- what minerality means in wine and Norm makes a great comparison to hydroponic lettuce
- why the grapes grown in Burgundy, France, do so well in Prince Edward County
- how county wines are different from those made in other regions of Ontario such as Niagara and southwestern Ontario
- what visitors to the county can do aside from visiting wineries: artisanal cheeses, meats and terrific restaurants
- why the people's choice awards for wine is the next great step in promoting Canadian wine and fully engaging Canadian wine drinkers

GreenEggsToronto Norm Hardie - Episode 2
GET on the road with Anthony Rose. This week we are visiting Norman Hardie Winery (normanhardie.com) in Prince Edward County!
Welcome to Hillier Creek Estates Winery
HCE is located in scenic Prince Edward County, Ontario's latest designated wine region. After being in development for over nine years, we opened our doors to the public for the first time in spring of 2010.
Our vineyards span twenty-five acres, growing Pinot Noir, Gamay, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Vidal. The centerpiece of our property, a beautifully restored 160 year old barn transformed into our winery, tasting room, and retail store, is an eye catching piece of county history directly visible from Loyalist Parkway (Highway 33). We invite you to tour our vineyards and winery and learn about our grape growing and wine making process - or simply come and enjoy a glass of wine in either the cozy atmosphere of our tasting room, or out on our sunny patio overlooking the vineyards.
With advance notice, we are happy to accommodate large tour groups and bus tours, and we have plenty of space for those bringing their own picnic lunches.

This winery was originally owned by the Stevenson family who settled in the County in the early 1800's. Until it now served as a traditional farm with a turn of the century post and beam barn at its center. Richard Karlo converted this historic site into Karlo Estates' tasting room. In spring 2006 Karlo Estates undertook its first planting of grapes where Pinot Noir and Frontenac were used for the for the reds; and Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay Musque for the whites.
