The Pacific Locomotive Association has been operational in Niles Canyon with the NCRy. for 30 years. Here they celebrate on an unusually windy cool May 20, 2018. The dead cat on the mic couldn't even knock down all the wind noise.

Four Steam Locomotives! Niles Canyon Railway Steamfest II
Four tank engines running at the Niles Canyon Railway on September 20, 2009 as part of Steamfest II. The railroad runs between Fremont and Sunol, California, on the right-of-way of the former Southern Pacific. The locomotives featured are Quincy 2-6-2T No. 2, Robert Dollar 2-6-2T No. 3, Mason County Logging 2-6-2T No. 7 (from Roots of Motive Power) and Granite Rock 0-6-0T No. 10 (from the California State Railroad Musuem). The footage was filmed during special Photographer's Trains that were run in the morning and afternoon, and aboard a special quadrupleheader that ran to Hearst.

(4-18-15) [HD] Granite Rock Co #10 Returns Steam to California State Railroad Museum
(Watch in HD) Granite Rock #10, an H.K. Porter 0-6-0T, has returned steam for the first time in 4 years! The reason why Granite Rock Co #10 hasn't ran in over 4 years and didn't visit the 2014 Niles Canyon Steamfest III is because there were problems with the firebox and that would need major repairs. So now the Granite Rock Co #10 is back and running and should probably visit the next Niles Canyon Steamfest along with either Mason County Logging Co #7 or the Santa Cruz Portland Cement #2 Chiggen.

Me going for a walk at Horseshoe Lake at the Quarry Lakes Park at Fremont, CA
My question: Is the drought really natural or artificial? There are more consumers here than ever before and there's nothing thirstier than a growing city.

Fremont California Mountains Captured by 4K Drone Footage
An afternoon in fall. Filmed in Fremont, CA.
Broncho Billy & The Classic Cowboy Silent Films Of Niles CA
Historic look at the early days of film that begins with scenes from the Edison Picture The Great Train Robbery and then moves on to peep show kinetoscope reels and tells the story of a vaudeville bit player who rose to acclaim and became one of America's first movie stars. This 1964 KPIX TV documentary film explores the early film career of Bronco Billy Anderson ( originally vaudeville actor Gilbert Max Aronson 1880-1971) and his role at the Essanay Film Company in Niles California. See footage of the small Bay Area town near Fremont, that prior to the emergence of Hollywood, was a leading location for westerns, comedies and other film feature productions between 1912-1916. Documentary includes extensive scenes of silent films produced at the studio (including early Charlie Chaplin features), recollections of the hard drinking casts & crews on the studio lot in Niles, and reflections on Anderson's contribution to the western movie genre. It ends with a view of him at the Shrine Auditorium, accepting an honorary Oscar for his pioneering film work in 1958. This film includes interviews with Bronco Billy and was narrated by Don Brice, Gilbert M. Anderson and Bill Cato and written and produced by Ray Hubbard and later converted in 2011 to digital media by Alex Cherian for the San Francisco State University's Bay Area Television Archive DIVA project .

The Niles Canyon Railway (NCRy) is a heritage railway running through Niles Canyon, between Sunol and the Niles district of Fremont in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, in California, United States. The railway is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Niles Canyon Transcontinental Railroad Historic District.[1] The railroad is operated and maintained by the Pacific Locomotive Association which preserves, restores and operates historic railroad equipment. The NCRy features public excursions with both steam and diesel locomotives along a well-preserved portion of the First Transcontinental Railroad. The Golden Gate Railroad Museum moved its collection from San Francisco to the NCRy in 2007 for storage and limited operations after their home at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard was shut down for redevelopment.

Niles Canyon Railway Train of Lights - 12/5/2014
While volunteering at Niles Canyon Railway in Fremont, CA, I had a chance to video the Train of Lights as it departed Niles for Sunol. This was the first video I’ve shot with my new Samsung phone. The time of day was about 4:45pm and, with a storm approaching, the lighting was less than optimal but I was pleased with overall results. Enjoy.
