This film explains the taking of Carentan on June 12th 1944 by the 101st Airborne Division, focusing on the role of E/506th PIR. This was depicted in episode 3 of Band of Brothers, the incredible HBO series. Filmed on location in Carentan, Normandy and using many rare wartime images and pieces of film, this WW2TV presentation offers insight into the real events.
The film is narrated by Kevin Hymel, historian and author, based on one of his many magazine articles. In this case an October 2018 issue of War History

The Cabbage Patch at Carentan
CARENTAN, FRANCE
06.01.2018
Video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Patrick Crimmins
Defense Media Activity - Europe Africa
Eight miles from Utah Beach, near the shores of Normandy, France, officials from the French city of Carentan, U.S. and German soldiers, and French sailors and civil servants honored WWII veterans at the site of what was once a cabbage patch in 1944 with a wreath-laying ceremony. This year marks the 74th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 - most commonly known as D-Day. An epic multinational amphibious and airborne operation, D-Day forged partnerships and reinforced transatlantic bonds that remain strong today. Overall, U.S. service members from 20 units in Europe and the U.S. will participate in the events and ceremonies May 30 - June 7, 2018, in almost 40 locations throughout the Normandy region of France as part of Joint Task Force Normandy 74.

Band of Brothers Carentan Locations 2016 HD
We followed in the footsteps of Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne.
I have juxtaposed scenes from Band of Brothers Episode Carentan with the actual locations at Sainte-Marie-Du-Mont, Carentan Cafe De Normandie, Dick Winters First Aid dressing station and Audouville La Hubert, the site where Captain Speirs was alleged to have shot German prisoners.
We visited on 23 May 2016 with Battlefield Guide Allan Bryson.

Band Of Brothers - 73th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy
Little video about my trip to Normandy for the 73th anniversary of D-DAY.
I was lucky to meet some Veterans, American soldiers, walking on Utah beach, going onboard the plane used in the Band Of Brothers TV show (a real plane from Normandy landings) and visiting famous WWII places like Sainte-Mère-Eglise and Carentan. The most moving place was the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial that covers 172.5 acres and contains the graves of 9,387 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations.
France will forever be grateful towards those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom.
I thank my dad a lot for one of the best experiences I ever lived.

Band of Brothers, Carentan: Where it really happened.
This clip shows the road down which Easy actually went when they launced their assault in to Carentan, (the one where Winters jumps into the middle of the road screaming at his men to move). Viewers of the mini-series will note the difference in what happened on screen with the actual layout of the location.
I was in a bit of a rush so it's not one of my best.
