Nilavarai (Tamil: நிலாவரை Nilāvarai) (pronounced Nilaa-varai) is a location in the Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. It is popular for a natural underground Water well where the water never gets depleted and it serves the irrigation of the neighbouring fields.[1] There is another natural Water well in the Jaffna District by the name Idikundu (Idi-kun-du).The Nilavarai Well is popular attraction in Jaffna lying in Nilaavarai. It referred to as a bottomless well or Deep Well, this well is caused by collapse of the top layer, exposing a limestone cavern connected to a underground water source This is a brand new Hotel. Comfortable and big rooms, like appartments. Excellente restaurant with broad meny from large parts of Asia as well as western. යාපනයේ පොළොව ගුප්ත එකක්. එක් තැනක් සම්පූර්ණයෙන් සිප්පි කටුවෙන්හුණු වැරැටිවලින් සමන්විතයි. තවත් තැනක් සාර වූ ඉතාම පෝෂණීය පසක් ඇති භූමියක්.මේ නිසා යාපනය ලංකාවේ අනිත් තැන් වලට වැඩිය වෙනස්.
යාපනයේ බලන්න තියෙන දේවල් අතර විශේෂ දේ බොහොමයක් තියෙනවා.එකක් තමයි පතුළ නැති ළිඳ. මේකට කියන්නේ නිලාවරෙයි කියලා. යාපනයේ ඉඳලා කිලෝමීටර් 17ක දුරින් කිලිනොච්චිය ආසන්නව තමයි පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ.

Nilavarai Bottomless Well / நிலாவரைக் கிணறு.
The Nilavarai spring is an interesting aquifer closely associated with the Ramayana legend as it is supposed to have been created by Hanuman. He is said to have shot an arrow into the ground, creating a little underground waterway to banish the thirst faced by Rama’s army when they faced a water shortage in the north on their way to the Central Province. Another version of the story tells that both armies were feeling thirsty due to a drought in the north and Rama himself shot an arrow into the ground and created an ever-flowing spring. The spring is located fourteen kilometers southeast of the town of Jaffna and while the water is somewhat salty it is still drinkable.

යාපනයේ පොළොව ගුප්ත එකක්. එක් තැනක් සම්පූර්ණයෙන් සිප්පි කටුවෙන්හුණු වැරැටිවලින් සමන්විතයි. තවත් තැනක් සාර වූ ඉතාම පෝෂණීය පසක් ඇති භූමියක්.මේ නිසා යාපනය ලංකාවේ අනිත් තැන් වලට වැඩිය වෙනස්. යුද්දෙන් පස්සේ බොහෝ දෙනා යාපනයේ ඇවිදින්න යනවා. ගිහිල්ලා නල්ලුර් කෝවිල,නාගදීප පේදුරු තුඩුව, ඩෙල්ෆ් ගිහිං තව කීප තැනක් බලලා තල් රා ටිකක් බීලා තල් හකුරු අරං එනවා එච්චරයි.
හැබැයි යාපනයේ බලන්න තියෙන දේවල් අතර විශේෂ දේ බොහොමයක් තියෙනවා.එකක් තමයි පතුළ නැති ළිඳ. මේකට කියන්නේ නිලාවරෙයි කියලා. යාපනයේ ඉඳලා කිලෝමීටර් 17ක දුරින් තමයි පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ.
හරියටම ගත්තොත් මේ පතුල නොපෙනෙන ළිඳ පිහිටා ඇත්තේ නීලාවරෙයි හන්දියට නුදුරින්. ඒ පැත්තේ අය කියන්නේ මේ ළිඳේ ජලකඳ යාපනය පොළොව කුහරය යටින් ගමන් කර ඉන්දියානු මහ සයුර දක්වා ගමන් කරනවා කියලා.“එදා සටන් විරාම කාලේ මේ ළිඳට මනුස්සයෙක් වැටුණා. ළිඳ ගැඹුරු නිසා මිනිය හොයාගන්න කවුරුවත් ළිඳට බැස්සේ නෑ. වැටුණු මිනිහාගේ මිනිය පස්සෙදි හමුවුණේ කන්කසන්තුරෙයි මුහුදෙන්.”
මුල්ම කාලේ තරුණ ජෝඩු මෙතැනට ඇවිත් සියදිවි නසාගන්නත් සූදානම් වුණා. සමහරු පැනලා ඒ විදියටම මිනී හමුවුණේ නෑ. දැන් මෙතැන ආරක්ෂාව තියෙනවා. අනෙක ළිඳ පතුල සොයාගන්න බැරි නිසාම එක්තරා සීමාවකට යටින් දැල් ගහලා අද තියෙන්නෙ.” මෙවැනි අපූරු කතා රැසක් එගම්වැසියෝ කියනවා. සමහරුන් මේ පිළිබඳ පරීක්ෂණ කරලා තියෙන්නේ තමන් දන්නා විදිහට. තවත් ගැමියෙක් ඒ පරීක්ෂණ විස්තර කලේ මෙහෙම
“එක වතාවක් ගමේ කොල්ලො ටිකක් මේ ළිඳ ළඟට ඇවිත් දෙහි ගෝනියක් ළිඳට හැලුවා. ඒවා මතුවෙන්නේ කොයින් ද කියලා ඒ අය විමසිල්ලෙන් හිටියා. කීරමලෙයි මුහුදින් තමයි එදා මේ දෙහි මතුවෙලා තියෙන්නෙ.
