Explanation retieved from Wikipedia:
Vignoles is a complex hybrid wine grape variety that was developed by J.F. Ravat originally named Ravat 51. According to Ravat, Ravat 51 was the result of a cross made in 1930 using the complex hybrid wine grape Seibel 6905 (also known as Le Subereux) and a clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot de corton.[1] Originally named Vignoles by the Finger Lakes Wine Growers Association in 1970, genetic testing has recently proved that Vignoles does not share any major genetic markers in common with Seibel 6905 or Pinot Noir. Thus, Vignoles is unrelated to the Ravat 51 grapevine that was imported into the USA in 1949 and the parentage of Vignoles is currently unknown.

myMABA 09 | Be Content with Fewer Wishes by Francesca Williams
MABA stands for Mid America Buddhist Association which is a Buddhist monastery occupying a 76 acres parcel featuring rolling hills, lotus-filled lake and beautiful woodland, surrounded by majestic vineyards and wineries in Augusta, Missouri, about one hour drive west of the St. Louis International Airport.
To understand MABA, one must start with its Abbot, Venerable Master Jiru. Master was born in a small town along the Eastern coast of Malaysia. His parents were both physicians, immigrated from China after World War II.
Master grew up learning martial art from his grandfather, first it was a derivative form of yoga (Yi Jin Jing) invented by Bodhidharma, a famous North Indian monk who visited China fifteen hundred years ago and invented the technique after spending seven years in seclusion inside a cave. Bodhidharma is recognized as the original master of Chan meditation in China and his yoga technique also became the basis of what is now known as Shaolin Kung Fu.
While continuing to practice this age old technique, Master Jiru also became experts in two styles of Tai Chi (combining both Chan and Tao). When he was around twenty years old, he vowed to dedicate his life to Buddhism and after spending almost two years overcoming incredible obstacles in learning both Pali and the Thai language, he was ordained as a Theravada monk in Thailand.
However, fate brought him back to Malaysia and he eventually became the disciple of a famous Mahayana Chan master. A few years later, Master Jiru decided to search for his true calling overseas, first to Australia, then to America, and over time has held important positions in various monasteries, spanning both coasts of United States.
Then in the early-90’s, Master was invited by a small group of self-practicing Buddhists living in the St. Louis, MO area, who until then were meeting in each other’s homes to study Dharma. Pooling their resources, and with leadership provided by the Master, MABA was founded. Land was purchased and over the past twenty years, with nothing but their sheer will and determination, augmented with small donations and lots of generous volunteers, they have built MABA to what it is today.
From a Buddhist teaching standpoint, MABA is unique in that it synergistically combines both Theravada and Mahayana traditions, with great emphasis on direct experience in exploring one’s body and mind and systematic approach to understanding Dharma, as opposed to ruts, routines and rituals.
Three years ago, in order to meet growing demands on their facility, they embarked on an audacious renovation project, modernizing and expanding their female dormitory which was a tiny hundred year old stone farm house. What emerged, after lots of blood, sweat and tears, is a world class full fledged meditation facility affectionately known as the Blue Lotus House.
The open house ceremony for the Blue Lotus is scheduled for April 9, 2017.
MABA is always open to the public. In addition to Sunday services, it also hosts regular multi-day meditation retreats. Please visit their website, for more information and to make contributions to support their cause. For testimonials from their students, you can also watch interview videos at their Youtube channel,

Augusta/Katy Trail Run 2009
Missouri Route 94 between Augusta wine country and St. Louis West County is a nice scenic drive that follows the Katy Trail . There is a generous 50mph speed limit making for some fun curves in the winter (too much wine country traffic in spring, summer and fall though).
This video is heading east. There is one hair raising curve with a dramatic altitude change near Klondike Lake (note the warning arrow on the ground and my tires squealing a bit). After that you can see two cross walks which are where they Katy trail crosses the highway. There's parking for the Katy Trail and state park in this stretch, along with Daniel Boone's Judgement Tree (not in video). Right after this is Defiance, MO, a small town with a 25 mph speed limit so slow down and respect your neighbors! Defiance also has the only gas station in the area.

Dave Bennett Memorial Award at Augusta Plein Air Festival
Dave Bennett Memorial Award at the 2013 Augusta Plein Air Art Festival
Dave was honored at this event by his friend, Steve Easterwood, the artists, & the committee Doug Gorrell won the award with his painting - Quiet Reflections
The following text is from the Hawthorn Galleries website...
Dave Bennett
Raised in a family of artists, Dave Bennett began his painting career at an early age.
He did a large pastel demonstration before an audience of 200, at the age of six.
That was rushing it a little, states Bennett, but it prepared him for a lifetime of artistic creations. By the time he was 17, he had become a commercial artist and sign writer. With the encouragement of his father, Bennett began working in acrylic on canvas. In 1983, he moved to Durango, Colorado, where he attended workshops and sold
his first paintings. He later studied at the Art Masters Academy
in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Bennett lived in Bolivar, Missouri where he was a retired teacher of landscape painting at Southwest Baptist University. As a plein air artist, Bennett worked mainly in oil, but also produced works in acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and pencil. He won serveral awards
including the National Small Painting Exhibition in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was also included in an invitational exhibit at Northeastern College in Sterling, Colorado. He was juried into Artists Along the Katy Trail and into the Plein Air 2003, 2005,and 2006 annual national competitive exhibitions.
Dave Bennett passed away in September 2012. A wonderful man,
and a great artist, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
