Sri Nimishamba temple, Srirangapattana / ಶ್ರೀನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ, ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಪಟ್ಟಣ

Sri Nimishamba temple of Srirangapatna is located on the banks of River Kaveri. This is at a distance of 24Kms from heritage capital of Karnataka, Mysuru and 131Kms from the capital city Bengaluru. Nimishamba temple is believed to have been built during the reign of Sri Raja Wodeyar (1578 – 1617AD) . This temple has been constructed and consecrated according to the Shivapanchayatana system and Agamashastras. Sri Nimishambhadevi with Srichakra, Sri Moukthikeshwara Swamy and Sri Lakshminarayana Swamy, Ganapathi, and Hanuman. SuryaNarayana Swamy are the consecrated deities here.

The temple is administered by Muzrai Department of Government of Karnataka.

ಶ್ರೀನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಕಾವೇರಿ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ರಾಜಧಾನಿ ಮೈಸೂರಿನಿಂದ 24 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರವಿದ್ದು ರಾಜಧಾನಿಯಾದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು131 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರವಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀರಾಜ ವೊಡೆಯರ್‌ರವರ( ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ.1578 - 1617) ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗಿದೆಯೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಆಗಮೋಕ್ತ ರೀತ್ಯಾ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಶಿವಪಂಚಾಯತನ ಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯದೇವ, ಗಣಪತಿ, ಶ್ರೀಚಕ್ರಸಹಿತ ಶ್ರೀ ನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ಮೌಕ್ತಿಕೇಶ್ವರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿನಾರಾಯಣಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗಳಿವೆ.

ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮುಜರಾಯಿ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಆಡಳಿತಕ್ಕೊಳಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

SRI NIMISHAMBA TEMPLE MYSORE

Sri Nimishamba is considered as the incarnation of Goddess Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva. This place Ganjam is considered as a holy place. Muktharaja of Somavamsha Aryakshatriya performed penance at Nimishamba Temple.

shrichakra is carved on a stone in front of Sri Nimishamba and pooja is performed. There is a belief that Sri Nimishamba is going to remove all the problems and troubles of her devotees within a minute. That is why she is called Nimishamba. Nimisha means a minute. Somavamsha Aryakshatriya Mutharasa king Muktharaja was blessed with the boon that Sri Nimishamba will come to his aid in his fight against the demons in a minute. That is why there is a deity Lord Shiva by the name of Moukthikeshwara. This temple was installed at the time of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar about 300 to 400 years ago.

The temple of Nimishamba lies at a distance of two kilometres from Srirangapatna bus stand in the eastern direction beyond Tippu's summer palace on the road leading to Sangam. The temple is at a higher elevation on the bank of the Cauvery, and faces east. The river flows by at a lower level, and steps have been neatly cut on stone slabs to reach it. It is a small shrine with a seven-tiered rajagopuram. Goddess Nimishamba's sannidhi is to the right as one enters the shrine. It is a fine piece of icon. She is beautifully bedecked with jewellery and garlands of red roses. In front of the Goddess is placed the Sri Chakra to which puja is done with kumkum by the priest. The devotees stand in rapt attention till deeparadhana is offered to the deity.

Adjoining the sannidhi of the Goddess is that of Siva, whose appellation is Aksheeswara. The icon is a small sized linga. The Nandi is proportionately small sized, and is diagonally facing Siva. Only after offering `deeparadhana' to Siva, it is offered to the Goddess. Adjoining this sannidhi is that of Lakshminarayana. All the three sannidhis are in a row. There are no suka nasi and Navaranga. There is only a mukha mantapa.

Srirangapatna is an island fortress-city is of great religious, cultural and historic importance. It is situated about 14 Kms. from Mysore and 125 Kms. from Bangalore. Srirangapatna is nestled in the banks of river Cauvery is about 3 Kms. in length and one Km. in breadth. The town derives its name from the presiding deity of Ranganatha Swamy temple situated at the western end of the island in the Cauvery River.

SRI NIMISHAMBHA TEMPLE- Powerfull God

Srirangapatna, is one of the Historical Famous Tourist centre /place of Karnataka State which is situated at Mandya District, from Srirangapatna town about 2.5 km distance in basin of Cauvery River at Ganjam village. The famous Sri Nimishambha Temple existing, this Temple was constructed as per the Agamoktha system, idols were installed on the basis of Shivapanchayathan. Here Sri Nimishambhadevi, with Sreechakra Sri Moukthikeshwara Swamy and Sri lakshminarayana Swamy god`s idols of Surya Deva , Ganapathi, and Hunuman.
During the period of 1578 to 1617 this Srirangapatna becomes the capital city of Mysore, during that period, Raja Wodeyar of Mysore installed Sri Nimishambhadevi, and constructed this Temple Background of formation of Sri Nimishambhadevi and speciality of Shreechakra.
As per the instructions of Sri Sri Parameshwara decided to conduct Poundareeka Yaga by Sumanaska for the benefit of earth/world, as per he given the responsibilities of this yaga to Mukthaka Rushi who is real Shiva. This matter was came to the Knowledge of Sriman narada by Janu and Sumandalas and they decided to abolish and giving troubles to this Yaga and consulted with their Guru (Teacher) Shukracharya in this matter, The said Janu and Sumandalas sent their army along with their ministers namely Shoorabahu and Ghatodaras, Their army was abolished and breaked by Mukthaka in a second of time, This matter heard by the said Janu and Sumandalas become angry and they prepared to conduct war along with Mukthaka Rushi personally and the battle going on strongly, In this said war Mukthaka defeated by them. All the weapons held by Mukthaka was became no use and useless, The defeated person in the war Mukthaka prayed with the Parvathi, in a second of time the said Parvathi, came out from the Yagnakunda. The Janu and Sumandalas were able to get a blessings (Vara) from Brahma which well Known to the Parvathi that they taken this blessings from Brahma that their deaths were not be happened with any weapons and Parvathidevi killed them on her sixth sence and observed for completion of the Yaga, with this the said Mukthaka Rushi became very happy and he used the word of O Jaganmathe, Nimishambha, due to this Nimishambha name came to Parvathidevi.
In front of Idol of shree Nimishambha Amma Bhooprastara, Krishnashila Sreechakra existing, In this Sreechakra very specialisted Beejakshara, Moolamanthra written and which is a rare sree chakra in the whole world. This Sri Nimishambhadevi become famous in fulfilling the prayers of the devotees immediately.
