Jincheon Nong-dari(진천 농다리): The oldest stone bridge in South Korea

'Nong-dari' is the oldest and longest stone bridge in Korea. It was built in the early Goryeo Dynasty 1,000 years ago.

It's located in Jincheon-gun, North Chungcheong Province. 'Nong-dari' festival will be held from May 25 to May 27, 2018.

Seoul VLOG 5: Traditional NONGDARI Festival | Jincheon

NOTE: I´m sorry, I made a mistake with the number of the VLOG at the beginning of the vid. It´s actually VLOG 5 (!!!), so don´t be confused haha :^)

This time i got to travel a little further out of Seoul. We went to the traditional Nongdari Festival (농다리죽체) in Jincheon(진천)´s rural outskirts.
I was able to film some beautiful landscapes as well as to meet some very kind korean ajummas and ajeossis :)
So if you are interested in the more traditional and natural side of Korea, sit back, grab some popcorn and watch :-)

For two years, I lived in the township of Jincheon-gun during my first teaching contract in Korea. Between my travels in China and my new Life in Gongju City, I lived with one of my dearest friend Hyunju. During my stay there, I experienced the small town of Jincheon-Eup. I loved living in Jincheon. It offered all that I needed with a great deal of love and support from the community. I love Jincheon!

Korea's Olympic body opens its new training center in Jincheon

South Korea's Olympic body is opening an exciting new chapter in the nation's sports facilities.
With the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games just a few months away, South Korea's Olympic hopefuls got to test it out first.
Our Won Jung-hwan reports from the Jincheon Sports Village.
The new home of elite sports in Korea finally opened on Wednesday at Jincheon Sports Village in Chungcheongbuk-do Province. The center replaces Taereung National Training Center in Seoul, which had served the country's top athletes since 1966.

More than 2,000 people, including Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon , Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Do Jong-hwan , and President of the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee Lee Kee-heung , attended the opening ceremony.

We have built the world's largest sports village in Jincheon as the first step toward the further development of sport in Korea. In particular, this future-oriented village will open up a new platform to strengthen the athletes' training system.

Construction of the sports village in Jincheon started in 2009 and cost over 450 million U.S. dollars. The site is three times larger than the complex at Taereung, and has facilities for 35 sports, including some, like cycling, rugby and the triathlon, that the old complex was lacking.

Taereung is in Seoul and it was built in the 60s, so the training facilities couldn't be expanded. But, since there is a clear difference with the size of its area, I think the best part of the change is in the scale of the village.

The first test for Jincheon sports village will be the preparations for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, where Korea is targeting a fourth place finish in the medal table, focusing on the speed skating, short track, and bobsleigh events. But the support system provided by Jincheon will help Korean sport long after Pyeongchang 2018's closing ceremony.

The Jincheon School District took all of their new teachers on a tour of the city! We visited three of Jincheon's most famous landmarks: Nongdari, Jincheon's Bell Museum, and Botap-sa. Then on Saturday, I met up with my mom's best friend and her daughter, Sarah, for a mini late night adventure in Samcheongdong to eat sweet red bean porridge from 서울에서둘째로잘하는집.
