4: Tulita to Norman Wells - Mackenzie River
Video 4 -- just under 14 min. Going North from Tulita (Fort Norman) to Norman Wells which is the shortest leg of the Mackenzie River trip. We banded several sites and stopped for a day in Norman Wells to get supplies do laundry, shower and visit the museum which features the Canol Project making an oil pipeline to Whitehorse and all the work that was done in 2 years.

My late Grandad who was a war hero had been chosen to carry the olympic torch, he was entered in the baseball hall of fame for his Team the Liverpool Trojans, who had one the nationals twice. He was asked to visit BBC radio merseyside and give an interview. it had to be made fast at the time so forgive it's basicness
this man is a source of inspiration, a chest of intelligence, wit and a genuine hero. and it comes through in this video

2012 Community Futures National event ~ Mandi Mcdonald started her own mobile food truck business in the small community of Norman Wells, NT in April 2012, after coming into the Sahtu Business Development Centre in the fall of 2011 for some assistance. Nichole Richards, EDO at the SBDC, helped Mandi from the beginning with her proposal and application. This resulted in approved funding for the project from the GNWT and BDIC, as well as a small business loan with SBDC. It's great to see someone from our community accomplish such a venue. Her business has been very successful since opening. The video does not talk a lot about how all this came about, or Community Futures directly, as I did feel that videoing Mandi and myself sitting at my desk discussing matters would not be very exciting! (You will see a small clip of us doing just that, however!!) But I hope the video shares what Mandi has accomplished with support from the community as a whole.
