Macklin stolen truck - RCMP take down, July 30 2013

A Calgary man is expected to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday in connection with a 120-kilometer, 90-minute police chase.
An RCMP Police Service Dog unit from North Battleford as well as police from Kerrobert, Luseland and Provost were called to help in the effort to stop the suspect.
Kristopher Walter Kowalyk faces 16 charges, including assault of a police officer, flight from police, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property obtained by crime greater than $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.
After being arrested, Kowalyk made his first court appearance in North Battttleford Provincial court Wednesday and remanded in custody, pending Thursday's court appearance.
The chase began after a suspicious vehicle was spotted in the Unity area. Unity RCMP had been investigating a break-and-enter and thefts of several snowmobiles in the region.
The vehicle was spotted just south of Unity, pulling a trailer that had allegedly been stolen from a business in Kerrobert. RCMP say as an officer approached the suspect vehicle, it tried to ram the police cruiser and fled.
A chase ensued.
The chase covered grid roads, fields and several secondary highways in the area. RCMP tried deploying spike belts to stop the suspect, but he drove through fields, ditches, a golf course near Macklin and fences to avoid those belts and barricades.
As the suspect vehicle approached Macklin a barricade was set up utilizing town equipment as well as RCMP vehicles. However, when the suspect saw that barricade he drove across part of the Macklin golf course to evade it. He then smashed into an RCMP vehicle and took off westward on CPR railway tracks.
The tracks blew out the back wheels of the stolen trailer. Police say the suspect was caught as he tried to start one of the allegedly stolen snowmobiles he was carrying on the trailer.
The railway was closed for two hours while the vehicle was removed and the tracks were inspected for damage.
Note: The Truck was stolen from Country Ford in Wilkie, Saskatchewan
