's famous char kway teow, prawn noodles, oyster omelette, cendol... and ALOT more!! *slurps*
It was basically, another food trip, again! :P
Hope you enjoy this vlog as much as we did!
Also, stay for the bloopers at the end haha!
xx,
Juslomena
