Secret Sydney 23: Darook Park, Cronulla
When asked to complete a project on a secret place in Sydney, Darook Park instantly came to mind. Located in North Cronulla, situated off Darook Park road, it is the perfect hidden retreat. But don’t be deceived by its name… Darook is so much more than just a park. It’s beautiful beach and rocky shores are just a couple of it’s unique features that make it so truly special.
It is a place that is not only personally significant to me, but also one that deserves more recognition and is most definitely a place that more people should be able to enjoy!

Took early to Wanda beach (Cronulla) fro a morning fishing session. The tide was on the rise but most of the fish were caught on the run-out tide. We used pilchards and tube worms as bait

We spent our Saturday morning in Cronulla beach while the weather was nice and sunny. Cronulla Beach (sometimes referred to as South Cronulla Beach), is a patrolled beach on Bate Bay, in Cronulla, New South Wales, Australia.
From beautiful sandy beaches to world-class surf breaks, Cronulla is only 50 minutes by train from Central Station in the city centre. Swimmers, sunbakers, boardriders, kitesurfers, bodysurfers and picnickers flock to the beaches, where you might spot dolphins and turtles frolicking near the shore.
You’ll discover a vibrant and varied beach culture, from surf-lifesaving events to all kinds of surfers carving up the waves, from surf shops to seaside restaurants, hip cafes and bars, and beachside parks perfect for family picnics. A seaside path connects Cronulla Beach to North Cronulla Beach.

Dunningham Park North Cronulla
The beachside park has an average size playground with plenty of play equipment. It has limited open space. It has toilets and can do with a public BBQ. There are plenty of shops including Cronulla Plaza where you can buy your food and enjoy the free music at the Plaza Theatre. North Cronulla Beach has 2 Beach side rock pools, great during the warmer months, or have a relaxing walk or jog along The Esplanade.
