Ep. 7 - KOOTANY & REVELSTOKE - CROSS CANADA ROADTRIP AUGUST 2018
In this episode we travel from Banff to Kootany then from Kootany to Revelstoke. This leg of the trip was mainly in transit without much time to explore sadly. We drove through forest fires and the crazy fast and windey BC highways. We spent one night in Kootany where we enjoyed the radium hot-springs (the first hot-springs in the canadian national parks) and also some national park activities within our campground. After our night in Kootany we advanced to Revelstoke where we sheltered ourselves from thunderstorms in a beautiful little cabin. we enjoyed an evening in town and a fantastic breakfast. it is such a cute little town with tons of eco tourism, however we didn't have the pleasure of exploring much at all. This was the phase in our trip where we really started to settle in to what we were doing.

Revelstoke has the longest vertical descent in North America with perfect groomers to cruise from the top all the way to the bottom. Revelstoke is known for its tree skiing. The majority of the 3,121 acres is covered in glades. Similar to the groomed runs you can ride glades from the top to the leg burning bottom. There are powder pillows and face shot nirvana on every turn, if you catch the perfect weather.
After warming up on the front side of the mountain you can access the high alpine slopes with a quick bootpack around on Lemming Line or straight up Sub Peak. The manageable bootpack leads to stunning 360 degree views, with Mt. Mackenzie looming large and the Selkirk mountains as far as the eye can see. The bowls offer fun lines with rocky chutes for experienced riders.

We are driving around the city/town of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. It's conveniently located a mere 600 plus kilometers from Vancouver.
If you want to avoid Whistler, which has turned into an overpriced Disn--land, Revelstoke is the place you should be. Lots of snow in winter and a big enough small town with lots of accommodations.
