These islands are probably the two best dive sites in the world but they are very far to the North (120 miles from the nearest other island) and no land excursions have ever been allowed there.
Divers will have the opportunity to dive with playful Sea Lions, see Hammerhead Sharks, Whale Sharks, clouds of Tuna and much more.
In March 2016, Ecuador created a marine sanctuary in the area of Darwin and Wolf that includes 15,000 square miles as off limits to all fishing to conserve the sharks that congregate there and the ecosystem on which they rely.
32% of the waters around the Galapagos islands will now be protected from fishing.

Galapagos Islands Land Based Tour
In September 2016 I had the pleasure of undertaking a land-based adventure in the Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Islands are a volcanic archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean 1000km off the coast of Ecuador, and are part of Ecuadorian territory. I visited three main islands: Santa Cruz, Floreana Island (nickname: hell on earth), and Isabella Island. I also did a couple scuba dives at Gordon Rocks, a dive site famous for Hammerhead sharks and extreme currents.

Giant Tortoise at 00:52 – Isabella Island
Sea turtles, White tip shark, Eagle ray, Cactus on the beach (00:59 – 01:28) – Los Tuneles, Isabella Island
Marine Iguanas – Isabella Island (but you see them everywhere)
Scuba Diving – Gordon Rocks, off the coast of Santa Cruz
Hammerhead Sharks (around 02:00) – Gordon Rocks (poor visibility but incredible nonetheless)
Sea lion near end of video (around 02:30) – Floreana Island (again, you see these guys everywhere)
Giant Tortoise at the end – Santa Cruz
Other cool animals I saw but not included in this video: Blue footed boobies, lava lizards, lava gulls, black tip sharks, sea horse, flamingos, dolphins, sally lightfoot crabs

Santa Fe Island & Sea Lions: Galápagos Part 2
It's day 2 on the Galápagos Islands, we start out at our hotel at Finch Bay and take a yacht to Santa Fe island. We get to meet sea lions including baby pups, land iguanas, sharks, a sea turtle, and even go snorkeling (not pictured, next time we should get ourselves a gopro).
