Tokyo Metro Ginza Line: Asakusa-Tawaramachi-Inaricho-Ueno. JAN 2016

Filmed in January 2016. This is riding a new 1000 series metro train built in 2014, based on the original 1000 series metro trains in the Tokyo metro, which had been in use between 1927-1968 (The new 1000 series metro trains have been introduced since 2012, scheduled to replace all the 01 series metro trains from 1983-1987, 1990-93 and 1997). This is riding the 2,2km long extension with 4 stations, which originally opened back in 1927 (Asakusa-Ueno).

The Ginza Line was conceived by a businessman named Noritsugu Hayakawa, who visited London in 1914, saw the London Underground and concluded that Tokyo needed its own underground railway. He founded the Tokyo Underground Railway (東京地下鉄道 Tōkyō Chika Tetsudō?) in 1920, and began construction in 1925.

The portion between Ueno and Asakusa was completed on December 30, 1927 and publicized as the first underground railway in the Orient. Upon its opening, the line was so popular that passengers often had to wait more than two hours to ride a train for a five-minute trip.

On January 1, 1930, the subway was extended by 1.7 km to temporary Manseibashi Station, abandoned on November 21, 1931 when the subway reached Kanda, 500 meters further south down the line. The Great Depression slowed down construction, but the line finally reached its originally planned terminus of Shinbashi on June 21, 1934.

In 1938, the Tōkyō Rapid Railway (東京高速鉄道 Tōkyō Kōsoku Tetsudō?), a company tied to the predecessor of today's Tokyu Corporation, began service between Shibuya and Toranomon, later extended to Shinbashi in 1939. The two lines began through-service interoperation in 1939 and were formally merged as the Teito Rapid Transit Authority (Eidan Subway or TRTA) in July 1941.

The Ginza Line name was applied in 1953 to distinguish the line from the new Marunouchi Line. In the postwar economic boom, the Ginza Line became increasingly crowded. The new Hanzōmon Line began to relieve the Ginza Line's traffic in the 1980s, but the Ginza Line is still quite crowded as it serves major residential, commercial, and business districts in central Tokyo. According to a June 2009 Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation survey, the Ginza Line is the seventh most crowded subway line in Tokyo, running at 168% capacity between Akasaka-Mitsuke and Tameike-Sannō stations.

The newest station on the line, Tameike-Sannō Station, opened in 1997 to provide a connection to the newly built Namboku Line. The line is 14,3km long and has 19 stations.

Aoyama-itchōme Station (青山一丁目駅 Aoyama-itchōme-eki) is a subway station in Minato, Tokyo, Japan operated by Tokyo Metro and Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei).

The Toei Ōedo Line (都営地下鉄大江戸線 Toei Chikatetsu Ōedo-sen?) is a subway line in Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). It commenced full operations on December 12, 2000; using the Japanese calendar this reads 12/12/12 as the year 2000 equals Heisei 12. The line is completely underground, making it the second-longest railway tunnel in Japan after the Seikan Tunnel.

On maps and signboards, the line is shown in magenta (O). Stations carry the letter E followed by a two-digit number.

Craziest fan convention of AKB48 Group, Nogizaka46, Nanase Nishino

AKB48 is a Japanese female idol group.
Due to the production of Yasushi Akimoto, on December 8, 2005, they started activities based in Tokyo / Akihabara.
It has a dedicated theater AKB 48 Theater in Tokyo · Akihabara and features daily performances as a member of the concept of Idol who can go to see and perform almost every day. It is not a distant existence through mass media, but the style that fans empathize and support the members as familiar existence and share their growth process is gaining support from fans.

Nogizaka 46 is a Japanese female idol group. It was born on August 21, 2011 by Akimoto Yasushi 's production.
Nogisaka of the group name · Nogizaka 46 is derived from the SME Nogisaka Building of Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, which was owned by Sony Music Entertainment of the label company at that time. The building was used as the final audition site of Nogizaka 46. 『文徳実録』によると、文徳天皇の斉衡３年(856)12月29日に常陸国鹿島郡大洗磯前に御祭神大己貴命・少彦名命が御降臨になりました。里人の一人に神がかりして、「我は大奈母知、少比古奈命なり。昔此の国を造り訖へて、去りて東海に往きけり。今民を済わんが為、亦帰り来たれり」と託宣され、ここに当社が創建されました。翌天安元年８月には官社に列せられ、更に10月には「大洗磯前薬師菩薩明神」の神号を賜りました。延喜の制では明神大社に明治18年４月には国幣中社に列されました。

御社殿はかつて永禄年間の兵乱によって悉く消失してしまいましたが、水戸藩２代藩主徳川光圀公が由緒深い名社の荒廃を嘆き元禄３年(1690)御造営の工を起し、３代綱篠公の享保15年(1730)に現在地に還座再興されました。

Kunming, Yunnan, China - Kunming is the capital and largest city in Yunnan province China. So I was excited to explore the local market in Kunming and eat as much street food as possible!

Here are all the Chinese street food dishes we ate throughout the market:

Rice pudding - 5 RMB ($0.76) - This was slightly fermented, and sweet, like a rice alcohol pudding. It was pretty good, but quite sweet, so I couldn’t eat that much of it.

Dumpling - 1 RMB ($0.15) - I saw these dumplings sizzling and hissing and there was no way I could walk by without trying one. Stuffed inside were leek and egg. They were a little on the oily side, but delicious.

Whole duck - 20 RMB ($3.03) - Yunnan is famous for roast duck, and there’s a version that’s comparable even to Beijing style. Style I was excited to find a stall that at the market that specialize in Yunnanese roast duck. It was delicious and the owners were very friendly as well.

Pickled pears - 5 RMB ($0.76) - This was an interesting snack, and supposed to be very healthy and good for digestion.

Drink - 2 RMB ($0.30) - This drink was incredible sweet, but refreshing.

Tofu Noodles - 5.5 RMB ($0.83) - Another extremely popular Chinese street food snack at the market was tofu noodles - I’ve had tofu and noodles, but not really mixed before. It was a little plain and starchy, but from all the sauces, it was taty.
Rice balls - 5 RMB ($0.76) - We also tried sesame rice balls which were delicious.

Jacuzzi braised ½ chicken - 15 RMB ($2.27) - This was one of the highlights of the market for me, mainly because the owner was so friendly and his giant jacuzzi of boiling chickens was amazing to see! The chicken was a little bony, but flavorful.

Yellow soybean porridge - 3.5 RMB ($0.53) - As we were leaving the market, we stopped for one last bowl of soybean porridge to eat with youtiau, Chinese donuts. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, but it was delicious. It was very warming and hearty.

Finally to complete this Chinese street food tour in Kunming, Jerry and I, along with his family ate Chinese Yunnanese bbq. It was tasty and a great way to end this amazing day of street food.
