Karen Brown's Inn at Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Massachusetts
The INN AT STOCKBRIDGE, Stockbridge, Massachusetts
The Inn at Stockbridge is a large Georgian-style building, constructed in 1906, situated down a driveway winding through a 12-acre estate.
You arrive at a columned porch and on the other side of the front door is a very large, welcoming hall flanked by the dining room on one side and the gracious living room on the other.
The living room, where wine is served in the afternoon, is comfortably furnished and reading by the fire here is a real pleasure.
The inn's guestrooms are in the main house, the cottage house, and the recently built barn.
Always a favorite, Blagdon, the original master bedroom, decorated in soft shades of yellow, has a spacious sitting area in front of the fireplace and a lovely four-poster canopy king bed.
The four spacious deluxe barn suites—Shakespeare, Wharton, Rockwell, and Shaker—all enjoy gas fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and private decks, and each is decorated appropriately for its name.
The inn prides itself on its breakfasts, formal affairs by candlelight, and Len loves to share his breakfast recipes with guests.
The inn is close to so many things to do that you'll have trouble deciding between the antiquing, the music festivals, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and a variety of sports.

Coffee with Colleen: The Perfect Life: Myth or Motto?
Join me every morning at 9am Eastern on Facebook Live for a daily motivational chat!
This morning, we talked about this quote from Reggie Jackson:
I wasn't exactly brought up in one of those Norman Rockwell paintings you used to see on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.
--Reggie Jackson
What does this mean to YOU? What thoughts come to your mind? Have you ever compared you or your family to someone else?
If you’re not familiar with Reggie Jackson (Reginald Martinez Jackson, also known as Mr. October), he played professional baseball and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.
-He was born in 1947 -- the same year Jackie Robinson broke the “color barrier” to be the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball.
-Reggie Jackson’s father, who was half Puerto Rican, played baseball in the Negro League.
-His parents divorced when he was very young, and he went to live with his father in a neighborhood north of Philly. They were one of the only African-American families in the area, and he made many friendships in the Jewish community.
-In high school, he played football, basketball, baseball, and track and field.
-Oklahoma, Alabama, and Georgia offered him FOOTBALL scholarships, but he went to Arizona State on a football scholarship.
Norman Rockwell was a 20th-century American author, painter, and illustrator. His works EXTREMELY popular from the 1920s on for their reflection of American Culture. He illustrated for the Saturday Evening Post for over 50 years.
The Saturday Evening Post was one of the most widely circulated and influential magazines for the American middle class in the first half of the 20th Century. It included fiction, non-fiction, cartoons, and features and was read in millions of homes every week.

OTIS Hydraulic Elevator-Connecticut River Museum
Well, here is the annual video of this thing. And it has changed! First of all, it seems a bit MORE darker than last year. Another thing is that there is now a strange squeaky sound coming from the shaft (guide wheel issue, anyone).
The museum itself was originally built as a steamboat dock. Sometime in the 60's, it was converted to retail space. That lasted until 1974, when it was converted into a museum, like it is today. That is around the time when the elevator was installed. The museum itself focuses on history about history of industry on the river. However, a fire on August
11, 2010 destroyed part of the building's exterior (something under the dock, and was on the other side).
The elevator itself is an OTIS with Adams fixtures. Considering when this was installed, I guess this was the Pre-Series 1? Also, listen to that strange floor passing signal. It seems like a click. Any idea? I guess it is a bell without a gong.

ThyssenKrupp Hydraulic Elevator @ 76 Main Street, Littleton, NH
Installed 2014. This elevator is very nice! It has the scrolling arrow just like all the other newer TK installs.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Dallas/Addison Addison, TX (Dover Impulse)
This is where we stayed for a week while I was in Dallas in Spring. This Homewood is one of those rare exterior corridors hotels that have separate buildings for the Suites. As a result, there is one building (classified as two) that is interior and has an elevator. You need a keycard to ride this elevator. This Homewood Opened in 1990. Hotel tour coming soon.
Greenfield, MA: Elevator at GCC Downtown Center
This is the Downtown Center branch for Greenfield Community College on Main Street in Downtown Greenfield. This elevator I am guessing this is a Westinghouse according to the fixtures.
Smaller Bay State/Dover Oildraulic Elevator-Wilson's Greenfield, Ma
Here's the other elevator in the store, but it isn't as impressive as the other one.
This elevator is located towards the front of the store (towards Main Street), which is the original building. I suspect this was originally an OTIS, hence the door jamb frame/track, but I cannot seem to put a date on this thing. However, it was apparently modded by Bay State (distributor of Dover at the time) sometime in the 1970's or 1980's. Walking up to this thing, it looks like any other GAL elevator. However, the weird thing about this is that it uses the DOVER chime (this could have been one of the first uses of it).
This elevator is more of an auxiliary elevator, which is surprising, considering this thing is at the front of the store and the larger one is towards the back. For one, it is a pretty tiny cab (a WHOPPING 1,500lbs capacity). Second, it could have been put into use a while after the other one.
This store originally opened in 1882 (I highly doubt that's when this elevator is from), and has expanded slowly ever since. Before that, this part of the building was a hotel. Today, it seems unchanged from the 1950's with some modern sprinkles. A neat authentic experience!
Here's a Wikipedia article about the store:

Notes: Appears it was originally an OTIS, but I'm not quite sure when it was originally installed. However, it appears it was modernized by Bay State (DOVER) in the 1970's or 1980's. Also, it has the DOVER chime.
