City in Japan
Himeji is a city in the Kansai region of Japan. It’s known for the sprawling, centuries-old, white Himeji Castle, one of the few original castles from Japan’s feudal period.
The top floor of the 6-story main keep offers views over the extensive castle grounds. The Nishi-no-Maru section of the complex contains royal residential quarters. Next, to the castle, Kōko-en is a traditional Edo-style garden.

Nishinomaru Garden (Momijidani Garden) ( 西之丸庭園(紅葉渓庭園) )
Description
————————————————————————
This is a valuable Edo Era “daimyo” (feudal lord) garden because it one of the few remaining gardens created on the grounds of a castle. The autumn leaves are at their best in late November. It is from the beauty of the autumn foliage that the garden has been nicknamed “Momijidani Garden” (Autumn Leaf Valley Garden). At Koshouan, an adjacent teahouse, you can admire the garden and rest while having some “matcha” tea and Japanese sweets.

OSAKA CASTLE , Japan 大坂城・大阪城
Osaka Castle is a Japanese castle in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.
Originally called Ozakajō, it is one of Japan's most famous castles, and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Osaka Castle is situated on a plot of land roughly one kilometer square. It is built on two raised platforms of landfill supported by sheer walls of cut rock, using a technique called Burdock piling, each overlooking a moat. The central castle building is five stories on the outside and eight stories on the inside, and built atop a tall stone foundation to protect its occupants from sword-bearing attackers.
The Castle grounds, which cover approximately 60,000 square meters (15 acres)[1] contain thirteen structures which have been designated as Important Cultural Assets by the Japanese government,[2] including the Toyokuni Shrine, dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Japan Vlog #3 A Day Trip To Osaka Castle
Making the most of my short stay in Osaka; Bumbling around Osaka Castle and the surrounding park!
Osaka Castle 大坂城 or 大阪城
Osaka International Peace Center 大阪国際平和センタ
The construction of Osaka Castle (大阪城, Ōsakajō) started in 1583 on the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple, which had been destroyed by Oda Nobunaga thirteen years earlier. Toyotomi Hideyoshi intended the castle to become the center of a new, unified Japan under Toyotomi rule. It was the largest castle at the time.

How to get to the Osaka Castle Park, Japan from Tanimachi Yonchome Station.
Osaka Castle is a Japanese castle in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. The castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks and it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period
The castle is open to the public and is easily accessible from Osakajōkōen Station on the JR West Osaka Loop Line. It is a popular spot during festival seasons, and especially during the cherry blossom bloom (hanami), when the sprawling castle grounds are covered with food vendors and taiko drummers. The large indoor arena, Osaka-jō Hall, also is located within the grounds of the castle park.

Wouldn't a park, flourishing with cherry blossoms in October be amazing?
Heck ya, it would be!
But, this was filmed back in the Spring on my first day in Japan.
I was a little early to check into my hotel, so I did a quick search for the best local places to see some and I headed to Osaka Castle.
I missed the best viewing time by a few days, but was still impressed by the flowers I saw.
The castle tower is surrounded by impressive stone walls and moats (half of them no longer with water).
I really enjoyed walking through Nishinomaru Garden, with it's 600 cherry trees. Honestly I think that, and the walk up to the castle was the best part of the experience. They've turned the inside into a museum. It was still really interesting to see the artifacts on display, but kind of busy, and I wasn't allowed to film. Shhhhhh.

Over 4000 cherry trees are planted on the spacious grounds of Osaka Castle. A particularly nice place for a picnic is Nishinomaru Park in the castle's western citadel with wide lawns, views of the castle tower and light up in the evening.

Edo castle
Main article: Edo Castle
After the capitulation of the shogunate and the Meiji Restoration, the inhabitants, including the Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu, were required to vacate the premises of the Edo Castle. Leaving the Kyoto Imperial Palace on 26 November 1868, the Emperor arrived at the Edo Castle, made it to his new residence and renamed it to Tōkei Castle (東京城 Tōkei-jō?). At this time Tōkyō had also been called Tōkei. He left for Kyōto again, and after coming back on 9 May 1869, it was renamed to Imperial Castle (皇城 Kōjō?).[3]
Previous fires had destroyed the Honmaru area containing the old donjon (which itself burned in the 1657 Meireki fire). On the night of 5 May 1873, a fire consumed the Nishinomaru Palace (formerly the shogun's residence), and the new imperial Palace Castle (宮城 Kyūjō?) was constructed on the site in 1888.

Japan Travel: Osaka Castle (Osakajo) in Osaka
Japan travel: Osaka Castle (Osakajo) in Osaka. The construction of Osaka Castle began in 1583 at the former site of Ishiyama Honganji Temple, which had been destroyed by Oda Nobunaga thirteen years earlier. Toyotomi Hideyoshi is eyeing the castle to become the new and integrated center of Japan under the rule of Toyotomi. It was the greatest castle at the time.
However, a few years after Hideyoshi's death, Tokugawa forces attacked and destroyed the castle and ended the Toyotomi lineage in 1615. Osaka Castle was rebuilt by Tokugawa Hidetada in the 1620s, but the main castle tower was struck by lightning in 1665 and burned.
It was not until 1931 that the reconstruction of the existing castle bricks was now being built. During the war, it miraculously survived the city's airstrikes. The main repair work gave a new glamor in 1997. The castle towers are now fully modern on the inside and even have elevators for easier access. It houses an informative museum about the history of the castle and Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
The castle tower is surrounded by a secondary fortress, gates, towers, stone walls, and an impressive ditch. Nishinomaru Park, which includes the former western fortress, is a grass garden with 600 cherry trees, a tea house, a former Osaka Guest House, and a beautiful view of the castle tower from below. Unlike most of the rest of the castle grounds, the park requires an entrance fee.
The entire Osaka Castle Park covers about two square kilometers with plenty of green spaces, sports facilities, multi-purpose arena (Osakajo Hall) and a temple dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This park is one of the most popular hanami spots in Osaka during the cherry season, which usually takes place in early April.
