最後の走り! 新潟交通 保存車自走シーン【鉄道アーカイブ #02】Niigata Kotsu -- Last run for Preservation
かつて新潟市内の白山前駅と弥彦線に接続する燕駅を結んだ新潟交通・電車線。のち白山前〜東関屋、そして月潟〜燕を廃止、どこの鉄道にも接続しない路線となった。しかし赤字額は減らず、結局1999年4月4日限りで全線が廃止された。
映像は1999年4月5日、営業最終日の翌日（廃止当日）、静態保存を目的に、東関屋から月潟まで、保存車が自走で回送された。東関屋から白根までは、ラッセル式除雪貨車・キ116と、その動力車として後押しする電動貨車・モワ51の2両、さらに白根からは最後尾にモハ11も連結、ささやかなヘッドマークを取り付けて最後の走りを見せた。
豪雪地・新潟の象徴ともいえるラッセル車、最盛期には自車に積むだけでなく貨車を牽引して走ったモワ、日車標準車体のモハ11と、いずれも貴重な車両だ。
現在でもこの3両は旧・月潟駅構内で大切に保存され、かつてこの地を走った鉄道の記憶を後世に知らせる役目を果たし続けている。いつまでも良い状態での保存が望まれる車両たちだ。

In the past the Niigata Kotsu Electric Railway Line connected Hakusan-mae Station to Tsubame Station in Niigata prefecture. On the 4th of April 1999, all of the lines were stopped.
The footage is from the day after the last day of operations. In order to preserve the engines on display, they move under their own power to their final destination. In a land of abundant snow: what could be called the image Niigata, the snow-plough Ki 116 being pushed by the electric freight car Mowa 51, and then partway along the electric car Moha 11 is coupled to the rear, each a precious railway car.
Now the three cars are on display in the ruins of Tsukigata station. As trains that once worked the lines of the area, they now continue on working keeping those memories alive for the future generations.

Her penpals family were so incredibly lovely and just beautiful people.
Chieko knew a little bit of English and I knew a little bit of Japanese so we would help each other by translating things for each other, like that Yuki was Snow in English when we went up to the mountain where there was snow. It was really fun and I'm so grateful.
