Really bright meteor detected from our optical meteor detection system at 18.30UT 15th Feb 2014.
This one really is a cracker, unfortunately there is a further explosion just as the meteor leaves our field of view. Bugger!

Massive Meteor Explosion Over Devon Biggest UK Fireball Ever
An enormous fireball exploding over Devon has been caught on camera, and it's believed to be the largest explosion of its kind to be recorded in the UK.
Taking place in the early hours of the morning the explosion was caught by the Norman Lockyer Observatory in Sidmouth.
Eyewitnesses caught sight of the massive meteor and immediately contacted astronomers at the Norman Lockyer Observatory. Having looked back on their footage of the night before they discovered the event had been caught on two of their fixed-position cameras.

Speaking to the MailOnline Dave Jones from the UK Meteor Observation Network confirmed that this was probably the largest event of its kind in the UK.
Due to cloud and raindrops on the camera lenses the image was not as clear as we would like, however the sheer size and brightness of this object burning up in our atmosphere almost overwhelmed our cameras as it was so bright.

The Norman Lockyer Observatory, the Lockyer Technology Centre, and the Planetarium (jointly NLO), is a public access optical observatory in Sidmouth, East Devon on the Jurassic Coast of South West England. It was founded in 1912. The observatory houses a number of historical optical telescopes, including the Lockyer Telescope, and is operated by Norman Lockyer Observatory Society (NLOS).

The video also has scenes in the Connaught Gardens, but because they were filmed in September the gardens are not at there best. It also shows the start of the Tour of Britain cycle race Sidmouth to Haytor Dartmoor.

Este es el momento en que un enorme meteorito se a quemado en los cielos por encima de Devon, en las primeras horas de la mañana del lunes 30/06/2014.
La bola de fuego fue capturado en cámara por el Observatorio de Norman Lockyer en Sidmouth a BST 03.04am.
Eyewitness vio el meteoro bólido iluminar la atmósfera en lo que fue la explosión más grande jamás registrado por el observatorio.
Dave Jones de la Red de Observación de Meteoros Reino Unido (UKMON) dijo Tenemos dos cámaras que vigilan meteoros en la oscuridad, por lo que al conocer la noticia me conecté para revisar nuestros datos y ver si habíamos capturado algo.
Afortunadamente el meteoro pasó por delante de nuestras dos cámaras así que terminamos con dos vídeos de un mismo hecho.

This is the moment a huge meteor burned through the skies above Devon in the early hours of Monday morning.
The fireball was captured on camera by the Norman Lockyer Observatory in Sidmouth at 03.04am BST.
Eyewitness saw the bolide meteor light up the atmosphere in what was the biggest explosion ever recorded by the observatory.
Dave Jones of the UK Meteor Observation Network (UKMON) told We have two cameras that watch for meteors during darkness, so upon hearing the news I logged in to check our data and see if we had captured anything.
Fortunately the meteor passed in front of both of our cameras so we ended up with two videos of the same event.

A massive fireball meteor screeching across the sky was caught on camera by the Norman Lockyer Observatory in Sidmouth, Devon at around 02:04UT (04:00 CET) on June 30.
The bollide meteor, powerful enough to cast shadows, was visible across the West Country, Wales, and the West Midlands.
