Baratang Island is an island of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the North and Middle Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.[6] The island lies 150 km. (93 miles) north of Port Blair.
History
Ranchiwalas Island is another name for Baratang Island. Towards the close of the nineteenth century, the city of Ranchi experienced political upheaval. Many locals sought refuge by converting to Christianity with the help of the missionaries there. The British, realizing the future prospects of the forests of Andaman and Nicobar islands, sent the converts to Baratang Island to cultivate crops. The laborers from Ranchi settled there and made new lives for themselves. A lighthouse was commissioned in 1985 at the eastern entrance to the Andaman strait.
Geography
The island belongs to the Great Andaman Chain, and with an area of 242.6 square kilometres (93.7 sq mi) it is one of the main islandsof the group, a closely set archipelago in the Bay of Bengal, adjoining the Andaman Sea. Middle Andaman is to its north, and South Andaman to the south. Beaches, mangrove creeks, limestone caves, and mud volcanoes are some of the physical features.] The islands of Ritchie's Archipelago lie 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) to the east. Port Blair, the capital of the Indian Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is located approximately 45 kilometres (28 mi) from the southern tip of Baratang. Baratang contains the only known examples of mud volcanoes in India. These mud volcanoes have erupted sporadically, with recent eruptions in 2005 believed to have been associated with the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The previous major eruption recorded was on 18 February 2003. The locals call this mud volcano jalki. There are other volcanoes in the area, the Barren Island volcano which is the only active volcano in South Asia, and the Narcondum volcano which is considered to be a potentially active volcano.
Ross Island : is an island formed by four volcanoes in the Ross Sea near the continent of Antarctica, off the coast of Victoria Land in McMurdo Sound.Geography[edit]
Because of the persistent presence of the ice sheet, the island is sometimes taken to be part of the Antarctic mainland. Its area is 2,460 square kilometres (950 sq mi); only a small portion of the island is free of ice and snow. The planet's southernmost active volcano, Erebus (3,794 m or 12,448 ft), as well as the dormant volcano Terror (3,230 m or 10,597 ft), are situated on the island. They were named by Captain James Ross after his ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. The third highest elevation is Mount Bird, with Shell Glacier and Endeavour Piedmont Glacier on its slopes. Abbott Peak stands between Mount Erebus and Mount Bird. Gamble Cone and Kyle Cone stand in the east of the island.[1]

Despite its relatively small size, Ross Island is the world's 6th highest island and highest island in Antarctica. It has the highest average elevation of any island.

We took a one day trip to Ross island and then to North Bay island which is flooded with tourist to try the amazing water sport activities such as Scuba diving, Snorkeling, Sea walk, Glass boat, Dolphin ride etc...

Ross island was once upon a paradise for Britishers during the WW2 but now there are only messed up buildings covered by tree roots. One must come here to witness the historical ruins leftover by the Britishers after the Earthquake affected the island.

We left to Andaman islands on November 1st. We reached Port blair and on the first day we visited the Cellular jail. On the second day we visited Ross island to see wonderful yester years and later on sailed to North bay island for an amazing experience of scuba diving.

North Bay is a small island near Port Blair. Private ferries operate at various rates to drop you there n pick u back. It is majorly famous for the activities like, Scuba, Snorkeling, Sea walk, Glass boat ride etc. Also the photograph behind a Twenty Rupee Indian Note is of this very island.

North Bay Island is one among the most popular destination at the Andaman Islands. Activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sea walking, glass boat ride, semi submarine are available at the island. The beach is easily accessible via ferry, from Port Blair. It is known for coral underwater treasures. There are vibrant corals, colorful fishes and variety of vegetation. This is an ideal place for snorkeling and scuba diving. North Bay Island is a bit crowded as it is nearest to Port Blair and offer wonderful experiences to the tourists. The corals are spread over a large area and thus look stunning. You can spot clams, lobsters and a number of fishes. Along with snorkeling and scuba diving, other activities at North Bay Island are sea walking, jet skiing, and speed boat rides. North Bay Island is one among the most popular destination at the Andaman Islands.The boarding point for North Bay island keeps changing based upon Government regulation. Sometimes it is Andaman Water Sports Complex and Sometimes it is Junglighat jetty. 
North Bay Island offers people with beautiful coral reefs alluring to visitors who are visiting this destination for the first time. Activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sea walking, glass boat ride, semi submarine are available at the island.
The light house seen at the back of a 20 Rupee Indian note is from the the North Bay Island.
Viper Island is an island of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the South Andaman District of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.Viper Island derives its name from the vessel H.M.S. Viper in which Lt. Archibald Blair came to Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1789. The vessel, it is believed, met with an accident and its wreckage was found near the island. This small island was the site of the jail where the British used to imprison convicts and political prisoners.It has the ruins of a gallows atop a hillock.
The jail was abandoned when the Cellular Jail was constructed in 1906. Many years before the Cellular Jail was constructed, it was the jail at Viper Island that was used by the British to inflict the worst form of torture and hardship on those who strove to free the country from the British rule.The conditions at the jail were such that the place got the notorious name, Viper Chain Gang Jail.
The Jail has secured a permanent place in the history of the freedom struggle as it was here that Sher Ali, a Pathan from Peshawar, was hanged after he assassinated Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India, on February 8, 1872 at Hope Town jetty, opposite Chatham Island. After the construction of the Cellular Jail in 1906, the Viper Jail's importance declined.