මේ විස්මිත කතා අදහන්න බෑ වගේ දැනුනත් ඒ කතා බොරු කියලා බැහැර කරන්න බෑ. ඒ කොහොම වුනත් ජාතික ජල සම්පාදන මණ්ඩලය අච්චුවේලි ප්‍රදේශයට වතුර දෙන්නේ නීලාවරෙයි පතුල නොපෙනෙන ළිඳෙන්. කොයිතරම් වතුර ගත්තත් නොසිඳෙන මේ ළිඳෙන් දවසකට ගැලුම් දස දහස් ගණනක් පොම්ප කරනවා. එහෙත් එය මොනතරම් නියඟයකදී වුව නොසිඳෙන ළිඳක් වීම පුදුමයක් තමයි.ඇතැම් ජනප්‍රවාද කියන විදිහට මේ ළිඳේ ඉතිහාසය රාවණා යුගය දක්වා විහිදෙයි. රාවණා විසින් පැහැර ගනු ලැබු සීතාව සොයා රාම කුමරා ලංකාවට ගොඩ බැස්සේ හනුමන්තාගේ නායකත්වයට යටතේ සිටි වානර හමුදාවත් එක්ක. ලංකාවේ උතුරු කොනට ගොඩබට මේ මහා වානර හමුදාවට බීමට ජලය තිබුනේ නැහැලු. මේ නිසා පිපාසය ඉවසාගත නොහී වානරයෝ කෑමොර දීලා තියෙනවා.මේ වෙලාවේ රාම කුමාරයා තම අත දරා සිටි දුන්න පොළොව වෙත මානා ස්තෝත්‍රයක් ජප කරමින් හීයක් විදලා තියෙනවා. ඒ හී පහරින් පොළොව පලා මතුවෙලා මහා ජල කඳක් ඇවිත් තියෙනවා. ඒ ජලකඳ මතුවෙලා තතියෙන්නේ මෙතනින්.රාමාගේ හී සරයේ ප්‍රබලත්වය කොයිතරම් ද කිවහොත් පැලී ගිය පොළොවේ කෙළවරක් සොයා ගන්න බැරිවෙලා. ඒකලු මේ
ළිඳට පතුලක් නැත්තේ.
එසේම දෙමළ ජනකතා අතර තවත් කතාවක් මෙය ශිව හා පාර්වතී දෙවියටත් සම්බන්ධ කරනවා. පාර්වතී දේවියට ඉවසාගත නොහුණු පිපාසයක් මේ නීලාවරෙයි ප්‍රදේශයේදී ඇති වෙලා තියෙනවා. මේ කටුක ගුප්ත පොළොව දෙස බැලු ශිව හිස් අහස් කුසට අත් ඔසවා ප්‍රාර්ථනාවක් කලාට පස්සේ පොළොව දෙබෑවි මේ අපූරු ළිඳ නිර්මාණය වීය.තේරුම් ගත නොහැකි ඕනෑම සංසිද්ධියක් අරබයා මිනිස්සු දේවත්වය කැඳවා ගන්න එක සාමාන්‍ය දෙයක් . ඒත් යාපනය නීලාවරෙයි පතුල නොපෙනෙන ළිඳ ගැන හන්තාන මූලික අධ්‍යාපන ආයතනයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ භූ විද්‍යාඥ මහාචාර්ය සී. බී. දිසානායකයන් කරුණු විස්තර කැර ඇත්තේ මෙහෙමයි.
“ළිඳක් වුණාම පතුළක් තිබිය යුතුයි. එහෙත් යාපනයේ භූ විද්‍යාත්මක සාධකවලට අනුව නීලාවරෙයි ළිඳේ තියෙන්නේ වෙනස් තත්ත්වයක්. යාපනය පොළොවේ යට තියෙන්නේ හුණුගල්.මේවා ලෙහෙසියෙන්ම කැබැලි වෙනවා. ඒ අතර කුස්තර හැදෙනවා. මේ කුස්තර අතරින් පහසුවෙන් ජලය ගලා යනවා. මේ විදියට කිලෝමීටර ගණනාවක් වුණත් ජලය ගලාගෙන යන්ඩත් පුළුවන්. නමුත් පොළොව ගිලා බැසීම් හා කඩා වැටීම් සිද්ධ වීමේ අවදානම වැඩියි.”
“සාමාන්‍යයෙන් හුණුගල් කුස්තුර තියෙන නිසාම ජල මාර්ග එකිනෙක සම්බන්ධ වෙලා පද්ධතියක් ලෙස පොළොව යටින් ගලා යාම පහසු කරවන්නක්. එවැනි භූගත ජල මාර්ග මුහුද දක්වාම පැතිරි තිබෙන්නටත් පුළුවන්. මේ සාධක අනුව අපට නිගමනය කළ හැක්කේ නීලාවරෙයි ළිඳේ පතුල නොපෙනෙන්නේ එහි ඇති හුණුගල් කුස්තර නිසයි.
