Nong Khai Aquarium
I take a look around Sirindhorn Aquarium in Nong Khai, Thailand. The Aquarium is located on the campus of Khon Kaen University on the outskirts of the town.
The idea behind the aquarium is to highlight the need to conserve the freshwater fish of the Mekong River, that flows nearby.
The high point of the exhibition is the 25 metre tunnel tank that features a vast array of Mekong River Fish
There is also a number of saltwater tanks displaying, amongst others, Moray Eels, shrimps, stingrays etc.

Nong Khai Aquarium is just a short drive from Nong Khai Centre. Its a great place to head with the kids and is cheap entry. Even farang adult entry is only 100 baht.

Flaniermeile - Die Uferpromenade am Mekong in Nong Khai
Eine wahre Flaniermeile ist die Uferpromenade in Nong Khai, die parallel zum Mekong verläuft. Ihr habt einen wunderschönen Blick auf den Mekong und auf das am anderen Ufer liegende Vientiane in Laos.
Auf der Promenade gibt es zahlreiche Restaurants, Lokale und diverse Guesthouses.
Kontakt zu Einheimischen und Touristen ist schnell hergestellt, viele treffen sich dort zu einem Plausch, oder um Reiseerfahrungen auszutauschen.
Von dort könnt ihr auch die Thai Lao Friendschip Bridge sehen, jedenfalls wenn das Wetter mitspielt.
